Funny post. You're confusing investor and customer. When you pay for a service (let's say a prostitute), the service provider owes you the service. You get it, you consume it and the relationship between you and the hooker stops there. The brother she works in owes you nothing after that, once you get what you paid for. If the brothel decides this prostitute has to become a man, plays in movies with elephants and tigers, it's not your buisness because you didin't invest in her.
You don't invest anything in games either. Consider you're buying something you will completely consume, but it gives you no right on buisness decisions. If they are wrong for the buisness then it doesn't matter because you got what you bought earlier. If you're an investor then you have shares and you may contribute to decisions but i bet you have no right on what is done at cryptic because only perfect worlds owns the company currently. If the game fails well it's their own fault and they will be the only ones to blame. And if it's successfull, well you're in the acceptable amount of player they can afford to loose for the sake of the game after specific changes.
It disturbs me that that is the first example you cite, lol.

It's appropriate given how Cryptic has treated the player base. "Where's my money" seems to be the prevailing attitude since all we get is lockboxes and useless new ships nowadays.
How the Devs see Star Trek, apparently:
Star Trek: The Original Grind
Star Trek: The Next Grind
Star Trek: Deep Space Grind
Star Trek: Voyage to the Grind
He also requested suggestions for improvement. Friend of mine sent in a list.

Take this along with everything else.
Yet the producer wants silly dances?
Wasn't there a Roman Emperor who played music and danced as the city burned? That's what I'm seeing here I guess. Pretend outreach, doubletalk, requests for US to do YOUR job then you want us to pep you up in a meeting.
If there are any fleets or a crazy awesome group of players who've made a Harlem Shake video of their characters in game, post a link.
I'd like to feature your video at our next company meeting.
Thx
Normally this would be funny but it isn't anymore given that you aren't even bothering to post a proper response in the fleet marks thread and and that you and Cryptic can't be bothered to do quality control on patches (listening to tribble testers, for once). You also have yet to respond to the angered Klingons who are waiting on any sort of meaningful KDF storyline content to be added to the game. Either you were nearly off your rocker b/c it was so late when you posted or this is a troll post. Either way, well played. You've made us even angrier, whatever the original intention was.
On a more helpful note, our fleet did try this, but our FRAPS-Fu was weak. I'll see if I can set it up again but no promises.
And listen to Dan guys, if this bothers you, ignore it - let's not turn this into a flame thread. They don't end well.
Please try to maintain objectivity. You are borderline taking sides in the fleet marks debate. I will do my best to be polite and respectful but you guys have to keep your neutrality.
It was a simple post. It is the middle of the night. Fleets send me videos all the time and this was a harmless request.
This harmless request, as you put it, isn't. Its showing a Serious lack of connection to your players, its showing a serious lack of concern for your players. In fact, to me, it shows you just want to make fun of us. Thank you, but no.
The team is working many hours a week and addressing feedback and building our biggest update ever. If you can't have fun, then what is the point?
Exactly, whats the point? The game, isn't fun for a lot of people and the list of people is growing, fast. So what is the point? why play, why not go to another game, where you can have fun?
You'd think that a person would be given a little latitude to ask if there are any fleets that want to send in a funny video to get featured at a company meeting.
As a person who has worked in public service for a long time I WISH I had that, You seem to forget, you're the face of STO. You first job, keeping the people who give you money, happy. This, shows me all you want to do, is laugh at our expense. you want to be taken for your track record. I'd invite you to look at it closely, with a critical eye. You will see, your track record, isn't that wonderful
yes I do... just a one line post in the proper sections may just change the state of things...
something like.. we are aware of the multiple problem arised after the latest patch and we are working on it and on a way to make this game enjoyable again.. we are sorry not to have listened to the bugs report from tribble before applying the patch on holodeck and we are working on a way to smooth out things for the kdf small fleet proplem..
English its not my language and this message took me just over 30 sec
Um, you realize DStahl made such a post soon after the 'outrage' was brought to the Forums, right. (IE - He started the mega thread you want him to post in again.)

I'm a self-important internet so-and-so. I can't play STO during the day at work, but I can waste time on the forums complaining, stealing time from my boss. I have lag and keep getting disconnected. Despite there being thousands upon thousands of players not experiencing these problems, fixing them for me should be every single Cryptic employee's primary focus, to the exclusion of everything else, whether you're the game director, a character artist, a community moderator, or the janitor at Cryptic's offices. All changes ever made to the game are negative ones.
I will take any message board post, Facebook post, tweet, or exasperated yell that isn't directly in response to the issues I personally think are most important as a personal insult and a slap in the face. I will keep making this same post over and over again until my work day ends and I can go home. Until then, I proclaim solidarity with everyone like me on the boards, even if we're complaining about totally different, or even opposite, issues.
(Here, Dan, just print this out and read it 10 or 12 times a day, and you can skip the forums.)
Wow, not sure if serious. Just plain insensitive considering the problems you have brought on yourself since the last patch.
You can ignore it all you want Dan, but the problem wont go away, it will just gain more and more momentum.....
Honestly, if you thought this was a good idea and wanted Positive Community help, you should of forwarded this to BranFlakes and let OCR handle it.
Thank you for the time...
I agree, while the timing was bad, the blow might have been softened significantly by asking Bran to do this. Community activities like this, from what I can tell, are basically part of his job description, and would be normal for him to post no matter what the timing.
As it is, the timing, and the reaction to being called on it, give the appearance of an "I'd like my life back" moment. The intentions were quite probably good. It is just that this--like a number of other official communications--need to be better considered before implementation. That's how this problem was created in the first place. Please be more careful. Please don't destroy this game.

Seriously? how about dealing with some real issues?
A world to defend
A city to protect
innocents to save
"Why?" They ask "they hate you"
We're heroes it's what we do.
*patiently waiting on Paragon City*
You want us to make video's so you can show them to your bosses and try and score some kudos?
Print this thread off and the other one you created and hand them a copy of that to browse!
Look at it this way... It will certainly fill time at the meeting, even if they are all speed readers.
These posts of his in this thread make him out to be such a clueless tool, im sure that is not the case. Shoulda used a bit of Branflakes's goodwill and had him request this. Dont you have people to proof read your stuff? If you do how did they not see this backlash?
Yes, TIME AND PLACE. This may be the time to complain, but this is not the PLACE. If you think a 200+ page thread is going to go unnoticed to the point where you need to flood this message everywhere there is a dev or branflakes in sight, you need to reevaluate your strategy and consider what you really hope to achieve. What you're doing now doesn't help solve the problem. In fact, it could make it worse as I'm pretty sure the devs aren't going to open any lines of dialog on the forums especially w/ conversations that look like this. They will probably be taking advice from podcasters or large fleet leaders as that's probably the only place where a civil conversation can occur.
So what would you do? Where would you complain and how?
These forums were put here to discuss STO and topics relevant to STO. I don't know about you, but I'm quite sure that this is the place.
Regardless, where are your ideas? Where are your actions?

Yes Dan, why are you wasting time working on a video game when there are wars, hunger, and famine in the world? Go deal with some REAL issues.

The irony of this statment considering what has happened before the weekend.
Unless of course bunny tagging is considered fun and actual content, which again is pretty ironic considering your comments back 2010 (see my sig).

As this thread obviously states, this was a bad call on my part to even post this.
Over the years, we have enjoyed featuring videos created by players in our company all hands meetings. Whether that is funny dance videos that players have made, season compilations, fleet starbase progressions, or even walkthrough vidoes. It is a nice nod to the Fleets and people how make these videos to give them credit for their great sense of community.
Please accept my apologies for this post. It was the middle of the night. My daughter was very sick, and I was sitting in my living room trying to get her to go to sleep. Seemed like it would be fun, but obviously, it was not for many people.

My bet is that you won't get many takers in view of the recent... warp core breach that you guys caused...
Time and place Dan, time and place...

Dan, there's a thread with 2000+ posts asking YOU this exact question...you should check it out, brah
See... I'll dance only if I want to.
And I'll leave STO behind.
Because my fleet can't advance and if the fleet don't advance
Well we just ain't having fun at this time.
