When thinking about selecting a name for my Odyssey-class starship I eventually settled on the name U.S.S. Entreprenante. My brother ended up naming his Odyssey the U.S.S. Temeraire. We envisioned them as being sister ships.
    U.S.S. Endeavour NCC-71895 - Nebula-class
Commanding Officer: Captain Pyotr Ramonovich Amosov
    Dedication Plaque: "Nil Intentatum Reliquit"

As a history fan specialising in the Age of Sail, it was a fairly obvious choice to name my primary ship the USS Trafalgar. My main character has used this name for every ship from his Constitution class, all the way up to his Excelsior Retrofit, USS Trafalgar (NCC-211005-D, cookie if you get it ;) ).

My main character's Danube class runabout is named the USS Joseph Porter after the character of the Lord High Admiral from Gilbert and Sullivan's 'HMS Pinafore', which I had been rehearsing when I commissioned the ship. He also has the Type 8 Shuttlecraft, USS Portsmouth, named for one of the Royal Navy's primary bases of operations.

My main character's Mirror Universe alt version flies a Terran Empire Assault Cruiser called the ISS Crassus, after the Roman General who crushed the slave revolt of Spartacus. It seemed appropriately Terran. :P

My secondary character is a Romulan exile, who flies an experimental Defiant class, the USS Khellian, the Romulan word for 'Hunter'. His ship is outfitted with Romulan disruptor and plasma weapons, as well as a cloaking device, all salvaged from his colony world after it was attacked by the Imperial Romulan Fleet for trying to negotiate with the Federation for emergency resources and diplomatic recognition.

His shuttlecraft is the USS Kaleh, which is Romulan for 'Dagger'.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

My Ship name is the USS Fermions (Tactical Odyssey) , after the subatomic particles, that are not bosons, like quarks. Also got the USS Baryon (Chimera class) which are protons and nuetrons. I have the USS Gauge Boson , which surprise , surpise is a boson
Yeah ... all sciencey just like my picture, which is of my favourite Element OSMIUM!!
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

My ships all have Klingon names, and eventhough it looses something in the translation...they all have some or less relation to birds!

Most of my ships share names with various mecha from Gundam and SRW, usually matched by a common trait or observation. For example:

My main's Defiant + Chimera are named Gespenst and Ryukooh, respectively. The cloak of the defiant mathes it to the name of ghost, while the transformation the Chimera goes under gives it the fit to Ryukooh.

Another good match is my eng captain's Oddyssey, named Alteisen Riese. Just felt right for the largest fed ship to be named 'giant' :)

The rest are usually funnies, like my main's Oddy, the U.S.S. Bells'n'Whistles
    Ikuzo, Trombe!

Let's see... of the ships I currently "rotate" between...

U.S.S. Courageous - Tac Odyssey. Named after my favorite toy when growing up.

U.S.S. Scattershot - Armitage class. Named after Scattershot, an Autobot whose battle tactics mainly included spraying weapons fire everywhere. It was a fitting name for a ship that uses Scatter Volley, Torp Spread, and the glorious TORPEDO JUSTICE photon console. :D

U.S.S. Solitude - Science Odyssey. It's my Purple Polaron Death toy - it has my JH set on it, and six phased polaron arrays. Name is a Skyrim reference, for no particular reason besides that I have a tough time coming up with original ship names.

U.S.S. Santangelo - Chimera-class. Veronica is my favorite follower in Fallout: New Vegas. One second she's funny and thoughtgul when you're speaking to her; the next minute she's punching Raiders in the face with her Power Fist.

S.S. Normandy (Tuffli)- Named due to being earned for and mostly used by the 21st Cerberus Fleet...and because Mass Effect is so awesome lol. I have been using this almost exclusively for the past 3 days.

U.S.S. Rapax (Caitian Atrox Carrier) - Latin for Predator....due to my liking of the Predator race from AvP.

U.S.S. Furtim (stalker fighter) - Latin for Stealth...due to its inate ability to get close to a target....and unloaded a Tricobalt and Thoron pulse into an unsuspecting NPC hahaha.

U.S.S. Avatar (Advanced Escort) - I love the movie....and all the awesome Fanfics, like No One Gets Left Behind.

U.S.S. Kyuubi (Heavy Escort Carrier) - Kurama rules, preferably a Fem Version.

U.S.S. Maelstrom (Tactical Escort) - just because it sounded cool lol.

Just started playing today and I named my little Light Cruiser U.S.S Brightstar, this was the name of a Character I had in CoH and thought it would actually work as the name of a Starship, also If some of my SG mates join me here from there then it will be easy to recognize me.:P

My first RA level ship was a Deep Space Science Vessel that I called the U.S.S. Yagokoro. A Touhou reference. Pretty much retired now.

After getting 3 more ships, I named them after the three components of Aristotle' classical argument:

    U.S.S. Logos (Advanced Escort)

    U.S.S. Pathos (Orb Weaver)

U.S.S. Ethos (Mobius Temporal Destroyer) - default

The Logos and Pathos are semi-retired, but I go back to them on occasion.

My Klingon runs just one ship:

    A.K.S. Su'shi Na'if (Mirror Qin Raptor)

An obvious pun on its thin and sharp look.

My current ship name (in sig) was chosen because I've always gravitaed toward that word since Revell used it for one of their "Robotech Defenders" model line. It was also used in City of Heroes MMO for a historical character that had a big role in the game's history. Regardless, getting the Constitution II was my chance to use it :) I kept the default Registry number because ... why not? :P

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

My two main ships I use:

U.S.S. Nye (Fleet Advanced Research Retrofit) - Named after Bill Nye the Science Guy. Was the only ship with the name that I saw for about 2 years, up until recently.

U.S.S. Thomas Dolby (Fleet Science Vessel Refit) - Named after Thomas Dolby, who sang the hit song "She Blinded Me with Science".

My main ship is called the USS Horizon, simply because I liked the name.

My Gorn ship is called Ventus 1, it's a made up word, but I wanted something I liked the sound of. I added the 1 at the end, because of Boba Fett's ship, Slave 1. I think it sounded cool. It also mean't that I could call the next ship Ventus 2 and avoid the problem the feds have of not being able to have two ships with the same name when you progress from A to B, etc.

Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser I.S.S. Warspite, named after the Royal Navy battleship that fought in both world wars and reflecting the mirror Empire's more militaristic attitude. I doubt the federation would ever use such a name.

My Hegh'ta is named 'Sudden Death', because it's a hit-and-run Hegh'ta (the kind that Feddies like to complain about).

My Guramba is named Serpent Claw, because the toon that flies it is a Gorn, and it's an all-Gorn Boff crew.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.

    She's the U.S.S. CHANGELING...

I suppose it's a fairly obvious reference, but it seemed apropos.

At the moment i'm back flying the U.S.S. Cynisca. An Akira variant I flew on my way to the top way back when it took a little longer to level a toon. I'm back using the Cynisca (Now up to the letter B) since they released the Armitage carrier version and I love carrier combat.

For the first two years or so I flew the U.S.S. Lysander at endgame, which was a Prometheus and later an MVAM Prometheus.

Both names (and the names of all the ships my main has used) are of notable Spartans.

Due to it's look, a mix of Armitage and Thunderchild parts, I've also nicknamed it the Akirandy, since from behind it looks like the SSV Normandy with a saucer section attached to the front.

I intend on getting the mirror universe Temporal Destroyer aswell, if I manage that and the name fits I'll call it the U.S.S. Einstein Rosen

    My ships:

U.S.S. Avalon NCC-974777-E - Odyssey-class named for the final resting place of King Arthur (as well as the location where Excalibur was forged.)

U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-974777/1 - The Avalon's Aquarius Escort, named for King Arthur's sword.

U.S.S. Pendragon NCC-974777/2 - Danube-class runabout. Named after Arthur Pendragon himself.

U.S.S. Senbonzakura NCC-91006 - Akira-class Heavy Escort Carrier (I know, its an Armitage, but Im using the Akira skin). Named for Byakuya Kuchiki's bankai, that consisted on thousands of blades that look like cherry blossom leaves. Appropriate considering the Photon torpedo system. Registry number ends in 6, for Byakuya's squad in the Bleach manga.

U.S.S. Steven P. Jobs NCC-95014-A - Defiant-class Named for former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, shortly after his passing last October. Registry number matches Apple HQ's zip code in Cupertino, CA. Registered with 'A' as the suffix for Apple Inc.

U.S.S. Rukia Kuchiki NCC-91013 Hephaestus-class, Named for Squad 13 lieutenant Rukia Kuchiki from the Bleach manga. Registry end in 13 for Rukia's squad.

U.S.S Northwestern NCC-92986 - Galor-class, named for my favourite vessel on Deadliest Catch

S.S. Century Eagle NAR-93504 - Tuffli-class, An homage to the great smuggler ship of Star Wars fame the Millenium Falcon.

U.S.S. Solaris NX-97343 - Sovereign-class, I just like the word Solaris. No real reason. Number is in lin with U.S.S. Regent registry of NCC-97310. In my fictional universe, the first ship in the federation to mount Spiral Wave Disruptors.

U.S.S. Quantum NCV-128807 - Wells-class. Name and registry contain 4 references to time travel shows and movies. Can you guess them all?

Highlight below if you can't guess the Quantum references.

    Quantum - Quantum Leap
12 - Delorean DMC 12, the car in Back to the Future
88 - the speed in Back to the Future required to activate the Flux Capacitor
07 - Seven Days, a show about a secret military organization that posesses a sphere with the ability to travel back in time 7 days. Particularly appropriate considering the Wells special console.

Highlight above if you can't guess the Quantum references.

I don't suppose there's any Klingon speakers here?

I currently have a low level Klingon character that I want to develop a bit more, who is flying a ship called the IKS Pagh, named after the ship Riker goes to on that officer exchange programme in TNG.

I've looked through various dictionaries for words I like the sound of for ship names, but I have no idea if the following are grammatically correct. Any notes would be much appreciated!

So far I've decided on these potential ship names:

IKS Doghjey vo' tera' (Unconditional surrender of Earth)
IKS Doghjey vo' DIvI' (Unconditional surrender of the Federation)
    IKS ghIqtal (To the death)
    IKS chontay (Ritual Hunt)
    IKS Mang (Soldier)
    IKS SeDveq (Barbed spearhead)
    IKS yanwI' (Swordsman)
    IKS charghwI' (Conqueror)
    IKS veqlargh (Demon)
    IKS 'oDwI' (Arbitrator)

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

    So far...

    Aria - sci / carrier
Ballad - light cruiser / battlecruiser
Cantata - light escort / raider
    Dirge - shuttle / yacht
Elegy - heavy escort / raptor / raider
Fantasia - heavy cruiser / BC
    Galliard - heavy destroyer
    Hymn - ?
    Inno - ?

Easier to keep track of things if a ship's name designates a role ^-^.

Once I figured out the naming scheme and numbering system of the game, I ran with Angel names/ranks. Right now I am running Odyssey Operations; U.S.S. Seraphim N.C.C 92662-F. All the lower ships have the same number (reference to the bible (Isaiah (26th book) chapter 6 verse two)) but are named with lower angel ranking systems, both in English and in Hebrew. Lame if you aren't into it, but as a Pastor I kinda find it fun.
