@PWEBRANFLAKES: I would like there to be a way to report news article comments (with a click, rather than filing a ticket).
Some inappropriate words showing up today (words that would probably flag me here if I quoted). Clicking through nested menus and an irrelevant Knowledge Base category, to find a web form that isn't formatted for linking a user comment that has no post anchor is......not worth my time.
Requesting this feature apparently is. ;)

I could never be a moderator. I'd enjoy the banhammer too much. :D Gotta settle for kickin' foo's from fleets.

I purchased the Odyssey Bundle awhile back. I was entirely unimpressed and really felt like I had wasted my money. Its the one purchase i've made (among dozens) that I wish I could return. On the bright side, the bridge for those ships was amazing, best bridge in the game, I wish they'd make more unique bridges for Zen Store ships.

Also while I am thinking about it, being a flagship, there shouldn't be 10,000 of them floating in space.... How can it be a representative flagship when they are everywhere. You can't be a significant representative without some uniqueness and exceptionalism. The exceptionalism goes away when they are made in mass.

The Enterprise is the flagship. The Odyssey class is the flagship class ship.

Calling the Ody the flagship is a little misleading.

Lower the price and I might buy one.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts! I got the Ody's at the last sale but I will wait until the next to consider the Bortas. Hurry up and put out the Vesta if you want more of my money! :D

i hope, one day, the odyssey will get another outfit for the ugly deflector - only reason why i am not using this ship which could have been beautiful.
    What ? Calaway.

    to the people blaming flakes:

dont you see that PWE is sitting behind him? They say "oh, we can still get more $$$ out of the STO players with these odyseey" and then bryan has to do a post. i guess he himself thinks that this is stupid but he wouldnt tell us because that would cost him his job. end of drama
    What ? Calaway.

Might want to have marketing talk with the design team about making the consoles less terrible than they are.

If there were ships that are crying out for a 10th console slot fleet version, it is the flagships. The three consoles together eat way too much space for little good effect. These ships are fair in normal STFs, and are weak on elite, and in fleet actions. Actually, everything that is not an escort, a carrier, or carrier/escort needs help. Maybe less so on the KDF side, but definitely on the Federation side.

Sry Mate, bis this is completely non-sense. Federation has some pretty strong Cruiser that need for sure no help with anything.

I'll fly a Galor Class myself, 2x Beam Overload; High Yield 2 & 3 - against unshielded Enemies I deal more Damage than some Escorts. The Excelsior has a Lt.C. Tac that provides nearly the same fire power and a Galaxy X is a devastating Weapon, if you know what you are doing.

I've never flown an Oddy myself (except the ****ty free One) but if I take a look at their Stats, they are great Ships for Engs. The Universal Lt.C provides you a lot of firepower or Heals, this way you can easily swap between a Tank that threats the Enemies so the Escorts can take them out, or a "Heavy Fortress" that could nearly destroy every enemy itself. I'm an Eng. since I started playing six Months ago, maybe its my Experience, the Oddy look great imo. Or at least it Stats. I would just never fly one because this thing is ugly as hell.

Ummm. Galor is not Federation. Neither is D'Kora. They are the best cruisers in the game though.

Seriously, I like Excelsior, but it needs a lot more hull. The Galaxy X is ok as long as moving is not required. I never got much love from the lance. I enjoyed Excelsior up to the point where I started running STFs, and Galaxy X (Plus Odyssey & BortasQ) up until I started doing elite. I believe it takes special skill and and building to make these ships work. If they aren't from a lock box, cruisers are difficult to love on elite, and fleet content.

I can make cruisers dance on elite, but to do so for the flagships ... I dumped almost all of those frilly silly consoles which were too under powered to justify their continued use.

I run cruisers on both sides of the zone. ... and the fleet cruisers are fun on both sides as well.

If the Excelsior need more hull, how can the Galor be a good Ship? Both Ships have a basic Hull of 39k and ~51k with full Skill on Hull Strengh. Their Boff abilities are nearly the same... these Ships are equal.
You sound like you just have no Idea what to do with a Cruiser - no offense - maybe you are good with an Escort, but that doesnt mean every other Class sucks :P

I suck at playing as a Sci, but I've seen some pretty badass Sci-Ships though, like I've seen Rainbow-Noob Escorts. It is not the Ship that makes the difference, its the Player. :P#

Oh, and off course I know that the Galor and the D'Kora are no Fed Ships, but the avaible Equipment is depending on your Faction and the M.A.C.O. Shields + the three Borg Parts can turn every Cruiser in a Fortress^^

Maybe you're right. I think I will move my Ferengi over to an Excelsior with what he's running, and test that out. If nothing else, it might prove that disruptors are a big part of the dps equation.

Well... except for that dual heavy cannons part.

The Ody is an ok ship, whether it worth the price or not...that is debatable.

I am a TAC officer and fly escorts most of the time...but when I am in a lazy mood and need a change of pace, I will use my TAC Ody. It is a different mindset using this ship. I basically fly circles around whatever needs protecting and tank. I use it as a Beam Boat with Tetryon arrays (I would luv to put Phased Tetryon arrays on it but they are expensive on Exchange :o ) and just blow down the shields of whoever comes in range. I even throw heals from it even though I am a TAC guy. The other thing I do, when the Battleships and Siege Dreadsnoughts arrive, I go toe to toe with them and use Eject Plasma so the Escorts in the team can light them up as they sit there stuck.

I know some folks put the RCS consoles on it to make it turn better, but my attitude is who cares... use the consoles that beef up shields, hull repair, and weapon power and just blast away with the beam arrays. You would be surprised what simple weapon batteries will do and Beam Overload.

Again, I am not saying the Ody is a DPS machine by any means (I have two escorts that get a ton of attention from the NPC ships b/c of their DPS).... but if you build and play it right, it is very hard to blow up and it is very steady at beating on whoever is range.

I personally consider them the among the worst ships in the game.....

I have to agree. Only reason to buy these ships is possibly for the consoles. I can't see any other valid reason. $20 a console?? like someone else said, I'd prefer to buy bread and milk.

These ships were designed by a cryptic fanboy... enough said!

And seriously, how is this even news???

Soon as I hit lv 50. I will consider the Odyssey. Its decent, and the looks grows on you. Just right now I just don't see me buying it. Since I'm not of level yet. And way I play the game, it will be a while before I do get to that level. Mainly due to my life, work, and I'm taking my time with the game. I found out the slower to get leveled makes it more enjoyable since i'm not rushed.
