    Oooh, more free stuff? ;)

C'mon guys, chill. You don't have to be Nostradamus to realise KDF are getting a major update early next year, it's been said in almost every bloody article released for S7. I promise I won't be crying at Klingon's getting some new KDF only TRIBBLE then, so why can't you just be happy for the Fed playerbase?

Are you really that petulant? You scream about 3 yr olds being more sensible and then go on to base your argument on kindergarten tantrums.

And if you weren't another typically dense Feddie, you'd realize that the KDF community has good reasons to be pessimistic about Cryptic 'promises' regarding the KDF.

Yeah, they've 'hinted' at future content. They've 'mentioned' that there will be more KDF content. Then, suddenly, 6-8 months down the road. . .they'll pull out the same BS arguments against developing the KDF, and ultimately not add anything substantial to equalize the content levels. . .all the while 'promising' more KDF content around Season 10 or 11.

We're gonna complain however much we feel like complaining. Get used to it. You lot get what you want when you stomp your feet loudly enough for it, so why should you care about the 'other side' not getting enough?

This is a bunch of bull****. The feds already have a billion escorts in spades and you give them another one with an additional OP console on top of it.... plus the Vesta... a science ship thats perfectly suited to fill a massive gap that exists in current Klingon ships? Seriously?

You must be new here. You're blowing so much smoke up your TRIBBLE I see smoke-rings coming out your ears.

Can equip the Resonance Cascade Modulator
    Can Load Cannons

Please, next time take the time to read the text.
It says that it CAN EQUIP the console not that it has one.
If you want a console you need to buy the Vesta. They dont give you one for buying the steamrunner.

    Try again.

It's included in the pack, just on the starter ship:

    Can Load Cannons

Well, considering this is a PVE-based game centered on the Federation, with the Klingons as an advanced play option, I think this isn't surprising. The focus of the Devs will always be on the Federation, because that's where players start and not a few stay. With PVP seen as an optional add-on to the game, and likely being relegated to 'simulator fights' once the Federation and Empire decide to bury the hatchet in S8, it's not likely we'll see much if any work done to equalize things in that part of the game.

I know it's not what Klingon players want to hear, but it's what it is. Maybe it will change in the future, but not at present.

Of course, the flip side is that those who do remain and fight for the Empire will have any victories attributable to skill alone, unlike the Federation captains who are flying the latest ubership handed to them. So, if PVP is your thing, it is the KDF where the challenge (and hense the goal of PVP) will be.

It will never change as long as they keep neglecting Klingons. Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep playing Klingon when you are the very definition of the red headed stepchild? Every time they release another Fed exclusive ship/outfit/etc, there are a handful of Klingons players that simply throw up their hands in frustration and either quit or move to a fed main. You can never grow a faction when you just continually throw dirt on its grave.

Yes... you read wrong... They did not give anyone anything...

    They are both overpriced.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I was pointing-out the idea that there are plenty of "ship-classes" to choice from and plenty of inspirations to draw from. No-where did I say these are THE ships.

The idea that the well of KDF ships dries up at the Negh'Var, BOP, K'T'inga, Vor'Cha & Voquv is as shortsighted as saying the Enterprise 1701 was the only Federation cruiser ever designed.

I am sure that the 3-d artists at Cryptic, could take any one of these designs and turn it on its head if they chose to.

And on a another subject altogether - there are a lot of Klingon fans that do like the FASA ships as concepts.

I would much rather prefer an original take on Klingon ship design, than some fannon-Kitbashed Romulan design.

May I suggest you brush up on the topic of "Licensing of Intellectual Property"?

Actually I might suggest you would brush-up on the literary meaning of "Example", together with the idea that every ship you see in STO comes from someone's Intellectual Property, that is not directly employed by STO.

Here's one that should spark a moment of Deja vu

The Blockade Runner Escort: Steamrunner class comes equipped with a Resonance Cascade Modulator console mod.
    low level ship

As someone who has not gotten around to making my KDF character (though the temptation gets stronger every week since I started playing in January), and as someone who had bought this pack, I feel pretty happy with it.

    With that said,
I do feel that people who prefer to play KDF do get a bit shafted, especially when you consider the available choices being outdone by something that feels like 2:3 or at best 3:4, there are more things in there to add that could make KDF play a bit more worth it. I hope Cryptic gets around to it (and CBS oks it) before they even consider putting in code for more playable factions. The starter pack should have probably included a KDF equivalents too (though for the F2P people, KDF character ceration doesn't open up until a fed character had been leveled up to level 21 from what I remember, not sure about people with subs.)

Knowing how much Steam likes to have special packs you can get through them for various games (and sometimes exclusively, like in this case here), who knows? Maybe there will be more of these packs, including quite a few really good ones for the KDF.

    One can hope, right?

Anyways, I hope no one minded my two cents here.

This isn't as bad as you might think for KDF. you can't use the ship as KDF, but from what I've heard the console is ACCOUNT bound and not character bound, so you can transfer it to a KDf dude.

Who knows, maybe Steam is working on a KDF Starter Pack. I've been waiting for the Steamrunner and have loved it ever since I saw it. [Though she's not my preferred lady of the stars, if you pardon my engineering]. I always hope that Cryptic makes more KDF Science geared ships, because of my little Orion whose been at her same level since a little before the 1st Anniversary. [Think about that].

I don't play STO very often now days because of one reason or another, but when I do play STO. I like to think that maybe some dev is working in a little lonely corner for the KDF all by his or her lonesome.

Otherwise, I like the Steamrunner, and for ten dollars it's not a bad deal or it wasn't anyway. I am in the boat with the KDF players in that I really want more for the KDF. All I can say as a Federation player is, I'm sorry that they keep pushing out gear for Feds Only. I want KDF stuff too, I got this game so I could play in both Factions.

This game has come a LONG way since beta, it really has. I hope to see further improvements for the Klingons although I've been waiting three years and all I got was a redecorated First City, and the Gorns actually looked more scary and less like Barney.

So, while I know I will enjoy my Steamrunner there's the writer inside of me who dies a little because she knows that Giselle's story won't continue until she has her own unique PvE Storyline.

Yes, the FED get the Vesta and ANOTHER Escort, but the KDF don't get a Dilithium nerf and still get Dilithuim for just passing gas.

And you cant make one to get that DL?

I dont get the comparison. The feds gained ships but the KDF didnt lose DL grinding?

What does that have to do with some fans wanting a new KDF ships?

I say wait and let the feds have thier fun. As others have already said the asking for these two vessels for long time. Its no surprise the Devs made them for sale.
Im more interested to see the Devs fulfill there word on building the KDF in season 8. That would be an excellent time for some new KDF faction ships.

On the mention of a Steam KDF pack. Good idea, though save it for when we have aactual lvl 1 start.
In fact if the quote below is ondication of the future a "Fresh Start" aproach to it is an awesome idea i think.

If the console was a part of the ship I could
    See a ship like this

I think we have escorts as good and better than
    This ship.

Looks like your buying a console not a ship to me

I ran pugs this afternoon was teamed with 10 or
So cruisers total that didn't have any Dps to speak of and
Had no idea how to run a cruiser. That's where the Fed
Money is at cryptic make a few kirk cruisers they will
    Sell.
I really think a mirror ship of differnt colors and differnt
Modules would sell good too both factions

This ship seems like a waste to me
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

I disagree on the waste opinon. Both the Vesti and the T5 steamrunner seem to hold spme value among some who PvP as being good platforms for some fotm and specific ahility concept designs.

One mans waste is another mans vital component.

This. Seems kinda insulting that the Steamrunner can't even be bought on the Store, much less is there a Klingon equivalent.

If it was on the Zstore it'd be $20. I'm fine buying it for $10 from some other website. :)
Well, the Federation do try help through love and friendship, so yes, Federation = Carebears. (I want to be the blue one. He had a rainbow on his chest, didn't he?)

As we called the Federation while playing Birth of the Federation... Club Fed.
    Everyone wanted to join.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

I think we've got bigger problems right now, like the broken damage tables in elite STF, borg doing TRIBBLE damage, STF is broken, The Steamrunner is the least of my worries at the moment.

Steamrunner. Also it's two ships. Well OK, if you're reading this thread, it's just the one ship/console, the Mk 2 gear and green BOffs won't interest you.

$USD 10 is the sale price too (60% off, $25 is the 'normal' price). If Zen is selling at 100/$USD 1, then it's a 2500 Zen ship being sold for 1000 Zen. Like C-Store ships, it's an account unlock.

On the other paw, you'll have to buy it directly. No way of using the Zen you already have to get it. For now.

I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't put up a FAQ or similar on IF a non-Steam player can buy/get the ship and/or how does a non-Steam player become a Steam-player. So they can turn a frustrated steamed player into a paying, Steam player.

In the meantime, KDF-centric players will understand that as it's a 'Starter Pack' and you can't start the game as KDF... it makes perfect cents that it's a FED exclusive. In the meantime, brace yourself for the horde of new Steam players who are totally not playing that other game with the shiny-glowing swords and player abilities that kinetically move mobs around.

Not exactly fair. The more the merrier. Anything to stop them from playing with their shiny-glowing 'swords'.

Now they can play with ours. :)
