Entourage plead

vesterengvestereng Member Posts: 2,252 Arc User
I basically went through the romulan reputation for just 2 items one of which is the entourage.

Now I don't care for consumables so I took note of all items that read consumables.

Entourage is the only reputation item that doesn't warn you it's consumable and it's the only non-combat pet in the entire game that is not permanent.

So my plead is for common sense really, I don't care about the price of the item but please make it permanent.

Soooo...... it is a consumable? Lame sauce. If you're going to go that far for a Pet, then for goodness sake, it'd better be permanent.

4 hrs total use. And while the T5 status screen says "Vanity item", the projects themselves say: "Consumable: Romulan/Reman Diplomatic Entourage" on them.

    Caveat Emptor.

Yep, I was also very disappointed when I saw that. A 'pet' which disappears after 4 hours? This is ridiculous. Make it cost 750 Romulan marks and 30.000 dilithium for all I care, but make it a permanent vanity item!

I totally agree. I couldn't believe it when I hit tier 5, excited to buy my entourage pets, only to discover this terrible 4-hour garbage. Cryptic, please reconsider this!

Consumable, and costs 15,000 GPL. Pass. TRIBBLE you to the developer who thought that up.

HAHA nice joke ! Wait, that's not a joke ?
Yeah 15K dil for a 4h non combat pet, sound so exiting...

I planned to take one of them, now I won't. Thanks for the warning, saved 15K dil.

That's really disappointing... and I was planning on getting both sets.

If it's a vanity item, why give it a timer at all?

And speaking of vanity items, I was extremely disappointed about the time limit on personal holoprojectors too. So much for buying a Jem'Hadar First and a Breen one. I can see you giving it a cooldown if, say, the Borg drone one let you slip past other drones in ground STFs... but they're not even functional in combat.

Won't bother getting them. Way to make us feel rewarded for hitting T5. Bad form, sirs. :(

No, they cost 10 Romulan Marks, 1.000 Dilithium and 15.000 GPL. It sounds reasonable but it's just annoying to have a 'pet' item which vanishes after such a short time. I doubt many players will bother, in fact I have yet to see someone with an Romulan/Reman entourage.

Cryptic, please raise the cost to whatever silly amount of Dilithium you find suitable but make it a standard pet without a set timer.

This. I was actually considering this for amusement factor, but no, it doesn't last forever. How sad. That's another of my dollars lost. :(

They understood that players hated to pay for consumables with lockboxes, but some genuis had the idea to put more consumables in the dilithium stores and in the rep projects. I guess designers always forget what they learnt a few weeks before.

And it'll take months of rant on the forums to change something that shouldn't even exist in game. :(

...AND since GPL is basically useless anywhere else in the game, most players don't even bother racking it up. If you have to earn 15k to purchase this vanity item, that means hours of Dabo (boooorrrriiiinnng), keeping fingers crossed that DOff assignments will produce, and so on - not to mention doing so MULTIPLE times if you actually want this item. Too much grind already, but for something not permanent?

Well, thanks to those who found out the truth, your sacarifice will be remembered. And not really joking.

Come on, you made the winter boots and all that stuff non-consumable, what's up with this?

Having actually seen one used (Yes, I have), it summons two big gorilla bouncer Remans (haven't seen the rom one), who constantly spout lines like "You have done great things for our people."

I assume the duration was given to prevent people absolutely filling social areas with the damn things.

-edit- If they were to make these permanent, they would need a long cooldown and a duration, similar to the Shard of Possibilities. I would hate to see ESD/DS9 filled with Reman/Romulan bouncers following every single player around.

Yes, it does say so, AFTER unlocking all tiers of the romulan reputation system, while the description of tier 5 just mentions a 'vanity item', not a consumable.

We have already over a dozen pets in this game and yet you see only few players using them. I therefore doubt social areas will be overrun by Romulans/Remans if they would be made permanent.

Most of those pets are store-bought, and the epohhs can be made into marks. I expect if they were more accessible, they would be more common.

You can get every pet this game has to offer on the exchange for low amounts of EC and still you see only few of them.

Yeah, just got the Romulan Entourage last night, only to find that it's only a 4 hour party. :(

I support making them permanent. On that notiion, please make ship Holo-emitters also permanent. I will pay big dilithium for permanent ship holo-emitters too!

Vanity items should not be consumable, period. If these guys fought, that would be one thing. Please make these things, and the holo emitters, perminate please. Then i would purchase them.

Think about it this way, you are essentially paying a romulan or reman to follow you around for four hours. They have their own lives to get back to, but they are willing to follow you around because you helped their people. (Plus that 15k GPL and 1k dilithium incentive can't hurt.) I am glad to see they are consumables. If they weren't they would effectively be nothing more than a Starfleet captain's personal slave. I am fairly certain forced servitude of a sentient being is against Starfleet regulations.

Now the KFD would be a bit of a different story. However, I am really dreading the day Cryptic rolls out the KFD reputation system. It is likely such a tier V reward will have an Orion Entourage. Just what we need, Starfleet captains running around Earth Spacedock with their own personal Orion slaves. Yeah...that's certainly cannon...in the mirror universe. The Tholians must have merged the mirror universe with our universe. It was bound to happen, not enough players protecting Nakura.

    I couldn't disagree more.

    First of all:
    en?tou?rage
    [ahn-too-rahzh]
    noun
    1.
a group of attendants or associates, as of a person of rank or importance

... having an escort or a "pose" only makes sense in that you became a diplomat to new romulus.
As far as enslaving what are ALL other pets in the game then.

Not that I think talking about canon is an argument at all but in addition the things you point out make no sense within your own framework.

Buttom line I'd love to use the item but now I won't be. So in my view they have to weigh if they want people to get that item or not and that's basically all there is to it.

Not sure where to post this, so feel free to move it to a more appropriate sub-forum. This covers both Fed/KDF so I can't put it in either one of the Fed/KDF gameplay subforum.

Anyway.. this is an appeal to make the Romulan/Reman Entourage a permanent non-combat pet vs the current 4hrs limited time use. As it is now, it is not very appealing to get.

Furthermore, it does not improve and combat stats, so unlikely players will get it repeatedly (unless you're THAT vain).

You made frosted boots permanent item and it was very well received by the community.

Agreed. All vanity stuff need to be permanently available imo after purchase.
Otherwise I'm not going to waste my time/resources.
