I guess nobody has noticed (or maybe they just aren't saying) that you can hit your dilithium cap on any character level 6-50 in under an hour using the PvP system. The mission "Hostile Engagements Against Enemy Leaders - Arenas" or the mission of the same name for Scenarios awards 1440 dilithium and has no cooldown. More importantly, private matches count. So, grab the mission, challenge a friend to a 5-kill round of Solar Wind, and check out the easy earnings. Now, I know it's popping into your head right now that Solar Wind allows you to spawn camp the opposing team if they don't move away from spawn, and that the person you challenge could be in a shuttle with no shields and really speed up the process. That would be abuse of the system though. I know nobody wants to see that happen.
Why am I sharing this with everyone? Well, even easy as that is, I don't bother doing it most days. Don't hit your goals in this game until there is something new waiting beyond it. Otherwise you'll be spending your time focusing on what the devs don't do instead of having fun.
If it were not for the friends I have made in-game I wouldn't be here to find stuff like this, so thank them not me. Happy holidays.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.
Nothing anyone says or does will entice me into PvP.
haha, fair enough. I find it a tragic bore as well. Especially the cap&hold. It's more a test of who gets bored and gives up the fastest than an enjoyable scenario.

I don't want any of the items bought with dil or zen. Go run the hamster wheel if it matters to you, just whatever you do don't complain that dil is hard to get (until this gets nerfed). Thank you for popping by to be a jerk about it though.
Playing KDF side and recently joining a large KDF fleet - this is all they do to power through the Fleet dilthium sink.
Dilthium is running like the water from a broken water main on the KDF side - that's why you almost never have any KDF players complaining about the lack of Dilthium.
Only thing that sucks on the KDF is the Fleet action wait times
I sense another change coming with today's later update. If not, it'll be a fix for next week. Just wait.
Yeah probably. Until then enjoy if you're into grinding dilithium. Just sharing good info because some people seemed to be wholly convinced dilithium is somehow difficult to acquire. I certainly got my use out of this info. So... cheers

Personally, I think rewards should be there to make you feel like you aren't wasting your time. Maybe I'm weird, but... I'm playing this game to have fun. Fun. Remember fun?
I sometimes dabble in PvP, I love the Foundry (more in idea than execution, but with the death of CoH STO is just about the only game in town for that), and so on.
I want to go have fun. And get enough rewards so I can reasonably move toward various goals (reputation, fleet marks, etc.).
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Now that you've brought it up on the forums, this will get nerfed in a patch. A lot of the time, people don't post on the forums about the 'easy' ways to get Dil, because as soon as we do they stealth patch it out.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!

The Kdf players I know and play with are making infinite amounts of dilthium - alting has not stopped either.
The only thing that slows down the flow of dilthium is people's hands getting tired or just bored of making so much dilthium.
now that they have added FM back to a couple things - KDF bases should start to leave Fed bases in the dust.
I have done fleet battles where we had 5 on 5 ship engagements. those are kinda fun. Especially when it's a mix of Fed and KDF ships. To make things faster we had a rule about not using shields.
Ground PVP is pretty fast and brutal when you decide to find out who's better in melee combat.
I don't recall anyone here calling this a bug or an exploit, just something most players don't notice. Your statement is silly.
The guy above me called for a nerf, as if it is unfair to pvp for dilithium.
Lets not drive out people who pvp, or any of the supported gamestyles, via nerfing rewards for game play.
We already have a 8000 daily cap on dilithium, why should any member of this community want to be a conduct cop and dictate to others how they reach their cap. It's bad enough Cryptic boxes people into certain content for advancement, we don't need the community trying to dictate behavior to other players too.
PvP needs more maps, more content. Not less incentives via nerfed rewards. Since day 1 PvP has been fully supported with end game reward potential. Today that is done via dilithium. I hope Cryptic continues to support that policy.

I think we can all agree that it does need more development attention. As it stands even this being easy as it is is not really an incentive for some with the provided reward. Of course, if I enjoyed it then the reward wouldn't really matter.

Keep in mind, even if this was somehow exploitable, it requires a group of people to do it quickly enough. 3 queues of at least 2 people flying to blow 1 guy up quickly. Takes what, 10 minutes or more to earn 1440? Would have to be done in 15 matches to reach over 8000 dilithium? Best case is at least 6 or more people doing this 15 times for 8000 each?
What's the deal? For the minimum of 2 people it would require about an hour, and if you had a bunch of people you might shave 15 minutes. Bottom line, it looks like a boring way teamwork helps save time, but still requires a lot of time to do to earn dilithium.
Not sure I see what makes this such a big deal. Teamwork saves time in New Romulus too, is teamwork an exploit? In the end, it's still not some instant get rich scheme and would almost surely consume a lot of time from multiple players to get it done on any scale of consequence, and OMG the worst case scenario includes a bunch of folks teaming up together in an MMO to find success.
The shame. I actually think Cryptic should support teamwork like that as a policy.
It's not a big deal at all, though some seem furious over my pointing it out. It is exactly as you say: teamwork = success here. But taking a little less than an hour to grind 8k dil (it stacks with the pvp daily when they coincide btw, so a little faster those days) is nowhere near the onerous and time-consuming task that some make it out to be. And this of course requires no contraband, or running around for various dailies so it does have some efficiency to it. I have seen a least 1 comment on this thread from someone that did not know, so it is helpful to them. If it's not helpful to some, oh well.

My math is wrong. 15 matches, 75 deaths for someone...
It's going to take 2 people a couple hours to do this.
More people would make it faster, but no different than how a team of 5 can race through New Romulus.
Good trick. Sounds like a grind hell for nothing but 8K dilithium. With the new Foundry changes, there are better ways to get the same dilithium + a bunch of marks. And without the PvP dailys this has to be the least efficient way for a Fed Captain to farm currencies.

Fight 3 pvp missions, get Dilithium for it. If that's a bug or exploit, why has Cryptic been advertising it?

Lol, probably the same reason they added Fleet Marks to the clicky missions when interest in starbases was lagging.

Well yes, if you do it with the queue it'd be a waste of time as opposed to doing pretty much anything else for dilithium.
