I dont see what the big fuss is about

jackdonnerjackdonner Member Posts: 13 Arc User
All i see is posts how people are upset that dilithium has been removed from stfs, and officer report dailies. I was apprehensive myself about these changes, but frankly after playing for a few hours im not anymore. If you want dilithium, go play starbase 24, or gorn minefield. It rewards 1440 each time, and only has a cooldown of 30 minutes instead of the 1 hour stfs had. not to mention, stfs only paid what 1100 in elite?

I think what they have done is arranged the game for players to choose what they are going after, then play the stuff that gives it. I am enjoying the new sector, and missions to go along with it. Ive enjoyed kickin some tholian butt, and ive enjoyed playing starbase 24 and gorn minefield in my Oddy. Its funny, because all the new players are loving all the high tier ships coming in and making short work of the klingons. I know when i leveled a new toon, i never saw any big ships in starbase 24. I think its great!
And i think the game is moving in the right direction.

I agree, more options to chase the resources you are looking for. And I personally think that dilithium is easier for newer people to earn now too. The only thing I have a problem with is the lack of communication (possibly purposeful misleading) about STF dilithium rewards.

It will all be forgotten about in a few months when the next 'big thing' annoys people. Remember the big stink when they added Dilithium and Unreplicateable Materials to crafting?

Thats a great point! All those new players / new toons will now be getting dilithium from the get go. Starbase 24 opens at lvl 5 i think? They could easily save up for great gear for end game, or even buy it as they go along. I remember when i lvled i didnt use dilithium for anything untill lvl 50. Mainly because i couldnt really aquire any easily.

You have to be kidding - please say you are? They have removed dilthium and loot from missions that took teamwork and skill to a mission that is a winner take all hit the DPS spacebar - mission for dummies??

And that is some how a good thing going forward?

I suspect for most, myself included, this is just a large enough tipping point for a much larger dissatisfaction that has been growing over the past couple months.

Long story short: People want to be able to play the game their way instead of being confined to an arbitrary playstyle - I suspect it's the reason I lot of people originally fell in love with the game in the first place. "You want to play? Awesome, kick back, relax, and have fun!"

Unfortunately, Dilithium has seeped into nearly every aspect of the game as a requirement for advancement. However, the means of acquiring that dilithium exist in very select mediums that people don't "want" to do.

Want to play around with doffs and manage your crew? Whelp, go grind some dilithium from these tedious tasks that are in no way related or of interest to you. Want to take the fight to the borg and really earn some neat toys for your troubles? The Dilithium required to purchase anything isn't going to go farm itself, son! So on; so forth.

Still, kudos for keeping a positive outlook. Odds are if things continue the way they have been, you're likely to be what's left of the future of this community.

No, i am not kidding. If you want to play missions that take teamwork and skill, good news, you still can! All they have done is adjust what missions drop certain things.

If you want teamwork and skill do the stfs.
If you want dilithium do starbase 24.

I would think all these console clickie whiners would be happy, you get 1440 dilithium every run, every 30 minutes. That pays better than any stf did, and its ALOT easier. I cant recall how many times pugs fail elite stfs and you get nothing...This cant be failed..
    Where is your logic??

You do realize STF's were already underrewarding as they were before, right?

Now they are even less worth playing, for someone like me who doesn't want to be forced to play stupid FA's, that's a bad thing.

And crafting hasnt recovered since. That bone headed move ruined the crafting after they had finally fixed it from the shambles it was at launch.

Apparently you dont realize that as a group that actually knows how to do STF's, you can do more than one of each per hour? STF's are now worthless, and nothing they added even comes close to making the Dilithium loss up/

Add the fact that EVERYTHING at the so called end game now takes Dilithium, its gonna take months for the simplest of equipment sets.

Not all of us are satisfied with easier. Some of us actually enjoy some form of challenge.

enjoy it while it lasts. when all the bugs get fixed, people will be farming these maps non stop. if not for the drops then for the dil. it's going to suck the fun out of these maps real quick. i'd be pretty pissed off if i started a sb47 mission and 10 minutes in, someone joins and annihilates all the high value targets and scores 1st place for 5 minutes worth of work. hopefully you're in it for the dilithium. if not, enjoy it while you can.

I have some bad news for you - really BAD NEWS

no fail FA with 1440 dilthium - just wait a few days till AFK players start spamming them like mad - sure you might get the top prize but watch how long they soon will take to complete.

And people thought AFKing was bad in STF - you haven't seen anything yet!! That grind is going to get messy real soon.

I can see the bots on the horizan!!

You seem to be seeing teamwork and skill as rewards. They're hurdles. And they're now mostly unnecessary hurdles.

There is no need to play a SINGLE STF to get Omega Marks.

The whole point of STFs is to provide you with hurdles and then reward you more for putting up with those hurdles.

What this does is render STFs largely pointless aside from however many you need to get your Elite gear. Which is only REALLY especially useful in STFs outside of the costume unlock.

STFs just went the way of PvP, basically.

Actually, you don't get dilithium from FAs without participation. I got paired with an almost done one and got a green item and no dilithium.

Do you really think that 1440 dil reward for fleet actions are going to stick for very long? It's 1440 dilithium..... every 30 minutes. It's not quite the 2200 in 30 minutes you could get out of STFs btw which means you're wrong, but it's still 1440 dil... every 30 minutes. How long before Cryptic decides to nerf that? It's clearly an attempt to sway STF anger and will only be for a short period. I expect it to level out at 480.

Really, you shouldn't be justifying it, be all like well there's the fleet actions for 1440 dil! For one thing, I think it's minimum 960 dil, not 1440 always but I might be wrong on that. Secondly, you should be asking why did they remove dil from STFs period. There's no good reason for it in the name of game balance. I'll tell you why: because they don't want diehard STfers to earn all their dil through something they enjoy. If you make them go do other methods it's more likely they'll cave in and buy zen for dilithium. That's it, really. And THAT is what people are angry about on top of being lied to, and not so much the dilithium. There's fricking a dozen things to do to earn dil it's not a rarity. So, when we STFers go and spam our fleet actions for a few months to farm dilithium you can bet the farm a nerf will be incoming to that, too. Fleet action, dilithium daily or three, fleet action, dilithium daily or 3, fleet action, done for the day. Next.

Yeah, that won't be nerfed. Just pretend they didn't warn us multiple times in their justification blog that the nerfs would be incoming.

I won't even go into a second possibility where the reason we now have 0 dil for STFs was because it was just a big **** you to all of us who cashed in our STF drops for many millions of dil overall rather than save for rep system. I won't even begin to speculate how much in total except I do know it's in the millions based on conversion tribble reports on these forums alone. So I won't really go into THAT stuff but it's amazing how we went from yes you're getting dil just reduced numbers to you get 0 dil in the span of like a week or days, and to not tell us in the slightest and just drop the bombshell on us after the patch goes live. It's like they had two patches, one for people playing ball and another for people not playing ball. One with dil rewards for STFs and the other with no rewards.

As a result of this, people are pissed. And now you know. And you can stop trolling because that's exactly what it is when you start a new thread rather than post in the existing threads to ensure everyone sees your addition to the commentary of this subject matter and you can sit back and enjoy getting people riled up. Soooooo, a mod needs to just close and or delete this noise.

I was accepting of everything having less dilithium, and there being more sources. I thought it would be great to do all kinds of things in game, and make some dilithium doing everything that I enjoy doing.

Much to my surprise, I came on last night, did 4 elite STFs, Azure rescue, Into The Hive, and a Tau Dewa system patrol, and GOT ZERO DILITHIUM!

What has killed crafting is not dilithium. Its because the top gear in the crafting tree is just not very good. It needs some top end gear to rejuvenate it. People just need to stop crying whenever there is a change.

To the OP, the problem is that fleet actions like sb24 you cannot do it with your fleet because you will end up competing for the purple gear so its every man (or women) for themselves. In stfs you had teamwork and got rewarded for it but now you dont. The rewards made fleets work together in stfs, it does the opposite now in sb24 or whatever now.

I'm sick of hearing about it. The changes aren't that bad. It's all a bunch of hyperbole from people who are afraid of change. Yes some of the changes are regrettable, but I've seen the new rewards they added and I feel it's worth it. If you don't like the fact that I disagree with you, that doesn't give you a right to insult me or look down your nose at me.

I'm truly sick of hearing it. My ignore list has remained empty since the game game out. It's about to get very crowded, as every complainer I see is going there. Zero tolerance. I don't like doing this, but I'm just sick of hearing it. I get that you people don't like it, but I don't like hearing about it every moment I'm in the game and all over the forums for a FREAKING month. Just shut up already.

I come here to play a game that I enjoy, not to listen to a bunch of mindless prattle of people all spreading the same doomsday hyperbole all the time...

But there's nothing for me in the new season. Fleet grinding and PUGs? No thanks. I'll just go back to my pew pew pew...

Oh you preach it brother.. It's about having the 'FREEDOM' to enjoy other areas to get dilithium. Not having the 'Government' force us to play something we don't want to play--like PVP's or fleet actions for which i do not like to play.
I liked STF's. That's where i got my dilithium. But now, it's not worth it. Especially with no loot drop that can be turned into EDC's and/or dilithium.

The last three days, I have FAR exceeded the daily refinement cap without playing a single STF. That said, STFs really arent my thing. It is one step below PvP. From what I have seen it is that they are mad that the dilithium is removed from the STF because it is what they LIKE to do. Not neccesarily because it is the best way to earn it. I do empathize with them but, It does not affect me personnally.
