What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

well done, youve screwed the pooch!

there i was, getting a bit excited to come back to STO and see how it is again when... its a failure before it began. The game doesn't work for me and there's no reason it shouldn't. server keeps timing out, ridiculous load times and when i can get into my toon, nothing works, cant fly cant chat cant even reset my points. i can spin on the spot wonderfully but the rest is FUBAR'ed

have made numerous emails and gone through every help topic but there was lack of said help anywhere to be seen.

so it is with a heavy heart and disdain that i uninstall it and wonder off agian. too bad, would have liked to play it again.

tis for shame that is so ****ed up.

done everything possible, and then some, removed my current graphiocs card, put in a later model one, resinstalled a dozen tiumes, update this update that, run it in different modes. all fo nought :( even had a 2 and a half hour chat with my isp and tracked every little bit of info to and from and to no avail. it really does suck monkey balls, well wanted to play again.

only option left is to rebuild my 5 year old pc from scratch and use that and see if it works on that. not the ideal situation though, rebuilding a pc just to play this but... thats all thats left :(

What Operating System are you using? A few of my fleetmates tell me they get some technical issues by running on Windows 7 x64.

Have you tried posting in the PC and Technical Issues sub forum @ http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70.

There are knowledgeable folks who frequent that section who may be able to offer you good advice.

i would look into your internet or connection first..
if its timing out and you're jumping all over the place it is probably due to dropped packets.

maybe you need a new router, or cat5 cable..

ill keep trying for sure, just so very frustrating is all. running windows 7 64 and i read up on p[eople having problems with that and ran it in windows xp mode, all service packs and what not, to the same result.
it could be just the fact im in oz on a us server?? i doubt it since alot of the main mmo's have us serves and i do just fine, i will take the advice of you fellows and continue to address the situation, really do want to play again :P

That's the sign of a bad connection. It's not getting the required data from the servers.

First guess that comes to mind is ports blocked.

Can you provide the results to the two tests in this sticky please:

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

Especially the second one as that's checking connections via the ports.

Also please make sure in Windows Firewall that the game has access to the net.

Looks like something's scrambled in the game itself.

Have you done a force verify from the launcher? (Options - check "force verify")

When you did the uninstall, did you also hunt down the folder and delete it? (sometimes remnants remain).

    {eta, also what MikeWendell said}

yeah did a full wipe and tracked down all the associated files. i shall indeed perform these tasks that you speak of, the firewall and ports issue though is fine, made sure they were all clear.

I play from Tassie with no probs what so ever...

When you spoke to your isp, did you run through a hop test with them?... if not do so and hit the sto servers if its taking more than say 20 hops its your isp.

If its not your isp do a dxdiag and give it to support.

DO NOT POST A DXDIAG ON PUBLIC FOUMS!!! they contain sensitive pc info that naughty people can use to get into your system so as above do not post it here just give it to support.

Yes, me too. Those numbers are very low. Normally would be 100x at least.

You're not running anything else? Um like torrents or file traders, are you? *cough*

I know one of the public networks I use have those ports completely blocked as they feel that those ports are only used for file trading. I was kind of hoping for a complete block. I;m wondering if that's rate limiting done by your ISP.

nothing else being run... unfortunately :(
as for rate limiting by the isp, i doubt it. its the same isp i had when i was playing the gamne on release and nothing has changed. well i presume nothing.

only other thing i can think of that has changed IS the new modem/router. will have to test out the old one and see.

well its posted so now to just wait and try a myriad of things over again and then hopefully one day it will just work!
    heres hoping anyhoo :)

Well, it not bogging down until hop #8 means that it's likely not your local modem/router, however -- the odd results for nettest (high pings only on internet ports), have you done a spyware scan?

    I suggest Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html

    Good luck.

The bog-down is starting in Malaysia. It's could be a faulty transfer router there causing issues between Australia and China - and that's creating a backup behind it. It's also possible your ISP is now using a different transfer route then it was the last time you played - meaning it's intentionally forcing you through the poor router in Malaysia.

Either way I'd file a bug report with Cryptic and contact the ISP to see if they've changed routing recently. I'd also do some virus/spy-bot scans to see what's bogging down your system.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
