The game has been playing fine all this time until the most recent patch. You can't tell me that its my computer because this is the only game it does it with. After minutes of patching and firing up the game. I have crashed 3 times and one with looping sound. I'm not one to complain about patches because its mostly in game issues and i deal with it. But when I am unable to play the game due to a recent patch I'm gonna say something about it. As a lifetime customer and spending the money that I did I would like to be able to play the game when I want.
So am I the only one having this issue or is it just me. System stability tests come back fine and HDD is okay.

Ive been getting this error since the game patched.
Crashed 3 times running Ground Cure (That's a long run after each crash!)
Crashed twice in fleet missions.
And now I just crashed again, this time I couldn't even CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game.
I had to disconnect power to my PC.
When this game first came out, there was so much hype. I bought the collector's edition, and remember being just as excited as the developers. Now it's like they don't even care. Gimmicks like "lockboxes", and ZEN... What did I come back to? They've bastardized my STO!

2. if 1. doesnt work, reinstall game
in the past, there were 3 updates or so which prevented me from even starting the game. option 1 however worked always. problem is, it doesnt save graphic settings and i have to set up everything every time i login again so i tried option 2 after some time and everything seemed to work again.
I am having the same error, any news on a fix yet?
Same issue with me. Was working fine until this "patch", which seemed to break more things than it fixed. Tried logging in Safe Mode, same issue. I should not have to reinstall the game that they broke with this patch, since the issue is the patch itself, and not my program or system.
Here's a map to show how much they've screwed up the game map.
It corrected the problem for me.
