Like everyone else said - Art guys - awesome job! Was hoping these would be available at some point.

Marketing guys - wtf? There are account wide ships available for less, which have more value to me than an item with mediocre stats. (Including newer ships that haven't depreciated in value yet like those that have been available for some time)

I'm not one to usually comment on this stuff, since I know the company needs to make money this way, but PWE is not doing themselves a service with this absurd price point on a per-character basis. (meh...maybe they are, LOL, would be interesting to see the purchase metrics)

    tl;dr?

No thanks, adjust price and/or account wide unlock (both factions), and I'll reconsider.

Yeah, for anything over 500, it needs to be account wide.

Meowz, I usually buy everything and I'm really a TNG era fan, and I really feel sawwy for the one who has created these purrcious thingies, butt ... I will pass on this one, because I stand with the crew here. Together we are strung, and together we can move meowntains. Purrfect World needs to learn a certain attit00d towards the players of their gamez. I will purrbly buy one off the exchange with EC, butt I oppose characterwide in opposite to ac****wide unlocks in the highest. And the price is too muchies. :(

I find it highly amusing that there were a couple of posts that had the ridiculous thought that I'm some sort of Cryptic/PWE plant or super secret employee bringing something actually nice to say to the topic. I think the fact that your minds can't wrap around the fact that someone out there on the intrawebs might not actually have an issue with it or at least does not subscribed to your hive mind and this is the only way you can justify it is, again, hilarious. Sorry people, but that's a little too much of a facebook/Chic-Fil-A rationale.

So let us get this straight, I am a huge Star Trek fan. I grew up on it and have watched every incarnation except Enterprise (I've only seen a few episodes of that). I am also, for the record, UNEMPLOYED. Meaning that no one, including Cryptic/PWE has me as an employee at this time. Some people with their conspiracy theories may still have a small seed of doubt in their mind regarding this because the thought pattern is usually "well, he has to deny it, it's his job". Let me rip that seed out of the ground and stomp on it.

I have been here since the game went free to play and I enjoy the hell out of it. Yes it has it's bugs and it's quirks and can sometimes (very rarely for me) be annoying. However, I play this game to have fun and relax *gasp*. I don't take it as serious as the most of you do. I just log in, blow some things up, make up character stories for the why's and how's of some missions and log off. Sometimes I even log in to blow off some steam. It's a nice release for me in a genre that I adore. OH and it's free to play. Coming in as a new player was interesting because while I enjoyed the game coming to the forums and reading some of the chat all I heard was a lot of people (note I didn't say all) B**ching and Whining EVERY DAY about something cryptic did or didn't do or that PWE is doing and BLAH BLAH BLAH. Seriously, there should be a replicator only dedicated to cheeses because of all the whine! So much hate that to my thought process would make any newbie balk at going forward. I rarely if ever let other peoples thoughts and rants dissuade me from things I want to do, so I moved on and *gasp* had fun playing. I am the type of person that keeps things in perspective. My perspective thus far is this:

This is not my sandbox. I am allowed to be in here by the graces of Cryptic/PWE (and so are you). PWE runs the show and tells Cryptic what to do. They DELEGATE their wants for what works in their business model. Cryptic carries out their orders like good soldiers. Cryptic does what they can within the boundaries that have been put upon them by PWE and CBS and whomever else they have to answer to. They give us the fans what they can at the time given and -when- they can. They do what they can with the resources they have. Resources that have recently grown according to some of the interviews recently. With the new employees coming in and those that are leaving or have left, I'm sure there is going to be a new acclimation period that they are going to have to go through and that will take time. There will also be trial and error as with ANY game out there. Sometimes it happens a lot, sometimes only a little. There will be things that go wrong because that is life. Will I let it get to me? Nope. If I feel the need to voice it, I will. But that is where it will end because I have other things to do than Nerd Rage all over the boards and the chats because I feel I have some imagined sense of importance or ownership or stake in this game. I don't. I just go with the flow and let the rest roll off my back. Log in, play, log out. If it all crashed and burned tomorrow, I would just walk away and remember the fun I had.

With that said, I had an extra twenty dollars last week (or maybe it was this week) and I bought some Zen, because I'll support the game if I have the extra cash. This place aint run for free ya know? It's actually a business! I bought some keys for the new lockboxes. I bought a Delta Flyer for use in the Vault. With the left over money I got the new suit. Cryptic/PWE already had my money days prior and so I decided to where to allocate the Zen funds. It was no big deal and it made me happy to do so on the one character account that I have. And it's all about my happiness after all.

Clearly a Cryptic/PWE employee wouldn't have stated anything like the above, lest they be a -former- Cryptic/PWE employee. You know...jobless.

Its cool to see someone who actually picked up the suit. I'm of the same mind that Cryptic needs to make money to keep the lights on and keep the game I like so much running. So I have no problem with people giving money to Cryptic.

I think its the fear of single toon and not redeemable again unlocks that also scares people about this and its not just the higher then usual price.

F2P STO is still kinda new and most I think are still seeing where Cryptic is gonig with all of this. Cryptic will have the metrics to see how this item made more/less money for them then the other costume packs and ships. And that's what will really make their future decisions.

I normally will buy anything, even if I'm not that interested I'll probably pick it up.

but I'm not buying this, which pains me as I really wanted it. The artists did a good job and I feel a little sorry for him that people are turned away by someone elses bad decision.

Maybe I'll get one on the exchange if I manage to scrape together the EC but I'm not impressed with the pricing for a per character item.

This sums up my thoughts! Reading through this thread. I have to say, it's about time everyone finally took a stand against this price gouging TRIBBLE and per toon purchases!

Good; enjoy your time and your money how you see fit. I don't think anyone here would debate that you have the right to do as you will.

However, I find it funny that you describe those of us saying "no" to this ridiculous pricing and blatent slap-in-the-face by PWE as the "hive mind." That is generally reserved for the flocks of sheep and mobs of lemmings who go, "OOOH SHIIIINY!" and drop cash on a whim.

I think our point is this: we (the aforementioned "hive mind," in your words) seem to all pay for certain items, but THIS one is too much for too little - and is, quite simply, an insult to the players who DO support STO monetarily as well as by creating the fan/player base.

Lastly, this is a hobby to a great many folks. As such, they DO have stake in the game, its play, and its outcome, and have every right to state their feelings, insights, and suggestions here - that's why these forums exist. Not deluded enough to think the Devs read every entry (especially ones that need a publisher and/or a page count...), but I know they do pay some attention to things said herein.

Incidentally, when they start selling bridges with players' names on them in the Z-store, well, I hope you enjoy that one, too...

That would be awesome. What about adding this option to the current EV suit offering? Might take SOME of the bad taste out of everyone's mouth from this fiasco.

    QFT.

Back to the discussion at hand, yeah, 700 Zen is too expensive, after all, even the weapon pack is almost a Quarter of that. If it were the same price as the weapon pack, or redonkculously good stats to warrant the massive price tag, it would have sold much better. Why? Cause then I would have bought one. Not at the moment however.

The KDF one in particular is very... pretty, if it was maybe 150 or so Zzz points (max), I could see myself getting one at some point.

My Z come from either stipend (ie, my salary) or ingame Dil conversion (my free time). Either way, I consider carefully before I part with any and 700 for what basically amounts to one cosmetic item on one character does not, in my opinion, give value for money.

If that's your way of expressing individuality, then more power to you...

Of course, it's kind of like those folks who, in response to the majority claim that SUVs suck up a lot of gas and have diminishing returns, ran out to buy them anyway, JUST because so many opposed them...

Those SUV owners are generally walking...or trading in for fuel-efficient vehicles nowadays.

    Good luck to you!

Smart Asses? Lifeless Grinders? Actually I was referring to the fact that I get gift cards from my employer, that I cash in on zen cards. Not much else I buy at these stores... How typical though, attack the person who earns more and wants to use it.
