113 boxes opened, no ships, no awesome consoles. Just boosters, a few DOFF packs, and around 4 Lobi each. So much for Cryptic's 'new era of understanding.'
I have been a subscriber since day one. I have 0 of the vanity ships despite spending well over $200 on keys. I played the Jem'Hadar, Cardassian, and Ferengi game. I refuse to play the Tholian game. I refuse to develop a gambling addiction. I also have yet to put together 1 set of Mk XII STF items despite ~1,200 runs between my 14 characters.
It is chance. You could easily open 1000 Lockboxes and not get anything
You'd get enough Lobi for at least 5 Recluse Carriers. Which are in higher demand right now than the normal lockbox ship judging by exchange prices. But your point is essentially correct of course. Same story as Mk XII drops in STFs and so on. Chance is chance.
Only good box I opened had the Ship Consoles, and when I went to move it in my bank, it opened up without double clicking on it. (Another S6 wonderful bug.)
STFs aren't any better, after 8 months I finally completed 1 MK12 set, but still have to grind through 11 more sets for my 6 characters. Which I no longer have time now due to stupid Fleet Mark grinding for my fleet.
I think I've opened up a grand total of 10 since the first one was introduced and all of those were paid via stipend. No ships, but I did get enough to buy a whip.

[Sarcasm] I've had horrible luck! 10 boxes opened and 11 Orb Weavers gotten out of them! But not ONE single DOFF pack! Not to mention the 9,000 lobi the toon has. [/Sarcasm]
But really though, I've had decent unlocks. Got the usual junk, plus my lobi, I did get a free console and an MU ship though.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Thanks for supporting the game. We appreciate your $$.
I finally broke down and tried opening two of the Tholian boxes, because I've heard good things about them. I got some marginally useful stuff, nothing Tholian related. I won't be doing that any more. I'd rather spend my zen on stuff I know I'll like.

1k Lockboxes minimum is 5 recluses. But if u open 1k lockboxes u have a gambling addiction OR you make $250,000 a week... (Doubtful)
Did not realise a master key cost 250 USD. Isn' that rather 2.5 USD ? that way, had spent 2500 USD what is till a lot, but possible.
Or perhaps he's a billionaire in EC, what isn't entirely impossible, either.

spending well over $200 on keys. I refuse to develop a gambling addiction.
...you sound well on your way. :P
I have bought a few keys ONLY with EC [seeing as EC is kinda useless anyway]. Got DOFF packs, lobi crystals and 'supplies' packs. Nothing special. But I havent spent any Zen on them so im not too fussed.

Well, her's the deal. Luck is only luck, when you do not expect it.
If you expect it, and it happens, that is not luck. That's just the normal for our psyche, and when we do expect it and it does not happen, that we call bad luck.
Basicly, opening lockboxes, or running STFs having higher expectations that the well known low drop rates, is bad luck. Doing the same without having any expectation, other than the fun of the game, or the normal rewards (dilithium, EDC, Lobi, duty officer) is the right thing to do. That makes luck possible. If you have no expectations, and you get a special reward, that's worthy of the name, luck.
So, if you open lockboxes for the special rare items they should drop, you should know, and accept the fact that it might never happen. But no, you do it expecting it to happen every time. No wonder you are all unlucky and frustrated. So, the real opposition here is not betwen PWE-Cryptic and the gamer. It is that between your false hope, and reality. Having false hopes is the way towards unhappiness. Really, you can't blame anyone else, but yourself.

I opened one Tholian box and got a Phased Tet VR MK XII gun. Its kinda cool.
But really, I got both Fed Mirror ships, all 6 Tholian Doffs, & ship Console off the exchange. I even picked up a Tholian Widow fighter off the exchange for 13 Mil EC.
Most of the stuff is avilable on the exchange for decent prices, not sure the reason to even open the boxes unless you want the Lobi or Orb Weaver.
My lucks been great so far, every single lockbox went out the airlock easy as could be.
Mine all get stored in one of my alts' banks. I have upwards of 200 hundred various types of boxes. I have only ever opened one and that was with a key that I bought off the Exchange and all I got was food. 800,000 EC for food.... That was enough for me to never give these boxes a second thought at buying more keys. I surely will not spend Z-points on them. Maybe if the EC price for the keys dropped down to ~200,000 EC, I might buy some then off the exchange. Right now though, people are selling them for upwards of 1,800,000 EC or more and the 125 Zen price-tag is just as ridiculous, in my opinion.
I'd much rather pay 1000-1500 Zen for an account-wide ship unlock. Don't even get me started on the EC price people are charging for the Ferengi ship... 75,000,000+.... seriously? Thanks for fueling greed and over-priced ships PWE.

Please give me one thousand dollars. Don't expect anything to happen, otherwise you have no one to blame but yourself.
No? Well I suppose if you give someone your money you should expect something in return.
Always always assume you will lose when you gamble.
Always.
If cryptic doesn't want to sell the ship to you for 60$ then they will try to make more money out of i this way.
Meaning: over all the people in the game they want more than 60$.
And I now believe that these Lockboxes have nothing to do with CBS and everything to do with money.
Else why not let the kdf faction buy them directly with zen?
Haven't tried opening any Tholian boxes yet. I can say that the few Cardy/Ferengi boxes I did open didn't deliver much I actually wanted and I've been underwhelmed with their value.
I'm willing to roll the dice a couple of times to see what happens, but trying to play the odds by spending till you win is plain foolish.
I had better luck with the Gamma Quadrant Doff's that came with Lobi, to tell the truth. I wish every Doff pack came with Lobi and a chance to win a ship or something; I'd probably buy more of them.
I am keeping a few old lockboxes around in my Account Bank, in case they ever get rare enough to have value on the Exchange or in case I get a wild urge and money to spare. But most of them I get go out the airlock.

Worse than I'd like, but since they threw out all the TRIBBLE we used to get in lock boxes. Hard to argue with Fleet credit boosters and mini DOff packs.
I opened 15 boxes or so. Bought the keys with EC since I have lots of those, made back maybe 20-25% of their cost by reselling what I got from the boxes. I ended up buying a Recluse Carrier off the exchange since that was what I really wanted anyway and it was probably cheaper than opening enough boxes to get the Lobi for it myself.
I have opened about maybe 40 boxes. I have the recluse from the lobi. 7 mirror ships 5 tholian doffs 15 regular doffpacks and roughly 10 weapons pack. Also a ton of boosters. I thought i was regular lucky but now i feel super lucky.
Edit: also three consoles. But no orb weaver.
well my luck in stfs has been reasonable. lock boxes i tried to avoid buying loads. as it is gambling. but i got some keys with my monthly points. all i can say is. all previous lockboxes and special doff pack namely the gamma quadrant 1 i had waaaay better luck with. vs this 'new understanding' lockboxes wich was meant to sound more like a treasure chest with all the items you can get. well all i can is all got a steaming pile of $h!t in them and 4 lobi in each..... can't say i was best pleased with my very basic doff packs far too many commons and a green....bartender. which is always useful.

Then I put the rest of the keys on the exchange and made about 10 mil. I think that's the best thing you can do with the things.

my last 12 produced mk 12 consoles all green
put in purple doffs into officer exchange... got a green
playing stf on a regular basis since they were released. Yet to get a mk 12 item...
I hear ya. I have 14 characters and have made ~1,200 runs between them all. I have a few of the items but I've yet to put together a set.
