Stranded in Space - Broken

edited September 2012 in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
Yesterday after update decided to replay some old episodes. Stranded in Space starts off fine, but after beaming to Azura all away team members were left on my ships transporter pad and in the mini map my transporter room overlays onto the map of the Azura. Today when I tried playing it again it started off fine just like before, but this time only one away team member remained on my ship with the map again overlaying onto the Azura. But when I went through the door my remaining away team members vanish.

As this is basically the first mission in the episodes this needs to be fixed asap as to any brand new players this does not give a good impression of STO.

There's more. I just went into the mission also after re-doing the tutorial to review after a long absence.
On board the Azura, there is an injured vulcan female who, after being revived by a medic, won't go to the transporter room to prepare to beam out after being instructed, but just stands there.
In the warp core room, there is an Orion thug half materialized in one corner, shooting at a crew member who never gets hurt, and he appears to be imbedded inside the wall by his transporter beam. He is also impossible to shoot, but he appears on the map as hostile.
Once I reach the Warp core room and the next step is to speak to the captain, it is impossible to proceed because there is no captain on board. This is a serious "spacial disturbance", because it means I can't complete the mission.
There is also an injured crewman who just stands there, facing a row of boxes, that I can't interact with, and on a plus side, some of the orion thugs apear to be on drugs and wont react to you until you actually shoot them. But that last bit may be on purpose.:D

I should also mention that aborting the mission and trying again didn't help. Granted, I came back the next day as I had been playing until 4 in the morning and was running on three coconut cookies... The first time, I logged out, the second time, I beamed out and found myself booted out of my game!

Can not complete it at all.

My Bridge crew do beam over to the Azura But then when trying to fight the first set of Orion they disappear Back to my ship and get stuck on the transporter pad and they some times die.

Then there is the Orion them Self's you shoot them they bounce and then they get stuck in wall's.They disappear when they get shot once Captain Brott is missing in the Engine room.

This is the First mission and needs fixed ASAP.Can not get past the First mission.

No matter what i do these bugs are here and they need fixed this was fine be for the update nothing was wrong at all.

And on top of these if there is one away team member it will not even follow the captain.

    STFs are broken too.

No optional loot in Infected space (elite)

No 'leave map' button on Cure space (but no cooldown either).

Seems KA ground is broken too with borg beaming in and out.

I would hazard the guess that removing stuff would cause more bugs, knowing this game ^^

Just report what bugs/glitches you see and wait for the next fix, and report what that breaks hehe

This patch has sucked. I'm so tired of joining STF's where the optional has already failed or the loot was already claimed. The leave map shows up after a minute or two in cure space....sometimes.

    The main reason is simple:

1: They release patch for testing on tribble on 17'th

2: Not enough people on tribble to test, so only few bug reports.

3: They release patch to live on Holodeck on 20'th.

It's quite simple: Not enough testing... Even IF there were enough testers on tribble, 3 days simply isn't enough.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

This is tied into what we're investigating in this thread: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=5786481#post5786481

Thanks for your patience as we investigate and implement a fix.

It's possible that the solution is to just log in with your Perfect world acount. I just did that and played this scenario and I only encountered minor bugs.:D

I only log in with my PWE account and it's still borked. I started a new Liberated Borg toon earlier and was excited because I've never used that race before. However, I can't get past the first mission. (I haven't played the tutorial since it became unnecessary to do so after the Season 5 update, so this is the first mission for me.)

Problem 1: the away team disappears. After you beam in, they all go back to your transporter room.

Problem 2: the second room you go to, which is the first one with Orion goons in it, has only 1 Orion in it. There are usually about 1/2 a dozen.

Problem 3: Danna Brott is missing. The map shows her being inside a wall, there's also apparently an Orion goon in there.

That was as far as I got because I literally couldn't finish the mission. After losing my away team, I figured I'd be OK because I could get through without them. However, with no Danna Brott to talk to, you literally can't progress past entering the Azura's engine room. I'm going to abort and try again, but I'm not hopeful.

Well, my second run through went better, no thanks to the game. I still lost my away team and Orion goons were appearing and disappearing at random. I did, however, manage to speak to Danna Brott before she disappeared and, thus, finish the mission.

Fortunately, I'm an experienced player who has played this mission many times and I was able to tackle it Rambo-style. However, for a new player, this could be a game ending problem. I know if I was first starting out and 1. lost my away team and 2. couldn't find the person I was supposed to talk to to continue the mission, I likely wouldn't stick with the game. If I was Cryptic, I'd get this fixed ASAP, but it's likely to wait until next Thursday, at the earliest, just like the majority of major bugs that this game has.

Yeah. a KDF mission that is very early is also broken, now. "Keep Your Enemies Close - Renting a Runabout" also beams bridge officers to a seperate location, where they die, and the mission cannot be completed. This one, also blocks progression, to the majority of KDF missions, including the Feature Episodes.

3 days is actually an improvement over earlier when it was less than 24 hours between being posted on Tribble and going live on Holodeck

For this there IS a workaround I found last night. You have to die in the engineering section.

Your Away team at least one will stand by you if you don't move. Set your whole away team to attack your target. If you look in the corner near the captain you'll notice an Orion stuck in the wall shooting her. You should be able to get a target on them just not shoot them. Once you have the target your BO/Security team will attack and kill him. Which prevents the captain from dieing. The rest is just fight your way back through it. Sadly this doesn't fix Keep your Enemies closer and other fight's but at least it fixes one so you can progress a ways in the game as a New person.

What could this last patch have added that caused the missions to be all bugged up like this? I mean come on, can't they at least see what the next patch will cause? Do they really not know that game-breaking glitches will follow?
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

How should I know? Non-Programmers really don't understand how complicated it really is.

Seriously... I have enough experience as an amateur programmer to pity anyone who writes MMOs for a living.... Things that APPEAR to be unrelated often aren't. But the relation is something complex.

Well I got past the first mission by loging out, waiting 15 min and redoing the mission it just lucked out for me after the 3-4 try. I've had to use this trick on other missions since as well. Need to make walls solid lol!

Well, as it just so happens, I am a new player. I had fun in the tutorial and am enjoying the game so far. Unfortunately, yes, this mission seems to be broken. Luckily, I am a patient and am willing to wait for a fix. It is disconcerting to see the very first mission in the game riddled with bugs though. I suppose I could just solo it but, I would really like to experience my first mission with my away team :(

Actually, there's a better solution. grab some other human players. Stranded in space has a set of accolades you can't get by soloing, to get them all you must have a team of at least 3 human players, 1 sci, 1 eng, 1 tac. (extras don't hurt but you need at least 1 of each)

Same here. I am a new player to the game. I was able to survive well enough without my away team. Annoyed the hell out of me though, searching for them everywhere. If there had simply been a few bugs in this mission then I would not have posted here. But I find myself completely unable to finish the mission. I was able to speak to Brott even though she stayed in the Azura Engineering room instead of transporting back. My problem comes to where I assume is the end of the mission. I have transported my entire team back to my ship after being told that I had to take everyone away because of imminent Warp Core Failure (with many Azura passengers staying behind for some reason, such as Brott herself). Now it says the next part of my mission is to speak to my Transporter Chief.

But none exists. All that are present are two of my crewmen treating wounds of two Azura crewmen. What is my next objective?

I understand I may need to restart the mission but this is incredibly unfair. As this is my first real mission it took me a while to get this far. I'd rather not restart the mission but I suppose I may have to.

And... the problem has worsened. After I logged out the second time I was brought back to Hyperspace, as if I had never entered the Azura but still destroyed the enemy vessels, and had to run through part of the mission over again. This time, Captain Brott is nowhere to be found, leaving me stranded yet again.
