What is with the servers lately?

Last three days myself, and many others included have been having a really hard time staying connected, logging in, and even being able to chat with each other. Has anyone else been having this problem? I can hardly stay logged in for more than 30min before the server drops me or my friends.

    I glad in a way to hear that others are having the same issue, I was beginning to think that it was just my connection. It is very frustrating when this happens.

    Tell me about it, I've tried running at least 6 STF's now with people getting dropped, my friends not even making it in, or me disconnecting as we're fighting the final boss... I wish they would post something because from what I've been reading and experienced we're not the only ones with this problem and it all started since the last patch.

    Actually, they have. It just that you're not looking in the correct forum for it...

    Thank you, I only check STO forums for the most part, but glad they're working on the problem. Hmm looks like no progress has been made though :/ I hope they can get everything worked out and fixed.

    You know I hear this a lot threw the years but I never have any problems! Maybe my location... Is there different servers based on location in the USA? Because I just don't have problems. Plus I play erratic but daily. It may be at work at 1pm or likley at home at 9 pm eastern when the kids are in bed. But only remember once in a year that I got booted or rubber band. When the game first came out.., oh yes. When the game had it first major update and again when F2p there were a few times. But it's been a real while.

    Sometimes you should check you wifi card, modem, and computer. There is so many blips on those. I have just a few days ago got booted. When I do I check Internet to see if its down and it was. Router reset for some reason. Just saying check you hardware the moment of boot off. Don't just blame the game.

    Try disabling on Demand patching in the Laucher options. For some reason there is nearly a 5GB patch that your game is working on whilst your playing. Perhaps that may be the reason why the servers are so messed up

    There is only one server location, located in the Boston area. The issue is that there are multiple ISP backbones that connects to Cogent Communications (who's networks host the STO Servers) and only some of these backbone connections have the connection/lag issues...

    Considering I am from the US, my other friends are from Spain, Britain, and Canada, I would assume that it is the game and not our connections because all of us haven't had any problems until the last patch, every other game I have works just fine even Xbox. No lag no nothing.

    As I have checked my hardware, and called my ISP everything checks out just fine, so I'm going to have to agree with Grouchyotaku that it is the connection problem with Cogent.

    Also tried the On-Demand patching, still nothing, I can't even log in with out Game Server timed out, or cannot connect to login server now. If I do, its a miracle and only lasts for about 40secs before the Server disconnects me again.
