PC Configuration Survey Feb 2013

Just wanted to do a survey on what people are running as of this post and help the devs aim their optimistaions towards the most common setups as time persists. this is a general survey list, if you do wish to provide more feel free to link in a dxdiag (for linux users please refer to how to get system info in linux).

    Disclaimer: I'm really more of a software guy than a hardware guy, so this is my best guess. I bought this one (Alienware X51) around Christmas after my 4 year old XPS died.

    I'm thinking that Cryptic probably has a mechanism in the game already that they can use to find out average player specs....

    I consider myself part of the community tech staff as a resident guru player, but I been helping when and where I can going back to beta.

    I would actively encourage people to lie through their respective teeth and give the lowest possible spec they can think of so rather than increasing system requirements over time we can make the game more widely available to others.

    So I will throw out a Netbook with a 1.6GHz process and 2GB RAM. 128MB onboard graphics and running windows xp.

    Yeah the game runs on it but recently the requirements have crept up so now I can only move if the UI is turned off. It really is silly just how much processing power that the power tray takes.
    Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

    Afaik the computer hardware / OS details are transmitted when the game-client connects to the server OR when a crash report is filled.

    With the appropriate software / script, Cryptic can easily generate a report with an overview of all computer(hardware) running the game.

    There's no need to post this here :D

    But thumbs up for the idea :)

    Just thought It be nice to help build a survey since now is about the time when people either upgrade or rebuild their systems. ;)

    I also think that Cryptic as all the tools they need to assess hardware. Furthermore, i belive that the game should remain backwards compatible with lower en computers so that more people can play the game, that is why graphical settings exist (min/max detail, debris, particles,etc.)

    I play the game on such a premise, albeit i am a super-tweaker, so for lols, here's my setup...

    Sweet rig. And although not impossible, I think trident vid card and cd rom drive are slightly anachronistic in this build.

    I also wanted to note that I'm using an Asus VG236H monitor and a 3D vision kit... Would love to see STO 3d vision ready. Just sayin.

    Here is my specs for my pc, not brillient but runs STO ok untill last satuday where i enabled post processing in game as suggested (top of page) and now stuck in 256 mode & full screen, then closes with a crash reporter...
    think i will try a rollback when i get the chance but really hope it can be fixed,got withdraw symptoms allready
