No sci ships, huh? Good, I'll have an excuse to break out my Engi again. Everyone keeps telling me he is useless in today's STO.

Ya know.. I had my complaints about the tournament. But I probably won't be able to participate anyway. So why bother? Good luck.

Isn't there a dominion lockbox coming in the next few weeks? Should allow whatever ships were in that, too.

What does the tourny have to do with this themed one off ever I'm hosting?

Ah well I'm just trying to do a monthly themed event. Last month was the original Star Trek and it was a blast.

Sadly the dominion is limited to their ships and in pretty sure I covered all the active combat type of ships during the dominion war for the Feds and Klingons.

If you don't like this layout there's always next months "TNG wars" theme :)

Actually, it's not the Dominion side that feels off, but the entire Fed side.

Akira can't use Torpedo Console or Pets.

MVAM is even allowed, and can't use MVAM console? (Might be a little Care bear of me, but wasn't the MVAM not even available during the dominion War and it didn't even show up till LATE in Voyager?)

And the B-rel R? Uhh... shouldn't it be restricted to the Hegh'ta?

    Not to mention the Steamrunner...?

    Defiant..can't cloak? Derp?

I just don't recall any of those ships really being Valid during that time frame. But then again I am no where near an aficionado of all things Trek, or even anything near close to knowledgeable when it comes to all the ships that were available in the Dominion War Era of Trek. /nerdmoment

You are right about the ships. If we are going for the "reality" thingy, then Defiant and Prometheus should be banned too. Prometheus prototype was fielded after the Dominion War ended and as far as I know the Defiant was in prototype stage during the war and second Defiant (renamed Sao Paulo?) was the first ship from production series. So it really has no place in the War.

Dunno about Klinks, but I thought they were flying only standard BoPs (don't know what class is their equivalent in STO), Vor'chas and D7/K'T'Ingas. There was only one Negh'Var: the flagship of Empire so it should be banned too.

As for the event - sadly it's the evening sunday so a nope for me.

sounds like fun i m not sure i can make it but will post in SVR events.

we could have a b'rel simulating the mine layer around the wormhole (and also record the thing) kind of as an evironemental hazard.

    Nebula should ok, no??

Happy Snix day -cause everyday is snix day from now on

I've included the promethius in the fed side of things so they could have a lt cmdr sci station. I know its the only "out of place" ship on the fed side but it'll have to do.

The defiant class was active during the war, the use valiant comes to mind.

The defiant class by default does not have a cloaking device in Star Trek only the use defiant and S?o Paulo does.

The steam runner was introduced the same time as the Norway and Akira were (first contact) and used through out the dominion war.

The nebula is sadly classed as a science ship so no science ships for the dominion war.

Sadly, the Brel refit is the only bird of prey from that era and since the only Brel you can get now is the retrofit and fleet retrofit... It'll have to do.

I'm making due with the little ship selection there is :)

And again if you don't agree with my decision then there's always TNG wars next month :)

This is so awesome, I must have been sleeping on the last one. The time is highly questionable for me, it's going to be 50/50 whether I can make it, but if it's physically possible I will be there.

I'm excited to pew with a bunch of my favorite people in a low stakes environment. This reminds me of that thing I used to have in video games before I became a meta-gaming min/maxxer... what was it called... oh yeah, "fun!"

    Mostly correct!

I also like to think the federation wouldn't send science vessels to the active front line of combat.

Maybe when I have my "VOYAGER wars" well see those pesky science ships ;)

The Prometheus test (Voyager message in a bottle) was season 4. It was under testing before the DS9 epsiode In the Pale Moonlight, as it is stated the Romulans have not yet joined the Dominion war. During that episode, there are a pair of Defiant class ships seen in full operation. So Defiant class ships were in full oepration during the dominion war. Weither the Prometheus was or not is debateable, as one was never seen again until Voyager got home well after the war ended. But at least the prototype was built and operational in the war.

That episode also featured a Nebula class, so they were still in operation. And the Intrepid Bellaraphon was in use during the latter stages of the war.

This sounds fun. I'd love to take part in my breen ship, but the time is way wrong for me. I'm GMT. But have fun everyone.

Are we speaking about these nebulas with torpedo mission pods ? Nebulas did actively participate in dominion war and are clearly visible in DS9 series during several battles. /fanboyism off.

The only possibly science heavy ship we can use here is Klingon. The B'rel.

Hmmm, so that's why they sent all those awesome Mirandas instead? :) Dalnar is correct though, there are some Nebulas seen and also mentioned as active front line ships. Well, I'm out, but lots of fun to everyone.

Ignore me, I need to learn to read. Someone already brought up my concern regarding the MVAM.
I also like to think the federation wouldn't send science vessels to the active front line of combat.
Well, the Dominion War was all or nothing. They threw EVERYTHING they had at the war effort, even their old ships the pulled out of the closet. They were breaking the prime directive out of desperation, trying to conscript underdeveloped civilizations as meat shields and servicemen to replace the massive losses they were taking. I imagine if they had pure science vessels which were mostly used for peace but had defensive systems, they'd have thrown them at the brick wall to try to break it.

That's not entirely true. STO classifies them as purely science vessels, but from the source material that's not accurate at all. The Intrepid is a long range scout vessel designed to also be usable as a fast recon ship. The Nebula is described as being a multi-role ship capable of performing all sorts of missions (point of interest, it's a Nebula that exposed Romulan involvement in the Romulan civil war not by science, but by shooting things). The closest of the three to a "pure science" ship was the Nova, which was designed as a planetary scout ship, but still carried a pretty hefty tactical loadout for a ship it's size.

Neither side has access to a cmdr science spot unless you're in the super fragile Brel.

That's the reason no nebulas or other science ships. Both sides have equal access to a lt cmdr science slot.

As I've said, either take part in one of the listed ships or wait for a themed event that has your favorite ship listed :)
