#1 its MAY, it says so in the URL already...
    #2 ...trek knowledge fail bro

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Time_of_Awakening

"The change was brought on by a Vulcan named Surak, who preached a philosophy of using logic to control emotions, as well as total pacifism. He was effective in spreading his teaching across Vulcan, though he encountered heavy resistance from many Vulcans, especially "those who marched beneath the raptor's wings", even starting a nuclear war. Although Surak died of radiation sickness at Mount Seleya shortly before the last battle against these factions, his writings were preserved in the Kir'Shara. "

tl'dr: "march beneath the raptor's wings" = Romulan Slogan

I wrote March because I was thinking of the Slogan as I was writing it, my bad. I know it was May.

And I am aware of what it means, but it could possibly have a double meaning in this.

I think he means the STO Ambassador's Nacelles are larger than the Ambassador Studio Model. And I have to agree, looks larger than it should be.

Will need to see a side view to compare it.

There is a side view on yesterday's devblog. They look about right to me.

Many people hope it's the Romulan faction but it's highly unlikely, the devs stated no 3rd faction before the KDF one is done, which is good. It's probably a featured episode involving Romulans. Like the 2800. :)

Or maybe it's a Romulan faction and the Dev's have been called liars so many times in the past that at this point they are like...TRIBBLE it lets take this hit.:D

Really, 2 million players? Come on now. Maybe 2 million characters created since release, but 2 million players is doubtful.

video is still there for me...

    notable detail:

    the infographic

    http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2013/01/Star-Trek-Online-infographic.jpg

    lower right corner

    says

Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar AND SELA

sounds to me like they either have more Sela coming in future content OR that she also voiced old content where Sela was already included. ...or if we are real lucky BOTH.

They deleted the video from youtube, then re-uploaded it.
I made several posts on other forums with it embedded, I had to go and edit those posts to update the video link because they deleted the original I linked to.

Whoa, 2 Million accounts, really? Is that showing ALL accounts, or does it snip out spammer accounts that have been banned? And does it reflect on active accounts, or does it include inactive ones as well?

It is amazing how I am seeing this interpreted as players or accounts. The fact is Stahl said 2 Million Captains. I highly doubt that the number is a representation of the number of accounts /players. Just taking the statement as is, that means the number of player characters with no qualification of the time-frame. So yes, I would believe that there have been 2 million characters created in the game since it's launch.

Now active players/accounts is a completely different ball game and it depends on what you define as "active". Last 6 months, 3 months, month, or week? Just from my experiences in game, scanning zones, etc... I would venture to guess that the number of active monthly players is hovering around 40-50K. That is being generous, try getting a Klingon 20 man Fleet Action to pop!

If they make a Romulan faction I will be so happy. I don't even mind if it's half-finished like the kDF faction (which I play all the time). It's unlikely, but maybe they are so confident that Season 8 will bring enough KDF content that it will be considered finished enough.

It's too early for a Romulan Faction. We all know how long it takes Cryptic to push major content & there have been no hints that this was already underway.

My thought is that considering Denise Crosby has been billed as Yar AND Sela this is going to be the new FE Series that has been brought up previously for 2013.

It will probably involve the return of Sela after her "abduction" by the Iconians. My guess is that we will get a 5 story arc that involves her Romulan faction being backed by the Iconian, or even Tholians, and trying to conquer New Romulus.

Also, that's a new Romulan symbol on the page... and unseen faction perhaps?

If a Romulan faction is introduced I would gamble that it would be a primarily rep based faction and not level conventionally like we do now. I sense a new mechanic incoming.

video looks awsome! great action with the new ships! really looking forward to both, especially the kdf one actually. great views of the ambasidor, its texturing is spot on, looks like it has great detail, except for lacking torp bays and escape pods under the saucer. ;)

i do have a slight concern though, at 2:31 in the vid the ambassador is firing beams from in front of the nacelle strut, not from the strut. its not gonna have that problem in game right?

also im not sure what else march under the raptors wing could mean other then play as a romulan. i just hope its not play an episode and have your new romulan captain join ether fedration of klingons :(

So Dan Stahl has said that the next major expansion is going to be big, too big to be called a season.

He's also said 'season 8' is going to be big for the Klingons.

Today we get the biggest cloak tease ever...

Could 'Season 8' be as big as he claims? Could it bring closure to the Klingons and Open up a new Romulan faction?

I wouldn't get your hopes up for Season 8 being the "Big Klingon update", or the "Klingon Season" we've heard this twice before already... while those two instances did bring a small amount of KDF-exclusive content -they were mostly hype.

buuuut it would be awesome to finally get some more parity between the Red & Blue.

As usual this man is one of the smart ones.

If this does somehow turn out to be that "Romulan mini-faction for 5 levels then you join one of the others", it's going to be a massive kick in the you know what's though. Because that idea is brutally awful. But the designers themselves have sort of backtracked on that one because I think they realize it's really a waste in the end too.

Very hopeful that season 8 fleshes out the KDF more, probably with a Romulan story war. Would be nice to see them make a big return as the baddies. That would lay the framework for finishing off the KDF, and developing the Romulans properly as a full faction in Season 9 and beyond.

Exciting times to play STO. This game is getting bigger all the time and I for one love it.

In a way the KDF gets more content from the original Romulan/Klingon Alliance but perhaps with that thing at the end... That might be wishful thinking its either gonna be a new faction, a 3 way alliance, or a 3 way war LOL :D

Overall though Cryptic must have listened to comments before about trailer footage of things that were never in the game and watched this trailer and it was all stuff you can currently find in the game. The 2 new ships we knew of in the trailer of stuff in the game made it fit very well good job Cryptic :)

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

I'm thinking the Romulan teaser page is the next feature episode. The last episode had a BOFF, space set, and ground set for the reward. Since we already have a space set, through the reputation system, I'm guessing it will be a ground set, a BOFF, something tied into the DOFF system and maybe-just maybe- a cool ship.

Now, technical question. The video looks like it was filmed in game. So if it was, what resolution was it? How do I get sick looking graphics like that?

Sorry, I'm just not seeing it.

I've looked over every shot of the studio model I can find; the width of the nacelles seems correct, as does their length. I thought the hight might have been off, but then realized the side view I was comparing it to was the refit model where the nacelles had been lowered, and not the Ent-C. Looking at the C, the height seems about right.

If the Cryptic model has the proportions wrong, it isn't by much.

Not really. Everywhere I go there are multiple full and active instances. Even DS9 is still active even though they moved the STF store into the reputation menu. And when I queue up for missions I nearly always get in instantly or at most wait for 2 or 3 minutes at any time of day. In most other MMOs I usually have to wait 20 minutes at the least if I'm lucky. And the abundance of foundry missions and zen on the dl market speaks volumes for the population as well. Even if 2 million is stretching the figures, I think at the very least, we're close to a million.

It was just as crowded or more during release week. And they admitted to having over 200k accounts active back then. It would be closer to 500k and that's being liberal.
