It first started with "Handsome Phaser Guy" then it went to "Tripping or Falling Over Boobtastic Phaser Chick"
Now we have "Romulan-Elf Lady"
In short, her ears are TOO big and the points to defined/high. I'm guessing that they wanted the ears to be noticeable, hence the oversize, but c'mon...this isn't LOTR Online!
The Romulan Ale must flow, so if they need ears, then let them grow. But to drown all fears, not something to truly love. They are better downsized wherever we go!
You do realise Romulan/Vulcan ears have been extremely varied over the years, right?
Hell look at Nero's.
Personally I think she looks fine, and is a vast improvement over the "Oh look I'm skipping around and showing you my gigantic boobies, teehee!" lady.
Nero was a Romulan? I never would have guessed, I thought he was a genetic fusion of Shinzon with a Klingon.
On a more serious note, I agree in that I don't think that the Rommulan lady really has any problems. Her ears are big, and her hair is long for a rommulan, but I don't see it as being in 'elf territory' like was the case with the 'vulcan' we got previously.
Hoestly, I'm more concerned with the fact that neither she, nor any of the Romulans in the trailer are wearing RSE uniforms, and that the little blurbs mention that we will be members of the "Romulan Republic' Instead of the Romulan Star Empire....

TBH, the Romuelf lady looks like she's wearing Romulan pajamas or civies. In either case, it's a cool looking uniform. I like the slender and tight fitting uniforms as opposed to the bulky TNG Rommie uniforms.

I wouldn't mind that as much except that the emphasis on the uniform, the exclusion of the classic uniform, and the fact that we won't be playing as the RSE after all, and instead as freedom fighters could mean that we don't even have the *option* of the bulky TNG uniforms, or even the updated STO ones that we see romulan NPCs running around in.

It's better design than the fugly, "we sprouted forehead ridges even though we're just exiled, xenophobic Vulcans, oh and we're only allowed haircuts inspired by the Three Stooges" look of The Next Generation.

You seem pretty hostile to the idea of romulans in general-you had the same complaint about them in at least one of the other romulan topics. Do you really want to play as Romulans?
I think giving them their own distinctive clothing and hairstyle, along with the forehead ridges went a long way to making them distinct. Also odd that you would have a problem with their hairstyle beign different from the vulcans, considering their hairstyles are not that much different anyways.
More on topic: I think she looks fine, a bit different from the Romulan norm, but still recognizably romulan. And more importantly not tarted up to the ridiculous extent the Vulcan lady was, which was ridiculous.
Devs, I'd just like to state that I'd gladly spend Zen on the 'bulky TNG' Romulan uniform, and that the opinions of other players that don't like it doesn't reflect my own POV.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I've been waiting for a playable Romulan faction since around launch. What's not to like about the Roman Empire in space? And the Warbird is probably the best starship design to come out of all Star Trek. What I'm hostile to is the godawful make-up and costume design they suffered in TNG.
I don't expect the TNG concepts to not be present, I'd just like to have the TOS character design available too.

They're not supposed to be distinct. They're supposed to be Vulcans that rejected the notion that logic is the end-all-be-all. In fact, one of the key story points in "Balance of Terror" is that they and Vulcans are indistinguishable.
Why are all the avatars portrayed as juveniles or near juveniles? How about a mature female Romulan instead for the mature Trekkers! "Damn your condescension Cryptic!"
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

I'd just like to point out that Pretty much everything got overhauled from TOS to the TOS movies to the TNG-era, rommulans included, you remember what Klingons used to look like before the TOS movies, right? If there's a TOS helmet available, you can cover up the ridges anyhow, and who knows? perhaps there wil lbe a vulcan zen store unlock, so you can look exactly like a TOS rommulan. I think there is a lot more valid concern for them shying away from the TNG/DS9/VOY era of Rommies to be honest, what with none of the Rommies shown so far (even the faction select screen one) showing either the TNG-era uniforms, or the rather high quality slimmer STO updated ones, despite them existing in-game already and widely displayed by NPCs.
It looks more like she has Vulcan ears than Romulan, maybe she's a Romulan-Vulcan hybrid?
Anyway! I like this Romulan-Elf Lady. She looks dark, tough and sort of semi-tom boy.
To me, that makes her quite great. Especially since Cryptic haven't made her over sexualised.

would be nice for her to be in pair with the FED chick and augment the TRIBBLE

I just can't get past her hair. She's in space, there's no wind, but it's still blowing!
Only the power of Hollywood movie trailers could explain that.

Next season, I'd bet we'll have a Tellarite guy representing STO's 'Drawf" race.

Edit: Rihannsu could be changed to Rielfsu. What do you think? Ri-elf-su sounds kind of catchy.
