Sounds like another f'in cruiser
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Yeah, but I was hoping for an escort/sci hybrid that can mount dual cannons.
You might well get one similar to the Armitage but it's going to get taxed on turnrate, hull, or shields for that combo. (The flipside is that it may make up for it with consoles.)
My gut says the Vesta will be halfway between a 2500 ZEN ship and the full Odyssey pack.
So... One ship. Some universal stations. Underpowered on base stats. Comes with 10 console slots... But needs to use two or three very situational gimmick consoles and weapons to make up for its base stats, which feed it back needed turnrate.
And they need to do this both to give it the appropriate gimmicks... and to justify a higher price. And they will have to charge money for it because they are probably paying a hefty fee for the design through licensing if not outright buying it. And since the ship costs more to produce, the price has to be higher... but to justify the price being higher, it will be flashy and full of gimmicks. But if you strip the gimmick consoles, probably the worst T5 ship.
See how that works? It'll be a mediocre or bad ship due to its hybridization. Made great due to consoles which make up for its deficits but force you to play a certain way. And the gimmicks will justify maybe a 3500 ZEN price, which Cryptic needs to charge to make up for what they're paying Mark Rademaker. But they'll make the gimmicks flashy enough that, hopefully, you don't think about what an odd duck the ship is without gimmick consoles/weapons or think too hard about how much more it costs. And people will gripe about the cost but, likely, most of the additional price is there to cover Mark Rademaker's cut.
I really wish they'd just branch out and start adding other classes of ships into the game (frigates, corvettes, destroyers, battle cruisers, battleships, and dreadnaughts).
All of this cruiser, cruiser, cruiser, cruiser, cruiser stuff gets really old after awhile. The game has no respect for canon anyways so who the hell cares?
not even at the 1k mark , so doesnt bother me much ( 4 off 700 lol )
but yeah the fed fleet is very cruiser heavy , but seeing how many ships in the escort and science tree are in actuality cruisers too but have been re designated to fit , theres no reason they need to keep shoehorning them into the engineering path

It could be a destroyer like the aquarius... So we can mount cannons and all that...
But so far, it dosent seem like its going to be anything but a cruiser.

personally i think they need to redefine ships a little
instead of having all cruisers shoved in the engineering focus , escorts in tac etc
have ships of all three persuasions available to each line
say for tactical , yes theres escorts , but the excelsior ? the sovereign ? those are more tactically minded, so should fall under the tactical arm of things
i know its pointless suggesting stuff like this , since any captain can use any ship , just would have been a better way to go in my opinion. that way we dont get a bazillion cruisers all doing the same job only slighlty different , they could be spread out into specialised roles
I'm just picturing the riot that would ensue here if it transformed into a giant robot suit in the style of certain Transformers and most all Gundam/Power Rangers/Voltron/etc.
Funny thing is, it's something a lot of ship design nerds love to dream up and I think has been a subject of interest for several canon ship designers. But if Cryptic ever did it, I think they could probably be prosecuted for murder for all the aneurysms it would cause on the forums.
I mean, if people freaked out over lirpa-sabers, imagine when they see a Galaxy-class turn into a giant space robot wielding its saucer as a shield, hacking away at other ships with an antiproton energy sword.
Man, I'd totally troll the forums with that idea if I were Geko. ;-)

I've seen that Comic/Manga... Kirk fights a bunch of flying Space Mecha piloted by kids. One of their giant vibra-swords even got stuck in the bridge and they couldn't dislodge it, so the whole time they had a sword blade bigger than a dining room table sticking out from the view screen pointed at poor Chekov's face.

Just my foresight on the Vesta.

Sadly that means that I won't be flying it... Cruisers do not fit my play style at all...
We asked them about this well before the Ent-F contest... now I know why they didn answer ...
Sounds like Optimus Prime. Go-go Starfleet mech Suit! Voltron ho!
Your humor (sarcasm?) escapes me... Elaborate?

Geko can probably play basketball but that doesn't make him an NBA player.
I'm saying Geko has a knack for teasing people and strikes me as a bit of a prankster.

I'm betting its one of the finalists (the one that looked like a modernized Constitution Class), but I can't seem to find the images anywhere.
I bet your right and I bet it shares the Exeter/Excalibur/etc. skin.
Prankster you say...
They probably died with the old webpage.

Ya' know what, I would not mind this at all. I love the looks of the Miranda. Having a nimble little t% Cruiser would be fun to fly.
Looks like a Sovereign and an Abrams Enterprise had a baby.
SHHH... They may hear you...
Ugh, please no.
Fuzzyprise is the only acceptable answer.
