The Deferi are coming out!, help needed

Now I just want to make all of you aware - and I hope you can see this as a positive thing -, the Deferi are coming out!

I always liked the Deferi and I found it a shame they are so poorly developed. I mean, the invention of this non-trek-lore race was great, but apart from their planet, an episode and the Defera missions, there was not much to this race. But because they are a none-trek-lore race, you can actually do a lot with them! After all, they are new and never mentioned in any of the films and episodes so there are few limitations.

So I found a small group of likeminded people, and we have the intention of making the Deferi into a race that counts. We have a Deferi fleet, we make Deferi boffs, we are asking Cryptic to expand Defera further, but most importantly, we are developing Deferi Lore, expanded on what is already invented in-game. History, culture, physiology, etc, etc.

There were people that tried to do something with the Deferi before, (open a twitter or facebook page, etc.) but not quite as serious as this.

If you want to see what's already there, look at http://www.defera.org. There is a lot there already and a lot more needs to be filled in still.

Now we are looking for like-minded people that want to help us develop the Deferi further, to help invent more Deferi Lore, to help convince people to become Deferi, and most importantly, to help us spread the Balance throughout the Universe.

If you want to help, please contact rauno@hydaspes in-game, or contact us through http://www.defera.org or directly, government@defera.org, and we'll invite you.

And if you don't like Deferi, all I can say is that that is not very balanced.

Nice start. Good luck in your endeavors. Defera definitely needs at least basic services

Seeing as that I am already a Deferi and a member of the Defera Starfleet, I shouldn't really reply. I just want to say the Deferi are a really cool race, and definitely a good race to belong to if you like to meet friendly players who treat each other with respect and are broad minded and tolerant. We are a very balanced group!

    Thanks Rauno for starting this.

The Defera visitor center definitely needs an exchange, bank, mail, vendors, tailor, some (deferi) doff missions. It's a really beautiful place, but there is no reason at all to be there, except for one mission. That's a shame. It would be a really cool place to hang out, and there is little else in the Orellius Sector Block, so....

And definitely there need to be more Deferi too!:D

    Good luck, I'm with you!

    Thanks all.

We hope to petition Cryptic for an enhanced Defera once we have a substantial amount of Deferi. That will help.

But also I'm making a Foundy mission now with a proposed enhanced Defera. I'm going to publish it with the request that if someone wants Defera enhanced/developed, they should give it 5 stars (regardless of the quality of the design). That way it will stay in the top and send a clear message to Cryptic about how many people would appreciate these changes. Instead of a mission it will be a petition. It might work.........or not.....

I tried making some costume challenge thingies earlier, planned on hitting Deferi in the second one, but the first one featuring Remans got only 1 reply, and that wasn't a valid entry :(

Edit: Could you tell me how to build one? :D

This link leads you directly to the recipe on how to make Deferi. Mind you, ideally the name is also correct (there are examples of names there too).

    http://www.defera.org/becoming-deferi.html

Please let us know how it turned out. A good Deferi can be registered in the Defera Citizen Registry, regardles whether you are a fleet member or not. We like to keep track of all Deferi out there.

If it were an STOWiki link, I'd go to it. But since it isn't, I'll be a bit more specific and ask for the 'recipe' :P

This is a pretty cool idea. I may make one of my boffs a Deferi, since I currently have a nobody betazed called Bob who is there purely for numbers, and not a character. I could have fun with a Deferi.

The recipe is not simple, it takes quite a detailed instruction, all kinds of Deferi examples, etc., and that's on our website, which is basically the Deferi Wiki (sort of). Besides, there is more to being Deferi than just the looks, the culture is the most important.

It's all too much to share with you in a forum. That's why we invested in a large website.

So if you do not want to visit http://www.defera.org then I am at the end of what I can offer. :-(

I wish you balance in your ponderings on this and I am always happy to help.

A Deferi boff is also very good for the balance on your bridge!

How very helpful. The STO wiki has instructions on how to make a Jem'Hadar that are better than what you're telling me.

The instructions on how to make a deferi character are at the link already provided.
The fact that you won't follow that link unless it's an STO wiki link is why you feel like you have been given no help. Options to choose and sliders to set are all waiting at that link, as well as a wealth of other cool Deferi information.

I followed the link and found an awesome page that was indeed very helpful.
Since you don't want to follow the link already provided ...

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+create+a+deferi+in+STO+alien+creator+%3F

The 3rd result of that Google Search also gives a pretty solid Deferi making 'recipe'.

The links already provided have exactly the instructions you are looking for. It's more than "a couple of lines."

As they are already posted in very easy to find locations, (links already provided above) there is no reason to post instructions again here.

I'm fond of the Deferi, I think they'd make an excellent addition to a new TV series.

I had a Deferi BOff once, they're difficult to get right.

You have taste, nrobbiec, maybe you should be deferi too! You are more than welcome!

Your boff was nice, distinctive, only the nose is wrong, should be jem'hadar. Female eyes are not slit but human (but males are), and it looks like she has saurian skin, which also is only a male trait. Also she misses the kobali head pattern. So, if she was a male, apart from the nose and pattern, she'd be spot on. It took us ages to get it right...walking around from the tailor to defera and back endlessly. But the recipe on the website is good.

I completely agree with you on Deferi in new TV series, I hope it will happen one day soon.

Thank you :) I'm fairly sure I used the Jem'Hadar nose (I could be wrong) I can't remember what the other features I used were.

Yeah I took a little liberty with the eyes, I preferred them slit.

I may have a crack at re-doing that pic, I also plan on having other Deferi in my fanseries so this isn't the end for me :P

I plan on whenever I can be bothered (taking a break from STO so I don't become tired of it) making another alt, I'm torn between Deferi or Xindi-Primate so I may join the bandwagon.

Zen fish people? I will let you know, sir, that we have little Zen to spare (as we have no monetary economy) and even fewer fish (but plenty of Deferi Snowtubers).

May the balance be with you.

Deferi are humanoid, it's a bit racist to call us fish-people because of the color/texture of our skins...but it is the balanced thing to forgive and not dwell on it.

By the way, how did you get past the fact that Deferi female characters use the Kreetassen head addon thingies? I do see some sort of difference between Deferi females and briitta's picture, but I can't quite make it out... Also, John, I remember when I created my Cardassian and Romulan costumes, and I can assure you that it IS only a few lines per gender (unless you go around and give me 3 billion variations). After all, what's a dozen or so lines for the expansion of balance? ;)

    Hi Dalolorn,

There is really a lot of info on the Deferi, not just a few lines (depending on how accurate you want to be in creating one). This month we had more than 4000 hits on the website, so a lot of people do simply look. You are the only one I have encountered that does not want to look.

It's not my business to ask why looking on a (non-wiki) website is a problem for you, I respect that, as is the balanced way, but I hope you respect that after all the work we put in building a website for this, we are not going to spend a lot of time typing things out doubly while it is a mouse-click away. I am very sorry about that, I hope you understand and that we can be balanced in respecting each others arguments.

It just is as it is. It is not about right or wrong. All those angry emoticons are just not good for balance. I hope we can keep it friendly.

Ok then, I'll check the STO wiki for the longest guide and come back to tell you how long it was :P

Edit: Hmmm. Seems it ranges from a dozen to 3 dozen. Still, how hard can it be? :(

    For crying out loud Dalogorn,

What is your problem? Why don't you just give up?

The man is saying: look at a website! Millions of people do that every day. Yet you can't.

Why is that? Did your parents put a parental lock on your internet browser so you can't visit anything but the STO wiki because you always looked at naughty websites? It probably explains why you have nothing better to do than to irritate people here.

Look, one day you'll be 18 y.o. and then you can look at all the websites you want. And now you have to accept that your parents have the right to limit that. It is not our problem, it's yours. So just leave the whining at the door.

First of all, it's not dalogorn. Second, I've been taught not to go to random websites. That's why I go strictly to forums related to the games I'm interested in, the STO wiki, the Stargate wiki, YouTube, and Memory Alpha. If I find another website I trust, I go to it. But I do not go to websites mentioned by other people in any way. Period.
