Anyone else excited to be flying a romulan warbird later ????

All of a sudden the 3 years of cr*p us players have been put through got a bit easier today seeing the announcement of the romulan faction. I actually feel excited and interested in the game once again. Finally new content, a fresh new challenge, new stories to play out.

I don't usually say this but thanks cryptic for putting fresh new life into the game !!!

    haha in my excitement I forgot this was just the announcement, we wont be flying until may but still considering today is the 21st it wont be long now :eek:

    After seeing that super Valdore / Mogai, I'm itching to try it out.


    But I'm curious how the Devs are going to make Romulan ships different from KDF and Federation ships?

    At a guess, the Federation 'philosophy' on ships is survivability and for the KDF it is more brute attack power. So I assume that Romulan/Reman ships are going to be leaning toward science.

    I think I'll head towards a D'deridex myself. The only thing that could lure me away from that would be a playable Scimitar.

    I'm holding my horses until I see some stats. If warpcores are getting introduced then I guess Klingons get the TRIBBLE ones, Fed the good ones and Rom the pimp ones.

    As a Klingon all I can say is that I look forward to spilling Romulan blood, may finally get to add a little green to my uniform.:P

    As a Romulan, I look forward to manipulating Klingons and use them to fight my wars.

    I hope all those pessimists who said that "There will be no Romulan Faction cos Cryptic are useless..." are now ready to come one these same forums, and admit that they were wholly wrong.

    I knew Cryptic wouldn't let us down!

    Just a thought about game content. Does this mean new fleets would have to be created with a location for "Romulan" Fleet starbases/Embassies?

    Until we see an announcement we still dont know there is a Romulan faction. All I read was that the German countdown had ended and it had been announced but when I go to the German site and check I still see a 2hour countdown.

    I guess we will find out later today for sure though and if we can go Rommie I wil make 3.

    The D'deridex will have a turnrate between a Carrier and a Borg Cube.

    Seems like the German site that was online earlier was pulled offline again... but the "damage" is done. Here a picture from the screenshot section of the teaser page:

    You must have a look at the siberian STO site they are a few hours further :P

    A warbird? No. A Mogai escort? Yes. Because it's donatra's ship. :D

    And my KDF is still waiting for more ships too, by the way. :P

    have to say - i really like the new UI, and they got Tasha/Sela just right. I would almost believe it is an photo.

    the iconian ships... yeah, i've imagined something more flowing, but ...

    the romulan ships - so we've got 4 types. the small coloured one seems to be a starting BOP,
    then i see the Mogai, a BOP (loving it already, hopefully it comes with phased advanced BC) and a D'Deridex.

    i really think they will scale them with lvl (adding consoles and hull). It will be the new approach to ship advancement in STO. new rank - new Ship Module - new slot for something.
    imho a good idea.

    Those are not Iconians ship. It seems another ennemy will appear, probably another Iconian puppet.

    I wponder when the Iconians will finally make it to the game, it's annoying to wait for them.
