How to counter a Defiant w/ DEM3+CRF3?

edited November 2012 in PvP Gameplay
Hey guys, came across a guy in a Defiant running DEM3 and CRF3 in the arena last night. I was in my sci/sci timeship so my hull was not very strong to begin with and every time he attacked my hull instantly dropped below 50% while my shields were still above 75% with no facings down. If I stayed and try to fight I would not last more than a few seconds even with 2 hull heals so I had to keep running away. I hate having to run, but there was no other option if I wanted to survive, especially considering this was a partial premade of the same fleet and even the cruisers were running single cannons with DEM3 and CRF3. Any suggestions?

Call him an unsportsmanlike exploiter and warp out. It's what I'd do; not going to waste my time playing against people abusing the Voldemort glitch like that.

But it's not an exploit, and he could report me for calling him names.

Well if your in a SCI/SCI just bug him until he leaves you alone... 32 sec SSs,/Vm1... VM3/Vm1 plus the VM doffs, nuk him everytime Dem 3 is up..

So what... you are all late to the party... this is like 3 weeks old and it was publicly acknowledged. If you kept up on the game, you would know about it. Also, it will be fixed so we all just have to deal with it till the fix comes out. You can be upset or you could go load up on a bunch of sci and tac buffs and get him back. They already said it's open season... Some people.. ahem... throw Gravity wells with CSVIII like candy in pve.....

This build I made for my Tac/Orb could eaisly work with a Sci/Orb..

And I'm sure it'll annoy the heck out of Escorts like that. :D

I suppose that since /logout still works in combat you could always run with that. One good turn deserves another.

Well, both are dependent on weapon power, so you could start there, but Imma just put this out there, don't laugh...Aceton Beam. Yeah I said it. I'm not sure yet but I might become an advocate for AB. I've been using all kinds of TRIBBLE I normally wouldn't with all these handy extra boff slots and I've noticed that it might be less terrible than reported in certain circumstances.

Of course, I can't test it with a helpful partner in a private match right now, gg Cryptic.

I could have had an exploit build on my Peg'Hu destroyer but it seems if you discharge your shuttles it removes this bug becuase I am no longer troubled with extra powers.

Still had I not stumbled on the fix, I would have been using a DDIS 2xATB1 build with an extra TSS3, HE2 , GW3 and HE1 I believe.

I would be cycling TSS2, TSS3, HE2, and HE1 at the same time and using EWP1 and GW3.
Thats too nasty on such a build and is highly unfair.

Still free riegn has been given , so if I could I would definately enjoy it.

    Simple.

Let the big fleets know who he is so he can get the living **** kicked out of him.

The only way to keep STO PvP exploit free is to punish those who abuse the hell out of that TRIBBLE. Make a list and punish the offenders. We all know how to make annoying as hell builds that even voldie can't deal with.

I love this picture (I'm Weyoun 6) because it proves that if even a terrible hack amateur like me who spends most of his time drinking green tea and translating doujin can overcome players using exploits, genuinely skilled pilots will still completely stomp due to their sheer ingenuity and years of experience.

For reference, most of their team were running things like a Viral Matrix Defiant and stuff, and in the end it didn't help them do squat.

The [PewPew Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XVI [ACC]x6 [BUG]x3] should do the trick.

Really though, I think this might actually be fixed on Tribble. I've heard a few reports from others, but can anyone here confirm?

Despite us making your job tough bran, I just want you to know that I enjoyed the nights we shared pew'ing with the pandas. You're are pretty good pew'er. I'm sure you feel the same pains we do, but your hands are tied to do or say much about it. Biting the hand that feeds you and all...

I just logged into my tribble character and was forced to reassign all of my Bridge officers due to their powers missing from their tray. After that was done I checked the powers available and the "Voldemort" bug is gone.
The other bugs related to small craft, such as the character selection screen showing the shuttle and renaming the shuttle changes the decal on your ship are still there however.

I really enjoy those too, and I appreciate the compliment. You all were great mentors. When the queues come back up, I'll be back in for some pew pew.

Ah, okay. I was just able to get in-game on Tribble to check that too (was posting from my phone) -- looks like that's the case. I believe the other bugs related to small crafts should have a fix in soon.

I know right we are all supposed to have dev ESP...

Cause if I find odd synergies I have 2 options run the hell out of it... or bug report it if I feel its not right...

"I know the line is fuzzy... " Snipped oh does he now. lmao

I guess we are all supposed to make a guess cause if the devs Coded it in by accident I guess its OK... if they just had no idea it could work like that it would be an exploit...

Meaning 90% of the legit stuff we like to do in game is likely an exploit...

But the Voldy TRIBBLE... is fuzzy... and "...wouldn't technically be an exploit."

I swear they are the worst bunch of devs ever to design a half decent game. :)

How many MMOs have they played in general as a group is my question... in what world would any dev not consider this exploiting ? I am not sure what English to Dev rosetta stone these guys need... man its just comical already. lol

Yeah these exploiters are becoming rather prevalent at the moment.

To be honest I don't see the point in it. I play PvP for the challenge, brain work and test of skill... What's the point in cheating?

What's hilarious is when in 1v1 you still manage to blow up the exploiters.
