This is the Star Trek Online Gateway feedback and discussion thread! Please post any comments or feedback you have about the system here!
What is the Star Trek Online Gateway?
Star Trek Online Gateway is a web application which lets you look at your captains, ships, bridge officers, and other data from STO. Eventually, you will be able to interact with Star Trek Online through Gateway without logging in to the full 3D client.
The purpose of Gateway is to let players into Star Trek Online without needing to start up the full client.
Visit
http://gatewaytest.startrekonline.com to access the STO Gateway.
Please note that as this is a beta release, character information and data will be pulled from your Tribble account. To sign up for the Tribble Test Server and transfer a character to it, visit this page.
Feedback
Star Trek Online Gateway is in early Beta, and we look forward to hearing what you think about it. Let us know what you're thinking by commenting below in this forum thread.
If you have technical issues or experience any bugs such as problems using Gateway with your web browser or device, please let us know by posting to
this forum thread. Please let us know what operating system and browser (including version numbers) you are using. If you are using a mobile device, let us know which one.
Also, take a glance at the Known Issues below for a list of things we already know about.
Browser Requirements- Gateway is tailored to work on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices supporting HTML5.
- Gateway has been verified to operate on recent versions of Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. It may work on earlier versions of these browsers. It does not work on Internet Explorer 8 or earlier.
- Gateway requires the use of cookies.
- Gateway requires the use of Javascript.
Login Issues
Cookie Usage- A cookie is used to keep track of your session while you using Gateway. This is a "session cookie" and is not kept after you leave the page.
- A second, persistent cookie is also used by Account Guard to determine if the particular browser install is authorized for use with your account. This cookie contains no account information.
Known Issues- Gateway does not work on Internet Explorer 8 or earlier.
- Character changes that occur in the client are not immediately updated on the web. You must log out and back in to see the changes.
- Pictures of bridge officers do not show the officer in their chosen stance.
- Pictures of ships do not show additions or changes that come from equipment (e.g. Borg equipment, etc.)
- Though Gateway uses the language preferred by your browser, there is some text that is not yet translated. Gateway supports the same languages Star Trek Online does: English, German, and French.

And I get the to mnay login attampts after trying again!
Feedback oh yeah forgot about this.
Not sure if its implemented yet but in Chrome if you zoom the page in (ctrl+scrollwheel) the images dont scale correctly.
For example the tactical console images start to clip over the words tactical consoles

Btw i would love it if it was like a desktop app, instead of browser based?
I enter it but I can't reach the button to get to the next screen.
"Next", or scrolling doesn't allow me to get to the button bellow the "Name browser" section
Executive Officer of Alpha Squadron
Logging in, I get the "Account Verification" screen, and it is bigger than the screen allows, so I simply can't get to the bottom and click whatever button to continue after using my code from the verification email.
It simply doesnt scroll down to the bottom.
EDIT: switching to Desktop version does not allow the "Account Verification" overlay to be re-sized or scrolled.
EDIT2: On my Asus Transformer Infinity tablet, I can see the "browser name" field and "submit" button that were cut off by the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen, but of course the Gateway Under Maintenance issue is the next roadblock. :P

Experiancing the same issue with iOS 6 Safari and iphone 4S.
Finally got in, had to use Chrome! I like it so far, the accolades screen would be cool if you had a list of ones you were missing and the are or mission where to get them (not how). This could also be implemented on the game UI as well.
Another sugesstion is on the main screen instead of login on and off to switch toons or charaters, have a tab at the top for all of them.
1) Put more ability and gear info in the pop-ups. Give us something very similar to what we can get in the Status window in-game.
2) (Not sure as I only looked at it a wee bit, but in case ) If stats aren't given with modifiers, please do so. I don't need base strengths; I'd like to know final strengths, DPS, etc. after modifications are considered.
As for long-term:
1) DOFF system, of course! lol. But I believe that's already on the table for future changes.
2) Inventory/Device Slot swapping. If I don't have the client installed and I want to switch stuff out, I'd like to do that and see how it affects things.

Yes please. I know XMPP clients can do the same, but they seem a bit borked for Fleet Chat specifically. Maybe any other chat we're subscribed to.
At any rate, basic communication (chat, tells, mail) and Fleet management (and later personal projects too) would be ENORMOUS helps.

Add in game mail would be a cool idea also. Inventory and your ships would be another good idea. A lot can be done with this. Adding a small amount of Fleet info would be cool. Just the basic info here, fleet name, tier of each level, and current operation that need filled or the timer.
My ship's bridge stations show ALL BO powers as active. Even the BO in the Ensign slot has all 4 highlighted. The inactive powers should be darkened or not visible.
There should be an option or bar on every screen that allows you to go to any other screen. Right now it's Main Screen -> Ship Systems -> Main Screen -> Personnel Files -> Main Screen -> Accolades. There's plenty of examples of LCARS button bars that could be added to the top or bottom of the interface.
All my BOs are shown as the exact same height, filling their little rectangle. That is inaccurate.
Accolades only has a "Completed" tab, and no "Incomplete" or even an "In Progress" tab.
The log in screen has no option to remember my username.
Edit: There is a flashing blue light in the middle of the picture for the character select. It is behind the character, but part of it is noticeable. Additionally, the character select picture seems to be subject to some of the weird camera angles that the character database headshots were.
This would be cool

Item stats aren't shown and in most cases your ground equipment is shown as white regardless of wither they are uncommon, rare, or very rare (but mouseover shows its proper rarity).
Also, when I went to take a look at my KDF character, one of the fields indicated diplomatic rank, in this case a blank field because diplomatic rank doesn't exist for the KDF. Should we expect to see this changed to a Marauding information box for KDF characters?
No ability to switch between characters without a complete logout. I imagine this is something we'll see in the future, however.
Incorrectly identifies the DHC in my forward weapons slots as turrets. The icons are correct, but when you click on the weapon, it gives the details for turrets instead.
No mouseover data. It'd be nice to get some sort of quick information from a mouseover, rather than having to click on every item or officer in order to see what each one may be. Again, probably something that will be fleshed out later.
Not sure I'm sold on this being browser based. I think I'd prefer an actual application. We'll just have to see how it goes I guess.
It also seems rather unstable on Firefox, but this is still in beta.
From what I've seen, it seems to be working fine on silk.
One gripe about the way the page is structured though. I haven't been able to find a way, if there is one, to switch which character I'm viewing without logging off and back in.
Apart from that, it seems like the ship view isn't wide enough to view wider ships, like the Dkora, and the character headshots aren't exactly great looking.
Then theres the career specific accolade images, which look bad on pc browsers.
In fact, there are several accolade (mostly the damage accolades) look blurry, and a few with opaque backgrounds that look out of place (Neural Nibble, Enemy of the Terran Empire, Separation are the ones I've seen)
It's using tribble characters at the moment, if that makes a difference
In the Accolades UI, I can see that each accolade "section" is comprised of a title bar and a display area where icons for each accolade is shown. I also noticed that each accolade section is collapsible and when an accolade section is collapsed, there is a violation of the LCARS look and feel rules.
Specifically when an accolade section is in collapsed mode, the title bar graphics should be rounded on both sides. Currently when collapsed, only the left side of the title bar is rounded and the right side is still rendering as if it were in an "uncollapsed" state instead of being rounded.
I should add that this does not affect the functionality of the gateway in any way, it is just inconsistent with the visual look of the LCARS interface.
