STO Harlem Shake Videos?

dastahldastahl Member Posts: 185 Arc User
Here's something completely random...

If there are any fleets or a crazy awesome group of players who've made a Harlem Shake video of their characters in game, post a link.

I'd like to feature your video at our next company meeting.

Thx :)

It takes probably less than 30 seconds out of his day to post a thread like this. You really think that sub-30 seconds would've made much of a difference anywhere else?

Relax, people. The world never stops turning.

It was a simple post. It is the middle of the night. Fleets send me videos all the time and this was a harmless request.

The team is working many hours a week and addressing feedback and building our biggest update ever. If you can't have fun, then what is the point?

You'd think that a person would be given a little latitude to ask if there are any fleets that want to send in a funny video to get featured at a company meeting.

But if this bothers you then just ignore it.

yes I do... just a one line post in the proper sections may just change the state of things...
something like.. we are aware of the multiple problem arised after the latest patch and we are working on it and on a way to make this game enjoyable again.. we are sorry not to have listened to the bugs report from tribble before applying the patch on holodeck and we are working on a way to smooth out things for the kdf small fleet proplem..

On a more helpful note, our fleet did try this, but our FRAPS-Fu was weak. I'll see if I can set it up again but no promises.

And listen to Dan guys, if this bothers you, ignore it - let's not turn this into a flame thread. They don't end well.

While I don't expect Stahl or any other Cryptic staff member to spend every waking or online hour addressing our complaints and concerns about the game, I must admit that I can see how plenty of folks could see this post in a similar light to a President tarrying a bit before returning from vacation to the White House during an international crisis or to Nero "fiddling while Rome burned." What actually ticks me off though is seeing a moderator so quickly threaten to issue warnings to anyone who doesn't toe the line.

You won't see me setting anything on fire here, but you also won't see me making any goofy videos either because I've been too busy dealing with the latest glitches and bugs, grinding on multiple characters, and dodging the latest nerfs. (How many tricobalt nerfs are we going to get before PvP'ers who can't seem to escape "tric noobs" stop whining and ruining the fun for those of us who enjoy using them to dramatic effect in PvE? Oh well, I can still do some astounding things with them so there.)

What's got people all riled up? The game break down or something?
Only issue I was aware of last night was that the Borg doff unlock didn't work...

Anyway, curious to see what people'll come up with :)

I didn't even know what this was until this post. I had to look it up.

It is stupid. It is incredibly stupid. I cannot APPROVE IT HARD ENOUGH.

I would assist in this endeavor but as you say, Dan, it's the middle of the night and I don't think anyone from my fleet is on. However, I approve of posts like these and want to see more. :)

Fair enough. I find myself defending the devs, on here and the blog, about as often as criticizing them. Still, after the way the last patch was rushed from tribble straight to holodeck I'd say the player base's tempers are gonna be running a wee bit hot this week. :D

We'll see how it all plays out, but I think a post such as this would receive a much better response at a more opportune moment. Perhaps after the Andorian ship is finally released in all its glory and, hopefully, we're all either happy flying them around or blowing them up.

Less time wasting time on this week's gangnam style and more time spent on current game breaking issues ie. http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=552391

Pretty much tired of the game in general. I'll log in and hang at kerrat, sit on vent with fleeties but for the time being I'm done with doing anything. CBS needs to pull Fed focusing grindtrek Online from Perfect World and Cryptic, before its IP is skull dragged through more mud like the two dollar hooker it has become.

You mean like how the tray powers have never activated properly or how last night a fleet officer was kicked from fleet instead of the inactive account he was clicking on.. or perhaps how I clicked Exit STO earlier and had it exit my OS instead etc.. does that not sound broken?

or how at every turn one class or another is completely dwarfed by another and how every skill is turned into a complete wast of boff slot yet there is nothing ELSE to slot?

or how every time a patch hits tribble we can expect it in its entirety regardless of community feed back to hit holodeck bugs included!

and lets not forget all these connectivity issues on top of it all whats the last straw before you guys get it through your skulls we want a real star trek online not the one we have that's just slapped on top of a cheapo champions online engine....

maybe you guys need to take a season out to work on bugs and slow the heck down?

I would like to see tribble patches hit holodeck a week after they have been tested first, surely 24 hours of testing isnt enough... A week's testing before something goes live seems logical right?

Or how about our weapons randomly get 2-mintue cooldowns, things are still missing from the fleet weapon store (Tetryon turrets with Acc modifiers), or just the general lag that has been around since S7 launched...not to mention the almost endless grind...

All these bugs/grinds/other problems just turn people off the game, which means less people playing the game, which means less people spending money on the game, which means less money for PWE...

Why does he even have to mention that when the bug was brought up as soon as people found it in the forums, and other devs were quick to chime in and help track it down and work on fixing it already?

I know that the next tribble patch has a fix for the 2-minute glitch...but the point is...it shouldn't have happened in the first place...

and on top of that stahl should be apologizing for some of these mistakes as the team under him can't be arsed to check the tribble forum....where the bug was reported multiple times before it went to holodeck!

this happens over and over where the community finds a bug in the tribble patch before holodeck and 24 hours later we get a release with these bugs i wish they would slow down

they may be working hard for the next season etc. but that should be no excuse for such a game breaking bug!

Yeah...I'm not the right guy to ask. I still don't know what Gangham Style is let alone this new act of viral idiocy.

That aside, I would have thought it more fun for those who like this stuff just to do it themselves. Get a group together, go to Drozana and get everyone doing it.

Record it and you have the footage, and since I rarely go to Drozana I'll probably miss the whole thing. Everybody wins!

Dan you come on here and tell us that you are yanking rewards from missions... because actual results don't meet internal metrics. "you the players are not playing the game right, here is your punishment. "

On top of that we've suffered some rather catastrophic gameplay bugs -- ONE OF WHICH IS UNADDRESSED in the latest patch.

Now you want us to post silly theme videos to boost your position at the next company meeting.

Frankly sir, no. The next company meeting should be management showing you the door.

:D how true how true most fleets will be too busy between the bugs and having to grind to be competitive to even consider doing funny stuff to show off to the devs who should be working not dilly dallying watching videos(now change your shorts and get back to work!)

I'm at work three hours early to address a serious customer complaint. Unpaid too I might add, I'm salary. Can't have angry customers, they may pull contracts and take their business elsewhere.

Looks like it's going to be a busy day. Once the materials I need arrive I'll be too busy fabricating a solution to the problem to watch silly videos all day.

Take note, Dan. THIS is customer service. THIS boosts my position at the next meeting. Not videos of some online fad.

Lucky you :). Like many other memes it became so popular so fast that it was driven into the ground in less than two weeks. Even Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have done it.

Best ones have been where they break the usual mold. Hopefully we'll see something completely random.
