It would be awesome to have some ground vehicles.
I'm talking here ARGO. Capable of fitting in a full 5 man team maybe, to carry around NR or any other ground map, maybe CGE cose of the vast area there.

Also an individual vehicle like the young Kirk had when going to San Francisco yards, or some floating ride.

Now, with all these, i can picture some events involving races, demolition tracks, last vehicle standing,

What everybody thinks of it ?

Ground zones aren't big enough for vehicles.

Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Don't you understand the difference between the JJ movies and the Prime timeline?

as it is right now probably the vehicles are not needed.
the idea is to add fun content for the yet imaginary vehicles.

""Now, with all these, i can picture some events involving races, demolition tracks, last vehicle standing ""

Purpose is to add fun content, to blow off some steam in regard to rather dull existing FA content. I wouldn't mind at all for devs to come up with a few race tracks, arena maps for 10-25 ppl to crash each others rides and so on. More like fun PvP where the purpose is to have fun rewarding ways of blowing others and yourself without the frustration the base players experience in normal PvP.

Just throwing ideas here... cose im @ my wits end with the daily grind. I need to have some fun from time to time.

Apparently in the JJ-verse helmets are optional.

Certain maps are. With that in mind, part of the STO's design is structured around having to run long distances (think "The Cure" ground or "Coliseum") as a timesink. I don't foresee a need for vehicles here.

-The Cure doesn't require ground mounts, running is more than adequate, just dont run off alone, get killed, then respawn, and your fine. <simple team tactics :p
Not to mention being able to ride through the mission would mess up the current 'optinal' on the mission, so another reason i think no to mounts

-Coliseum.. your plucked up from your ship/transporter beam and transported to the middle of nowhere on an unknown planet, having your argo or motorcylce magically appear would be a big (wtf :p) in the mission's plot, so no to that ^^

As ever my favorite answer to 'we need mount/vehicles' remains, tactical player/bridge officer + motion accelerator suffices or... just run :)

Heck now we even have Frosted Boots from the winter wonderland...

imagine all the borg/baddies you could run over with that thing....

thats why we will never have cars unless its a scripted event. ie- rail shooter

Frankly, I think the only sound advice that one can give new players at this time is to stay away from PVP in STO.

Do we want to be like TOR, and when we stand on the exchange surrounded by bikes, and cars inhaling fumes, and seeing a parking lot around ESD, and SF Academy.:eek:

The only map i wanted with a car was New Romulus, but a DEV made out of a Mexican dish said New Romulus was not car friendly.:D:D

It really says something to how lazy people are when they need a speeder bike to get around inside of a spacestation. For that reason I only use mine outdoors and out of cities.

I'd like to see the Argo added but first we need much bigger maps and the ability for 2 or 3 people to ride on the same one. Someone to drive and others to shoot.

jeezz.. what turn out this has...

Maps for vehicles and vehicles should come as one pack. As much as i would like to park my bike in Club47 that ain't gonna cut it for craptic.

-New Romulus looks like one map that can be used with ground vehicles.
-Cure ground sure thing ... Now stomping' Borg with ARGO... would be awesome (100% shield penetration). As an event based roll
-Digitized raging engine on Quinn's desk... o/ and :o

The ground map are simply not designed for it. And even if they started doing some for ground vehicle, I'm not sure their engine is designed for such map. They already said New Romulus was the biggest project they did so far. And you'll want something bigger for vehicles.
Cool ? Yes. Feasible ? No.

I could live with them as being similar to shuttles - only really used in specific missions and events.
Actually, an ARGO STF could be pretty cool.

But as a way to move around faster? Eugh.
