Winter Wonderland Lake

Dear Cryptic,
Please put Q's lake on Andoria after the winter holiday is over. The ice skates are so much fun, it would be a shame to not be able to use them after Q has moved on.

    However, the lake will be back next year.

    Also, you can use the Boots outside of the WWL.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    How about fixing the pvp on Andoria, or just putting any reason to go there?

    They could add a melee-only fighting circle where there's reduced traction. Maybe introduce some new abilities only in that area where you're leashed to your opponent and have strikes and a knockdown/pull or something cool.

    I suspect this mechanic is one Cryptic wants to keep special and unique to WWL and wearers of the boots. A shame, Andoria needs something.

    A mechanic like that would be so cool, and doesn't seem like it would be dificult to implement. But yes, Andoria needs *something*.

    Make it a holodeck program.

    I have (IMO) a better idea: make the lake into a fleet special project.

    Fleet members will be able to put in resources like any other special project (dil, crew members, commodities, etc), and when the special project is complete, the interior of the star-base will be upgraded with a frozen lake (that of course looks different than Q's lake, but still gives a great deal of fun to players who worked hard to create the project, not to mention "veterans" who have been to Q's wonder-land in the past and have attained the frost boots).

    This will also finally give players what they have been asking for since the launch of fleet star-bases: special projects with function. Most of the recent special projects have been purely cosmetic. This frozen lake will have the extra function of being fun, since you will be able to run around, trip, fall, slip, skate (with boots), all over it. Plus I usually do not see many fleet parties or hang outs going on within the star base itself; however, the frozen lake will give reason to do this, and to truly have fun and socialize with your fleet (instead of just farming for resources with them).

    Also as this is just a suggestion: it doesn't have to be exactly Q's lake. There could be differences so that there would still be reason to go to Q's lake, while at the same time, keeping players (who want to re-experience Q's lake after the winter event) happy and content. You could still have the same effects for both frozen lakes, but perhaps next year, Q's lake will have an extra effect/ addition (such as idk: a ramp to get some insane air with skates), while the fleet frozen lake will have effects of the previous year. I'm just shooting our ideas....

    But anyway, I think this would be a good compromise for people who want to experience the lake after the event, yet not put it on some random planet.

    And next year please DON'T use Q at all
    EVER at all under any circumstances
    he is Lame

    I would support a frozen lake for Andorian or even Breen planets

    I think Q's lake just needs a Hockey rink... Starfleet captains playing a little pickup shinney, Vulcans standing on the sidelines "Fascinating! The objective of the game seems to be knocking the opposing players on their posteriors, while chasing a circular rubber device..."

    Actually, put a hockey rink on andoria, and I'd never leave! :)

    We got tribble soccer, don't see it being too hard to implement hockey of somekind. :P

    And with Andoria supposed to be a PvP zone, I could see some classic hockey fights happening. Just have the winner be the one who knocks down the other first. ;)




    Now when it comes to the OP, I would like to see a WW Ice Skating lake added to Andoria and even Rura Penthe.

    100% with you on this one... I'm suffering from severe hockey withdrawal right now, and though that wouldn't fix the overlying hockey problem, it'd still be pretty damn cool.

    Why is the most fun content, the most fun progression, the most fun 'grind' and the most fun location with the most fun rewards a 1 month winter event anyway? Why can't they but stuff like that in regular zones, as regular progression, as regular content with regular rewards? Get the guy who designed WWL and give him some regular planets to design.

    Having just got my ice boots and found them to be insane fun, I agree. Even if it's not got the fallen tree in so the jump is only for the WWL, and it's a different smaller ice rink, it would be awesome to have an ice lake for proper skating on at least one of the ice planets.

    Having this content on Andoria would be pretty fantastic. The skating is amazing, now if only there was a way to control your jumps, we could have skating contests!

    Oh and it needs to be a less round lake. a few rivers and side waterways would make it so much more fun! And a Waterfall! Although the Baatara Gorge is amazingly beautiful, that's not the sort of waterfall that you could skate on. A frozen version of Dark Hollow Falls would be really cool though.

    I would very much like to see somewhere we can use the ice skating rink. :) I have such a good time with it and it's always fun to go waste a little time waiting for DOFF's to complete or whatever.

    We have these wonderful frozen boots and animations to go along with it, but only 1 month out of the year to go skating. Maybe just add a frozen lake to Andoria (an already forsaken and forgotten frozen waste land) so we can enjoy them. Heck, if you wanna get really creative, add a PvP area where we could shot our snow guns at each other :P

    Wonderful idea. Not so sure about snowball fights on Rura Penthe, but Andoria should definitely be our perpetual winter wonderland, minus the goodies and animated snowmen.

    Throw in some nasty snow beasties to underscore the difference, and we're golden.

    That's actually a nice idea for the Frosted Boots. Might actually bring some activity back to Andoria.

    Now if only something can be done about Risa. Right now, it's like visiting the island from Lost, except it's populated with NPCs.:P

    If you put a frozen lake on Andoria, then Andoria is special and we finally have a reason to go there. Same for Rura Penthe.

    Another way to look at it is that our Andorian "social zone" is a winter wasteland. We'd like it to be at least a little bit special.

    I don't think a frozen lake or other icy surfaces to slip and slide on is too much to ask for.

    No, we don't need snowballs. And no, we definitely shouldn't have all of the magical Q stuff. Races would be fun, but we don't necessarily need those on Andoria either.

    A good question to ask might be, "What would an Andorian do for fun?"

    Sliding down those mountains on the Andorian equivalent of skis and sleds might be one answer.
