What I cannot figure out is... "If" Cryptic does have plans to overhaul the PvP experience, why is everyone wasting their time with the PvP Boot Camp? Once Cryptic puts the new system into place (PvP Reputation System), the new environments and difficulties settings will change playing styles.
Establishing a PvP Boot Camp prior to the system's overhaul may cause Cryptic to stall.
Look at what happened to the featured episodes. As a result of Cryptic adding the Foundry Spotlight, they stalled the release and development of new featured episodes.
Cryptic is just using the player base as an excuse to stall the development of a new PvP system.
The PvP Boot Camp is designed to teach only the basics of the game, things like focus fire, cross healing, etc.
For now we're not teaching advanced tactics or something very related or specific to the current pvp system, just the basics, this is kindergarten.
mrkollins is right. Boot Camp = PvP Kindergarten. Once the first class has graduated--sometime in March--we will launch a number of new initiatives that will cater to more advanced players. For instance, I had a conversation yesterday with a prominent member of the PvP community (I cannot mention his name because he has not given me permission to do so on this matter) about having an advanced pre-made class. Said person would bring together two premade teams, give them instruction on advanced tactics, etc.
We will also try to have advanced classes on things like healing, science, tactical, etc.
Boot Camp is currently about kindergarten issues, but it will not stay that we. We hope to include more advanced courses in the coming days.
Just want to say cheers to the coaches and cryptic for settin up and runnin this boot camp, although I agree there was not much information gained that i did not already know it was worth it just for gettin to know and now added pvp friends.
I look forward to the rest of the boot camp and hats off to these guys for volunteerin there time and patience to bestow this knowledge for our benefit
Cheers Stryke and see u on the battlefield
P.S - linyive why dont u take ur negativity somewhere else, this game is F2P and u can achieve so much in this game without ever payin a penny so ur comment -

Within roughly a six month's period, I have bought over $200 worth of zen. If I didn't believe in Cryptic's ability to do better, I would not have invested a dime into the system. I am just questioning the usefulness of the PvP Booty Camp, for it has been introduced prior to the new system. Instead of coasting on the system freely, why don't you start paying for your expense in server usage? Even though this system is Free to Play, I am paying for the services in which Cryptic is providing. You are not talking to your average Free to Play player. I am paying my way. If Cryptic wants me to continue to invest, I think they have to come up with something better.

How about going deeper into the basics now? Could you guys teach players about exercising good etiquette? You can teach people about why they should not rage spam the chat room. How about teaching them the reasons why they should not camp at the competition's respawn points? Etc... Since you have everyone's undivided attention, perhaps you can use it to do something positive.
While good sportsmanship can be shown to an individual, its up to the individual to pratice it themselves and unfortunately some do not care to do so.
You are asking for something beyond the control of the coaches of PvP bootcamp.
I still think thier core purpose is best. Dispeling the average PvE'ers and budding PvP'ers dislike and distrust of PvP by showing them how to use the system and hopefully improve.
Will the PvP Boot Camp become a requirement for playing PvP events? Even if it were possible for that to happen it wouldn't. Cryptic isn't going to spend time on an aspect of the game and stop people from playing it right off the bat like that.
Will the PvP Boot Camp enforce the use of TeamSpeak in all PvP events? Why would it? Unless you have a legitimate problem with TS, all students that have signed up for bootcamp are required to be on TS so they can hear coaches speaking. In such fast paced gametype, there simply isnt time to type. And while nobody was told they had to have a mic/headset, the majority decided to bring one anyway, which only helped matters.
How will this new training camp promote tolerance between elite pvp players and pick up groups? "Elite" players as you call them pug too. One of several problems that stand in relation to PVP currently is the skillgap between players that have PVPed for years and those who have not is large. I've only really PVPed properly for alittle over a year now, and i'm somewhere in the middle. The point of the camp is to improve the quality of the PVP playerbase as a whole.
Since this is being considered as a 'boot camp', will there be new guidelines established for all PvP players? What did you have in mind?
Is the PvP Boot Camp a temporary or permanent fixture to "Star Trek: Online"? The current curriculum lasts from Dec. 29th 2012 until sometime in March. While it is generally hoped that things will repeat themselves every 4 or so months with some potential classes made for advanced premade fighting etc.
Will the PvP Boot Camp be used to coverup Cryptic's inability to flesh out PvP battlegrounds and environments? PvP Boot Camp = Cryptic's inability to create a new PvP environment? Foundry Spotlight = Cryptic's inability to create a new set of featured episodes? Players doing the work in which Cryptic employees are responsible for? Lets be honest here, PvP in STO is a mess. Its been lied to and neglected for nearly three full years now by Cryptic higher-ups. That said, Cryptic didn't ask for PVP Bootcamp, it was dreamt up, organised and is being run by Sargon, a few PVP technical wizards and some PVP players to coach. None are being paid for their time. Instead of turning a blind eye to PVP as is the norm, Cryptic (in the form of Borticus & BranFlakes) have not only put rewards in place for those that complete Bootcamp, but are rewarding the coaches too. They've been present in meetings and continue to support.
If players are doing all the work, why are people paying Cryptic for their lack of services? There's no gun to anyones head ordering more PVP content. They're classic argument was the same one used for the Klingon Faction "Not enough play, we cant afford to gamble the time needed" at the first session over 250 people turned up on the day to pick up some PVP basics. Who knows what 2013 holds?

One reason I've never complained about STO's PvP is it would be wrong of me to expect something out of someone such as Cryptic to police a system like PvP when it is very apparent that no matter what measures they take most players will either be playing against someone who has made it their lifes goal to train 24/7 to beat some player who may have just started playing yesterday. As well as someone who knows every website ever created to get their latest exploit information from. Also the famous afk it out lets draw a tie here and get our points system
Not to put down any players or dev's on this but unless there is some consensus on how to make it where STO has none of those problems I don't think I can see anyone at all enjoying PvP here.
Edit: Only way I can think of to remedy some of these things I see as being problems is having some sort of non-biased moderators for pvp that don't really care about pvp but won't bias towards helping any individual person or fleet that may be exploiting the game but to help the community of it overall.
