"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

"We are the Rats we will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your lives as they have been are over. From this time forward you will service us. Give us your cheese.'
The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done.
Fixed that for you...
Great! Only three left. Now all I need is for one of them to leave the room and then there will be only one left...
Wait, where I come from three minus one still leaves two!
Where I come from is a far more interesting place.
All this time we have been watching the Chimpanzees, but no one was watching the Rats!!!
Quick link up some cats....but then we will need to link up some Dogs to take care of them....but then what would take care of the dogs???? Monkeys DAMNIT!
Planet of the apes is inevitable, we just need to accept it.

So far as I am concerned, the old adage that suggests that 'becase we CAN do a thing does not necessarily mean that we MUST do that thing' springs to mind.
Well that's MY opinion too.
Theres also the fact that our knowlege about the brain is very VERY limited at this point... We know of it's capacity, and the average usage of most living beings of their brains is below 30%.
That means that we have between 70 and 90'ish percent of the brain, that we have no clue why it exists, and even less clue of what to use it for.
Of cause there is the concept, (witch admittedly seem like the Borg), that your thoughts and personality is stored within the brain, and as such the individuality is lost with these experiments.
What they are doing seems ethically and humanly irresponsible.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure...
What's scary about this isn't the fact their minds are linked, but they adapted. The Encoder saw the Decoder was having trouble and changed his pattern so Decoder could work more efficiently.

The way I understand it, we use around 30% at any given time(+/-10%). BUT, which 30% is in use depends on what we're doing.

Scientists don't watch Science Fiction movies much it seems. :P

Seriously though while bit creepy, interesting research.

They've actually been running the experiments on us.
Seriously... Thoose guys have no clue what they are dealing with...
To use a quote from a great film, here similar natural issues were messed with:

I think they would be the good kind.... No one ever died mining cheese.
Maybe if we tell them it's on the moon we will finally get that space program.
Resistance is Furr-tile.
BUT...if Skynet get's wind of this...then it's time to panic.
That's the most awesome drawing I've seen in awhile.
these "scientists" need locking up ideally in a maximum security prison
