    So, some obvious questions arise - like, does starship countermeasure skill effect the strength/duration (or both!) of the placate proc? How does that interact with the KHG shield placate, AMS, and the Entertainer Doff from the temporal lock box? Can I actually build a 'jammer' escort and simply deny my enemy a viable target? If so, that seems... nerf-worthy.

    How much DPS on average does the +30 weapons prof actually add? How much does the 3% crit bonus add? It may be that even if you are not planning to run the jammer build that you would want to take the crit chance buff anyway, simply because it's the better DPS add.

    How much healing do the shield procs actually add? And do points in Emitters buff the heal? Will shield regen buffs also buff the passive regen bonus?

    Oh, also, note that at launch, there will be NO way to respec these choices - they are looking to add that functionality 'later', but to begin with, you are stuck with your selections. This means many silly things, but chief among them it means that it will be nigh-impossible to 'fix' a power once this goes live, because people will (rightly) lose it if the power they picked and are now stuck with gets nerfed.

    So, yeah, there needs to be some intense testing of these powers, which means there needs to be a way to get access to them without grinding the rep tiers, since the patch will go live before anyone can get access to the 'problem' powers. I'm SURE that Cryptic has some in-house QA working on this, but honestly, really, are they testing things like the Jam build with full spec into crit chance, critx3 weapons, full points into countermeasures, AMS, and KHG shields? Because if not...

    The two scenarios I keep seeing are the following:

    BO3 crits - placates - torps hit - target has to read who killed them.

    BO3 crits - shields heal - torps hit - target wiggles their ship while laughing.

    No, they won't be properly tested and it won't matter because if they turn out to need rebalancing later they will NOT give out free respecs anyway. In theory, everytime a power pass is done in CO people with affected powers and powersets should get a free respec to all characters with them. The last free respec was..... a very, VERY, VEEEERY long time ago.

    If changes nerf our picked powers we will complain, and be subtly pointed to the respec token. I'm 100% certain things like switching picked rep passives will be made part of a regular respec token.

    But hey, now we know WHY they suddenly started looking at nerfing healing, the Borg set, etc. So to achieve your previous durability and dps you would look to grinding the rep systems... I'm a little embarrassed to not have seen it coming earlier.

    I know it's silly, but that's how I tend to build ships...and I was looking at this:

    Phased Polarons with Rep 'n Rom console
    Power Drain Proc
    Extra Shield Damage Proc
    100% Ignore Shield Kinetic Damage Proc
    Plasma Damage Proc
    Increased Crit Hit

    The Borg Rep Crit Placate was a visual bug - but the Rom Rep isn't. So with additional +crit; you could also proc the Placate.

    Heck, Cruisers sporting Spiral Waves...

    Maybe two piece the Borg secondary for OWA...

    ...wait for the planets to align and have proc Heaven!

    Yeah, it's silly - stupid... but it's been a long day.

    edit: I mean, c'mon, what are the odds of getting 6-7+ procs from each of 8 beams firing..?

    You see, the problem is, once PVP finally gets a Season to itself there will be some much **** connected to it - lockbox ships, lockbox consoles, Lobi Store gear, reputation system passive buffs, C Store stuff etc etc. By the time that season comes it'll be too late to do anything to save PVP.

    It's well before any of that, I think - the problem some folks are having. It's not so much about having a PvP Season... it's just a simple wish for them to consider PvP as they pump out all the PvE stuff...

    I have the PvP Revamp solution! Come play MWO and pretend you are in a starship, all you have to do is Fire Ze Lazers and there isn't any AMS or Power Siphons drone!

    Should be getting the big goodie patch today, and open beta within a couple weeks. NDA is lifted so we can talk about MWO being everything STO isn't- all PvP, content incoming, F2P.

    Did anyone notice Chris Roberts (wing commander fame) is ALSO creating a space MMO ?

    Personaly, I'm more than a little interested in SOE's announcement of EQ Next. (Smed said here lately they have scraped all their existing plans and that a re-design is coming to a massive sandbox) Have to admit, I miss a "sandbox" game with open world PVP and a engine that can support most of it. Will still miss the open space version of SWG's PVP (JTL) which was more "skill"/gear based with all the gear being made via crafters.

    STO PVP has been dead for quite a while. In retrospec, it started with P2W and most of us tried to tell them this would happen way back when.

    Not entirely true! They do have AMS. It's called Anti-Missile System, and in MWO is your best friend. Unlike in this game where AMS (and all other p2w TRIBBLE) is not your friend.

    Indeed another big patch is coming to MWO today. Only 10 minutes to patch time!

    And I bought the $60 Elite founders package. I love my big kitties! It is said they made $5 million on founder package sales from July to its end two weeks ago. All pvp, all the time, is also a wonderful thing.

    To those that haven't done so yet, add me up. I'm Ihasa over there too. So far there's enough STO refugees we could start a small guild.

    The 5% Placate here is a bug - that was there as a placeholder. The alternative to Shield Regeneration is actually a 2.5% chance for your energy weapons to proc Kinetic damage with 100% shield penetration.

    JORF! I owe all my success to a month or two ago, you suggested dropping the medium lazers on my Jenner-R for 6 smalls. That plus my 300XL engine is kicking some butt.

    I take it guilds will be added to the game eventually? I haven't played on a team yet and can image the strategy would be awesome.
