Good grief. Is everyone complaining about waiting for 1 hour 45 minutes? The devs are making sure the game is running well so that they don't have a freaking BOATLOAD of complaints about "IT'S BROKEN!!!1!1!!1 FIX IT NOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'd rather have it down an extra hour and have the game work with virtually no bugs, than the game be done an hour earlier and have it overrun with problems.

miserable miserable service. i've had the game for 3 days now and have been unable to use it for two of those because of constant errors and server down time. can't believe people pay for a game that does this so often. it's not even possible to get to the end of a thread because of the sheer number of posts about the game being down.

Didn't have enough exploration and discovery for me. The station was well... stationary! That pretty much killed the show for me. That and the fact that it was more soap opera like than some of the other Star Trek shows I've watched.

ya that was my issues with DS9 as well... I often wonder if ill appreciate it more now that I am a bit older then I was when it aired.

Your attempt at humor is not appreciated! When you do return, your Ambassador class star ship will be filled with tribbles, replicating themselves, at a rate of 1,000,000,000,000 to the 3rd power per second. You will be in the nth star system, sharing a bunk with William Shatner. Resistance....is.....futile!

Not sharing a bunk with the Shatner! There's a reason they call him the "Shat"ner you know!

    Watch "Yesterday's Enterprise". ;) That's what I'm doing.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

    Hi Captains,

We are still on track to be finished at noon PST. We're going to do one more test in just a few minutes, though, that should not affect our ETA. I'll make a post in here when we'd like you to try the launcher again. Thanks for your patience and understanding -- the data we and our routing vendor are getting has been crucial, so thank you again for all of the help with testing :)

    Cheers,

We do not got a problem with an hour or two of extra downtime. But we DID have a problem on it while we are waiting on third anniversary and the Ambassador-Class.

Hey Brandon - didn't get a chance to post my last results, but the nameservers routed me through France (from Western Michigan). I was able to download and patch, though. :)

    Switching IPs:

I am seriously confused here. I have worked for a third party vendor, worked with a third party vendor and can appreciate the need for working with each other a lot. I imagine the phone call was made by the vendor that (guessing) "hey, we would like to know the tracing for the launcher." And the person on the phone was like: "sure, next thing we'll do this." But, you picked the day of a much hyped event.

So you didn't take the time to do it Monday, fine, they may have asked after Monday. You didn't spawn a random test bright and early Tuesday or Wednesday; better yet Friday. The choice was today (Thursday, January 31st).

Europe is off work, eating and doing things Americans (Canada, Brazil, US, ect.) aren't. Some are night shift, some are college students, and others on "vacation." So on the opening day of the Anniversary celebration is perhaps, not the best day to set this.

I'm not particularly angry about this, but I can see where some of the fan-base may be really angry. After-all, how necessary was the testing? This is unquantifiable for the fans. Please Cryptic, for your sake, try to think about these things as not to alienate your subscribers.
Could not have said it better myself. I completely agree.

    Riker: Whats the Problem

Devs: I had to shut down the server for maintenance

    Riker: Why?

Devs: We had Launcher patch containment Nothing to worry about

Riker: We are on the verge of the 3rd Year Anniversary with no Servers and your not concerned?

Devs: We will have the Servers back online in no time.

Riker: Like you Tracked down that faulty Patch processing accelerator.

Devs: We are running a LV 1 diagnostic

Riker: For 3 Hours It would not take you more than 1. You are incapable of that level of incompetence
