how to get the wells-class ship

I understand that everyone hates these lockboxes but i just wanted to share on how to unlock the ship since i got it twice one for my mine character and another for my alt character so any way this is how i got mine

I first started of with by buying about 5000 zen which cost me about 37 ponds and then another for 2000 zen and then brought some 10 pack lockbox keys and by opening the boxes with the keys i got the wells-class ship
my alt character
it only took about 5000 zen with about 40 lockbox keys to get the ship in my alt character
I'm not sure if this will work for everyone but just wanted tell you unless you had a different way of getting it?

I did the same thing. Spent $50 and got 5300 z. Plus my 500 stipend, I bought 48 keys. 4 10 packs and 8 individual keys.
Got nothing but $50 USD of junk....
Being born Irish doesn't give you an edge with the boxes.
I used just a 10 pack of keys and got 2 Mirror Assaults, a Mirror Deep Space Science, and a Mirror Recon. Plus various other junk.
First one I got for psuedo-free. I traded in an old iPhone I still had at Gamestop and used the trade value to buy PWE zen cards. bought 50 keys and converted the rest to dilithium for the fleet starbase. Wells class was key #23.
Earlier this week I bought 28 keys with EC. Wells class was inside the last of the 28 lockboxes I opened.
Sold the first wells class last month. Sitting on the second one, hoping the prices go up or that someone will want to trade for a jem hadar ship when they come back out for the Winter Event.
I copied my character over to tribble after I got the first one and tried it out. Not really my cup of tea. I am a pretty big escort ship fan.
Thats why I want one of the jem hadar ships. I'm hoping either the price drops on them pretty sharply when they are re-introduced, or I would gladly trade someone my wells class. I also have a ferengi shuttle I can throw in to sweeten the deal.
Some of the lockbox ships are (relatively) cheap on the exchange. If you want one, I would use your stipend and/or dilithium to buy c-store keys and then sell them on the exchange. Quick way to make enough bank to buy a ship.
I'm in the same boat you are buddy! Have friends who have either gotten 2-3 of the same ship or have at least 1 of each of the lockbox ships, but I haven't unlocked one. The only one I'm REALLY interested in is a Romulan lockbox if one is ever made so who knows... Maybe my luck is holding out for that one!
The two most valuable parts of the Temporal box are the temporal science vessel, 72 million credits (on exchange) with a 0.4% drop chance = 276k/box expecatation, and Lobi crystals which are worth about 90k a pop (72 million for a mobius/800 crystals per), and you get 5.4 of them per box, so 490k value per box.
Even if you want both a wells and a mobius you're still better off paying EC, and if you want zen-> EC buy master keys and sell on the exchange.
I screwed this up, I had 569 crystals from dilithium + stipend zen -> master keys and I bought my way up to 800 lobi to get a mobius which cost me 55 million credits, whereas I could have spent 10 million credits, got the temporal warfare set, and then bought a mobius later (or with equivalent Real money -> EC) to get the temporal warfare set. Oops. Big big oops.
The lockboxes are nothing but gambling, and lossy gambling at that. So avoid them so long as other people (like me!) do the math after they wasted their money.
IMO they should make the lobi crystal rewards and the lockbox ships account unlocks, that would significantly boost the value of the boxes without significantly boosting the value of the boxes (you can only fly one ship on one character at a time, so it won't TRIBBLE up game balance, but it would make the boxes much more appealing, more value to a person, but not more value to a character). That or they need to significantly boost the Lobi rewards or something.
This is the element of your "how to get" guide I have a problem with.
You realize that this is more expensive than ANY other ship in the game, and it is a one time thing... If you discard it, it's gone... and you only get it for one char.
It is the same problem with the STF proto drops which I am glad there fixing in season 7. Now if they did the same for the lock boxes I would not mind anymore about opening them, however right now it is a fraud/scam for the players in my percentile.

You'll probably be able to get a Mobius for that, but even when the bugs are available (assuming it comes back for the Winter event) the Wells will be down in the 50's maybe 60's at that point. Theyre already dipping to 65-67m. Bugs bottomed out around 150 when they were available from the Gamma packs.
This is kind of a Necro thread, but i'll give you an answer anyways.
There are Lots of ways of making Lots of EC's just in game, any lockbox ship can be bought for EC's on the exchange.
For example, i doff all my toons everyday, those missions can earn in excess of 3 million per toon per day if i get good ones to run, at that rate it doesnt take long to raise the money for most lockbox ships (darn Jem Bug excluded LOL). But a direct answer is no, you don't have to go broke buying Zen to get a lockbox ship.
