The worst thing about end game for me..

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Is that I miss having the more iconic ship designs. I wish I could somehow upgrade the older, more familiar and "Trek" (to me) hulls to use endgame weaponry and shields, even if it took a tremendous ingame effort.

The last tier ships aren't horrible looking ships or anything, but I end up missing my older ships a lot. I can deal with it, just wanted to lament a bit before I press onwards with my new starcruiser "space wale" looking thing.

Wait, you mean you CANT use high level equiptment on low level ships? I thought you could, you just wouldnt have as many slots as with the higher level ships. If that is the case, then that really sucks.

As far as I can tell you can use high level weapons on lower level ships. I have not left dock with them equiped.

You can use high(er) level gear on a lower ship. It's rank capped, not ship type (to date).

I must admit I'm going to miss my defiant :/

Yes. You can use higher tier.

the problem is, your defiant with admiral weaponry will ALWAYS be outgunned by the T5 ships, because of lower spots for officers, powers and weapons =/

As far as PvP goes, thats fine and how it should be TBH. I'd just like to be able to hang on to my cruiser for PvE, if possible.

I was wondering about this the other day - if we'd get to the end-game fleet actions etc. and all the ships would be more or less the same. I know there are 6 types with 3 variants each but it still seems like there should be a mix of ships that includes the smaller (and more iconic) ones. Like In First Contact - there were Saber class ships fighting along side the Akira and Sovereign class ships against the Borg.

It would be really cool IMHO if we could refit or upgrade the lower tier ships to make them viable in the higher tiers.

    Just my .02,

Ah, good to find out that we can at least put mark 10 items in the older ship slots, that helps some without making the later ships not worth upgrading into.

I dunno why I had the notion that I could not put mark 10 for example in a heavy cruiser, good to know. I might have tried it in beta and it didnt work then and got it in my head, I cant remember how I got the idea that it wouldnt work. I shoulda just given it a try I guess. :)

It will be less efective, but I wanna have fun seeing what an older ship can get away with.

I agree that it would be great if there was a tactical place for the smaller ships in the higher levels of the game.

Maybe if the death penalty was a cost to repair or replace the ship, it would encourage you to not always bring out the big guns.

    not signfcigently so though,

using the defiant as an example. compared to a T5 fleet escort you're going to have 1 less reasr weapon (proably a turret)

and the defiant ISmore manuverable then the tier 5s (signfcigently so from my experiance) so I could definatly see folks sticking with their defiance at admiral it's not quite the "total upgrade" going from galaxy to soverign is
