My game Launcher will not start.
I've had some issues on my computer recently and had to reinstall everything, Star trek Online was one of the first programs I reinstalled, it has run the game before on the previous version of Windows.
After installing the game and updating for the first time my game crashed. Then after trying to restart the launcher it will come up the usual window saying the launcher is autoupdating.
After it has "finished" it disappears and does not open the launcher proper, however it will run in the Processes after CTRL+ALT+DELETEing.
I have tried: Reinstalling, Adding Admin, Removing Admin, Checking Bitdefender Firewall (and reinstalling), trying different compatability modes.
Has anyone else had this issue?
How long have you left it after it closes after auto-updating while still in task manager? Sometimes it can take a minute or two to pop up. Maybe your just killing it straight away after you see its not doing something quickly?
Have you tried turning Bitdefender firewall off (not just configure it to allow STO to connect)? When I have issues with the launcher (as you describe) disabling my firewall/security settings usually clears the issue. I can usually reenable by settings after the game has successfully launched.
You might also try updating to the latest windows explorer browser (and look at the internet security settings in it too), as I think the launcher utilizes it in some fashion.
I tried reinstalling bitdefender, during the time it wasn't on the computer, that didn't help at all.
I have let it run for up to an hour so it's not just impatience.
Thank you for the attempt however.
that there last patch broke something. because I keep seeing so many people upset that they can not connect. I can't even submit a report- that too crashed after about the fifth time.
