Many people hope it's the Romulan faction but it's highly unlikely, the devs stated no 3rd faction before the KDF one is done, which is good. It's probably a featured episode involving Romulans. Like the 2800. :)

I strongly suspect you're right. They said they'll decide on the future of factions in 2013 and Season 8 would have a number of feature episodes. If they already had one *done* for Season 8 then I think the language on factions would be more clear. DStahl has already talked about how much work it'd be to make a faction, and openly questioned if it'd even be a good idea. A number of episodes on Romulans = yes. A new playable faction = not this time.

Well they do have on the offical release wiki that May is going to bring about a new Romulan Adventure Zone, so that is probably all that last bit was about. I want a Romulan faction more than anyone out there (bet you anything!), but I don't think it's coming in May.

I'm with the new FE series crowd myself on this one. We'll find out what the teaser means in a few months.

Realistically speaking, what would it take to complete the Klingon faction? Around 22 missions including a tutorial?

They don't have to be as advanced as featured episode missions or "Alpha", just on par with Fed missions for the equivalent levels. Given their recent staffing up, Cryptic could probably drum these up within the timeframe.

The hope of a Romulan playable faction is a big one. Will it be levels 1-50 off the bat? God No! But levels 1-10 or 20, possibly.

If they did it right, they could re-skin the KDF tutorial for the Romulan faction, and KDF levels 1-22 could have overlap with Romulan levels 1-10, same missions told from different perspectives.

I agree. If it wasn't a playable Romulan faction, they would have said so by now.

While watching this http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/01/30/star-trek-online-three-year-anniversary/ I saw web address at the end of the video. It links here: http://sto.perfectworld.com/sto_may2013 , it's part of the site but I see no links to it. If its just the name of the new season, why the secrecy?

    says

Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar AND SELA

sounds to me like they either have more Sela coming in future content OR that she also voiced old content where Sela was already included. ...or if we are real lucky BOTH.

If they actually hit upon doing that considering the money they spent on this VO then I'd be impressed.

It's not secrecy, it's a teaser. Designed to do exactly what it has done -- start conversations and building interest.

SWTOR maintains just under 1mil active accounts, L1 and L2 still around 1mil each, another NC title 2.5mil, WoW Global 10mil. Best and most 'recent' estimates for STO (and this info is REALLY hard to find since Cryptic is oh-so 'cryptic' about, well....anything) put it between 200k-250k as an extremely rough estimate. EVE sits at 350k-400k or so and CCP isn't trying to keep anything secret, they regularly release their statistics. I personally find it unlikely that STO would be much closer to EVE's numbers than that, 'F2P' or not.

Also, with the fiscal 'troubles' PWE has had end of Q3 last year despite the release of a new title seems to indicate not very much is being generated from this corner of the Galaxy even worth mentioning....well except NW.

    Dear Cryptic,
Please don't create a viral-esque website location and blip on a trailer and not deliver what the obvious expectation is and then play dumb as if you thought people wouldn't think what they thought it meant.

IE: If this does NOT mean a Romulan Playable faction then you need to state that NOW. Otherwise you're bringing hate down on yourselves. Also, if it does mean a Romulan Faction you need to clarify that you've got content coming to fill out the Klingons at the same time. Otherwise, more hate.

Unless you're all morons (which I highly doubt is the case) or your marketing people are morons (which, based on past history IS likely) you've got to understand the shear amount of hate you're generating with this if you don't set our expectations to where they should be.

    You've been warned :P

EDIT: Can we get a wallpaper of that?

+1 to this, the music was a nice touch. I've done some searching of my own and found similar music but alas, not what I want. :(

+2. It's very epic and I'd like to hear it without any background noise. (no offense to Dstahl :P)

Why do I get the feeling that this anniversary episode will involve me trying to help Tasha escape and therefore being responsible for getting her killed
