On the 25th, Christmas Day, I was logged into my character Red and doing an STF. My internet failed due to a problem at my ISP's end, and I was disconnected mid-game. When I logged back in a few minutes later to try to continue the STF, the rename button on the character screen had been depressed for Red without my clicking it. There was no way to log into the character or disable the rename button, I could only change the name or log in with another character. I submitted a ticket to PWE and waited. I spent four days playing other characters, but I had winter dailies to do and so I changed my character's name to Redd and continued playing.
Five days later, I got a response, which was basically "check the terms of service on naming conventions" which has nothing to do with my ticket, as the name was not changed by a dev. I told them that was not the problem and waited. I just now got another email saying the exact same thing. PWE is not going to help, and the in-game ticket system keeps eating my tickets, so my only hope is to post here.
Obviously answers that are wrong:
1.) A dev changed my character's name. I have had a ship renamed before and this was not the case. There was no "badname908109431" or whatever in the place of my character's name, it was exactly the same as before, I simply could no longer use it. Not to mention, point out the part to me where "Red" is offensive or violates the TOS.
2.) I clicked the rename button. I had no Zen at the time, and renames cost 350 Zen, so unless the game gifted me a free rename that I didn't want, no. Also I've never purchased a rename token, ever, and I didn't click the button. I just logged in and it was already hit.
Now the only thing I can think is that either I got a free rename token from veteran stuff and it got used somehow, which seems unlikely, or the game just straight up broke when my internet died mid-STF. I don't know, either way, but I do know that I didn't click the bloody rename button and now I've lost my bloody character name that I will have to pay for Zen just to get back, assuming it will even let me retake the same name.
The ticket I submitted is #1,451,604 in the event that it's somewhere out there in the internets and I just can't see it. Any assistance on this issue would be greatlly appreciated.
