What are you looking forward to at tier 5 Rep?

mimey2mimey2 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Within the next week and a half or so, folks are gonna start hitting tier 5 rep. I'll be hitting it on the 28th, presuming I don't miss any more days.

What are you all looking forward to getting though? Personally...I can't wait for...

New STF costumes. The Adapted sets will be nice to change builds up, but honestly, it's still just the same thing we've already had, just from the other faction.. I could see some interesting builds with an Armitage as a torpedo boat, using the torpedo point defense console and the Adapted MACO (aka Honor Guard set). And of course, the controversial combo of MACO shields with Plasmonic Leech.

I'm mostly looking forward to the Romulan stuff since Omega force is mostly rehashed.

In particularly, the new Romulan space sets have piqued my interest considerably, not just the console/beam array/torpedo, but that actual Mk XII Romulan shield/deflector/engine. I dunno if it's just a copy/paste of the Reman set, or a totally new thing all on it's own, but I am eagerly awaiting it.

The tier 5 powers are gonna be interesting. Is it weird that I want the Omega Heal more?

It'll be interesting to see what happens with New Romulus, and what story may unfold at tier 5 as well.

But the coup de grace to me is of course...

The Romulan Plasma Flamethrower.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

To be honest, I am kind of cynical about the whole thing.

The best gear in the game (more or less) used to drop during STFs and any extras could be traded in for plenty of dilithium.

Rather than tweaking the few faults in the system, like making some catch-all that would award a very rare drop if you had completed a large number of missions without it and making the surplus tradable between characters on an account, they made STFs into one huge EC and dilithium sink.

Now to finish my sets on my main I not only have to grind the STFs, but I have to cough up a huge amount of EC and dilithium.

And thanks to the system, NPCs are increasing in power so all my alts who do not grind through these money sinks to get these fleet starships and Omega/Romulan skills will be overpowered by NPCs and other players.

I think I will complete everything on my main and that will be it. I like many aspects of this game but the monetization really turns me off, which is why I have not contributed a dime since F2P went live.

Yesterday I just started the long road from t4 to t5.
I had days where I had the resources but couldn't force myself to move the sliders because it's chinese water torture to me, every drop is like a mortar round in a bathtub.
But at least all my characters are the exact same level, so when it's over it's over.

For me it's entourage and flamethrower, so it's basically down to entourage now they removed the gun.
And it's funny like that because it shows me in the end I'd rather have something you can see that doesn't do anything, than something you can't see the does something.
So all the passives I pretty much don't care about seeing there is no animation - I haven't even selected my t4 passive stats on all characters yet.

The active abilities well, anything beyond 3 minutes is pushing it and will actually be an annoyance trying to fit the bar.
I'd much, much rather have a tiny buff I can use more often.

Adapted set I will have to see the visuals of first and like with everything else I will have to check the price first.

I did get the borg weapon set on one character so eventually I might get another set IF the visuals are new, albeit way down the line.

Right now I just finished earning zen for a new ship so my time from t4 to t5 is going to fit nicely with earning dilithium for entourage.
However once I get that there won't be much of anything to go for sadly.

Oh please, you don't need Mk 12 Space Sets, Mk 12 Purple Consoles and Mk 12 Weapons to play the game. They are nice to have and make things a bit easier. But they absolutely are not required to play the game. I've done STFs and even Elite STF with nothing by the blues and purples we got from mission rewards and maybe a D-Store Console or two.

if you have a good build and know how to play your character, you'll just fine in any content in the game.

For me it will be finally finishing the ground second set on my science officer, all but that one character had both sets already so that will be by main goal.

After that just the adapted sets to unlock as I really like new costumes, already been grinding up the dilithium for them though my younger STF toon needs to run a few mirrors for a burst of expertise.

Romulan rep never really bothered be except for the passives which we really don't need anyway, but the flamethrower is something I wouldn't mind... purely because it is a flamethrower, but I doubt in the long run it will replace my trusty disruptor boombstick.:D

Sidenote to that, they removed the romulan flamethrower - you should read my posts ;P

But good to hear I am the only one in the whole game that cares about entourage, I'd have no problem being the only oen with it

Stats and visuals on Romulan space set (shield/engine/deflector). It's kinda irritating that I'm having to save marks for a set I have no idea whether ill even want.

    &

    The Maco shield for KDF

    Sadly, that is it.

Never, ever, returning to Tau Dewa sector.

Unless of course if the gear is good enough to get and costs marks, but I still will likely just get them with queues.

Tau Dewa is so inconvenient for doffing DS9 for LIFE!

    ^^^ This.

Once it's done on my three characters I'm looking forward to never returning to Tau Dewa or New Romulus. I don't really have to see the Romulan system to the end since I've already gotten what I wanted out of it (Mk XII space weapons) but since I've been levelling it with the Omega rep and all of my characters have hit Tier 4 and are working on Tier 5, I may as well finish it off (besides, the Science power unlock looks interesting).

But really, all that's left for me to get is Adapted MACO/KHG ground gear (for the visuals only - I'll be using the Mk XII sets I already have) and perhaps Adapted KHG space for my Sci (who could benefit from the MACO shield). And... that's it.

What are you looking forward to at tier 5 Rep?

the end of the timegated grind, and the start of the next grind, whatever that may be.

some new shiny items maybe too?

i just want to be done with the rep grind to be done with it...
with 11 Chars this is no fun, but work.

playing it with only one of them would take just as long because of the stupid 20 hour timers (and be BORING)
you can't just grind your way through it and be done with it *love timegating*
and its too much work to do it efficiently with 11 chars and still have time for other stuff

so i do 5 - 8 chars a day, i ONLY do the XP stuff
and when i'm done i'm done.

honestly i'm just waiting for Cryptic to come up with the next revamp of their reward system, it's the 3rd time the STFs have been changed, i totally expect a 4th and 5th time, no reason to assume that any of this is final.

I was looking forward to the flamethrower....only to find out that the devs made promises they can't deliver. I was looking forward to OMEGA XII adaption armor only to read that MACO is the only set listed.

I'm starting to believe that there are only 2 programmers and 1 art guy running the show.

    8-9 days from T5 myself.

First I'll complete my XII maco ground set and then I'll slowly gather the sets. I'm a sucker for different sets.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

On the other hand, Romulan weapons suck for PVP. :/

you got that right. i now only play one character and i am reducing the number of ships i have to minimize costly upgrading of existing inventory. i don't mind some grind, but i don't want to be grinding all the time.

i will be adding the breen ship, but no other ships for quite some time. pretty much done with lockboxes. it would have to be a superb ship, like the jem'hadar attack ship, to get me to buy keys again.

I'm looking forward to not having to use the rep interface anymore - there really should be an autofill option that circumvents the annoying UI if you have the necessary EC for the commodities and consumables - the repetition is horrible, especially with multiple toons.

At some point the devs might finish the rep system rewards and fix the broken passives, until then the rep system is low priority for me.

I'm surprised that I managed keeping my 3 chars more or less the same levels in the reputation system. And doing the race for one char every day... or perhaps I'm just to often and too long online :-P

The sole purpose for me going through the all the tiers of the romulan/omega waste of time grind is to reach tier 5, and like you i hope that Romulan set is good for cruisers without dumb un related stats like the reman TRIBBLE had on it, and to trade in my old MACO 12 space set for the more than likely craptastic adapted MACO. 3/4 of the way through Tier 5, we will know soon enough :)

There is a Mk XII Borg Space Set. It hasn't been the first time that Cryptic forgot to put something in the UI and it won't be the last. There is the Advanced Fleet Shields and Deflectors at Tier 2 Science and the Elite Fleet Space Weapons at Tier 5 Engineering that are currently missing from the Fleet Tiers UI. Also, there is dev confirmation that it exists. Whether it is like the Romulan Flamethrower and it is not ready, only the devs know, but that should not be the case since it just needs updated stats to be in line with the other Mk XII space sets.
    • All Mk XII Assimilated Set Projects
      • Omega Mark cost reduced from 1000 to 900
      • Borg Neural Processor cost unchanged at 5
      • Dilithium cost reduced from 36000 to 32500

Since it is not listed in the rep system, but it is listed in the patch notes so I assume they merely overlooked it and it is Tier 5. It being Tier 5 is an educated guess, but it could be Tier 4 for all I know.

Correct - it is a Tier 5 Unlock.

Looks like it slipped off the description at some point. We'll get that fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.
