Wow, I thought the reward was given to the whole team.
The game sets 4 teams of 5 players and in the end, the team with the most Kills would get the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place ranking.
Meaning the team that ranked in 1st place, all 5 players on that team would get the purple gear for winning and so on.
If that?s not the case then it should be.
That would promote team play
If your team was grouped with 3 escorts and 2 cruisers it would be in the best interest for the cruisers to heal their escorts to help get the top rank in the game.
Are you guys sure that?s not the case, because I fly a LRSV and have gotten 2nd place many times in a field of escorts and I know for sure that I have not out killed the other escorts in the game.
Agreed. Potential for most lucrative rewards is only for tactical escorts using Scatter Volley/Torpedo Spread. No point healing them, because it gets me nothing. I get the same reward whether I try my hardest or afk at the back of the room. Harder I try, th faster the tac Escort gets his 1st place reward. Fleet actions are dilithium farms. Unless I am on my tac, then I get my purple. most of the time.
Solution: remove item reward system entirely, or come up with a way to incorporate healing numbers into the equation. -Better Yet- Assign a loot table similar to the old STF's random reward, but also incorporate a cut off to get onto that loot table so that if someone does Zero dps (afk) they get Nothing.
- Addendum. I used to sit at the edge of the old Gorn Minefield run and blast the frigate spawns while the rest of the team completes objectives in Battleship/Warship/Boss spawns, contributing NOTHING to the run. Did I get 1st everytime? Of course I did.
This blows my mind. If you dont like the game dont play it.
And whocares about ultra rare drops. This game doesnt need em. 0 content in this game requires endgame gear. The only think not vendor trashed in this game are a handful of consoles and purple weapons.
Everyone crying whats in it for me is tiresome. Play the game to play the game.
The issue is that when someone joins a fleet action in anything less then a tactical officer in an escort there is a feeling that they are playing so that the Tac can have a shot at a valuable item that might go for millions on the eschange. Its fun to play the game, but working for some stranger's benefit because he rolled a the tac instead of you sours the taste of the experience.

Anyone can fly an escort(even though a FaW cruiser can do just as well), and the reward system is tiered. There is more than one "1st place", even on the 5 man ones.
Don't bring a sci ship into a Fleet Action. No healing is needed there anyway, they are specifically designed to be competitive shoot em ups. Or if you do, take advantage of thing like Gravity Well and Tricobalt mines.
Firstly "purples" who cares
I am a "pass " player I do not collect random space debris
Then "Dps" forget it
My Best Cruiser (its a Galaxy R) can out DPE many Escorts but who cares
that not my function
Nor is "heal boat"
Teams exist to complete the objective
if you have flash gordon in your team
Don't team with him again
Same goes for Janeways or Kirks
(note for those unfamiliar with these slang terms a Janeway gives others suicidal orders so that he/she can survive a Kirk is stupidly brave and won't back away from a fight even if it gets the team killed and a Flash Gordon flys in with a High DPS escort in a blaze of guns , agros the entire enemy then explodes in a flash of light and respawns (repeating as often as possible))
Are there any debuffs you can place on your allies? How do you sabotage a tacscort?
Heal him. My Tac/ Escort will usually be at low health if I have my buffs waiting as I want the biggest damage buff possible from GDF and someone throwing an ET3 at me just as I hit GDF annoys the hell out of me.
Oh how I laughed in SB24 as someone threw ET3 and HE2 at me just as I hit GDF, massively reducing the damage buff. I couldn't help but laugh even harder when the Isometric Charge bounced off me (courtesy of said heals) and one shot the healer that just ruined my attack run.

Given the many times that these perfectly valid points have been brought to cryptics attention, and their action just re-enfocred the crappy design of FA rewards, tells me that they want it to be this way.
Escorts online....i mean they actively changed something about FA's and made it even worse...... no way of getting through
My objection to the current system is... none, I fly as a tac in an escort. Lots of purple consoles that bring me 2-3 million ec each. Don't change a thing!
Hehe, but seriously, it is not good to give 1 class such a strong advantage, and yes, it does undermine the team play experience to base the scoring entirely on damage dealt.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.
There are a few items that are valuable just because of the horrendous cost of their mk xii version. If a mk xii purple phaser relay didn't cost 30-40 million ec or an ungodly grind to get, I doubt I could get 3 million and more for the mk xi.
The fact that the FAs do not drop mk xii gear limits their appeal for me somewhat, but if you have alts that you want to stock up with mk xi gear, fleet actions are a good way to do that. You can get almost everything you could want for your ship as loot, save apparently a mk xi purple field generator.

Simply, because it does not promote teamplay. Why should I heal the escort over there with my cruiser? So he grabs the purples ? Why should I slot extended and protect my allies when I'm directly competing against them for reward and sloting offensive ability would be much more better for me? Isn't it better to let them die, so I can get the objectives myself ?
Why ? Because the system is fail. It promotes dps racing and not teamplay, which in turn reflects how people play in STF.
Killing a target objective should have same value as keeping alive that escort that killed it.

True in Season 6, but............. i thought the purples in Season 7 are actually decent or am I wrong?

Play a Tac/escort - Problem solved
Taking anything else in a FA is akin to a screen door on a submarine.
