One Time Account Verification Code

xiphilinusxiphilinus Member Posts: 3 Arc User
I have a problem. The email I used for this account no longer exists, therefore when I send an email to that address it goes into oblivion. As a result I can not change my email one this account which result in the inability of me getting this One Time Account Verification Code. My current address is the same name but at Gmail.com. Cause I've discovered how much hotmail.com sucks.

Ok, I just had the same issue: my email no longer existed and you know the rest... oblivion. However I do have a solution for you it worked for me.

First go to "My Account" check to see what email your linked to.

Once you got that, copy your email address and go to whichever site you created your email.

Then you create a brand new account on that site.

This is the important part: past the email from "My Account" when you are creating the new email.

Trust me this trick works, I too had the same issue with my email address.

    Hope this works :)

That is a nice trick, and I bet it would have worked somewhere besides msn. But when attempting this trick I get this lovely message.
This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address.
So I still have the problem and it seems I have no way of accessing my account. Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate it.

Your going to love this. You don't need to have an account code to change your e-mail address. If you go to the main STO page, log in, and then click My Account at the top of the page, there is an option to change your e-mail address without verification.

Because Cryptic decided to opt everyone in, they had to leave a way to fix the very problem you are describing. Therefore, they made this feature utterly useless in protecting anything. In fact, it actually helps account theifs. Now if someone gets access to your long deleted e-mail account, or they hack into the one you have notifications sent to, they can permanently steal your account away by changing it to their e-mail, locking you out and gaining all your information and there is nothing you can do about it. Forget simply emptying your bank account, now they have a way to take your characters for their own.

Amazing! You would be best to disable this thing on your account as fast as possible.

You still need access to the old email for the "change email" feature to work as it sends a verification email to the old email address. I'm not sure where you got the idea that it doesn't do that.

I wonder where those e-mails go? While this whole mess is annoying, I rather hate Hotmail, for having a clause that enables them to delete your email if you don't access it in a 90 day period at their liberty without notifying me.

If unanswered, it will re-send every time you log into the game iirc. Check your spam?

Shouldn't that be every time you try to login, because without the code you can't login. Anyway I have tried it several times and I did not receive any code. The email adress is fine, I just received some promotional mails about season 6.

So I am stuck with an inactive account for a couple of days already. The game is free to play and I have a second account, but how much would you think I will spend in the store now and in the near future?

I'm having this problem as well.

The email that is linked doesn't exist.
I got emails about season 6 through my gmail account but it's not linked to my STO account.

I have also sent in a ticket to try and get it changed, but that was 3 days ago and still no reply.

Well, my email that is linked to the account is fine. Today I changed my password and back, which was no problem. When you change your password an email is sent to your email adress.

There is just a problem with sending out the verification code messages.

I have been trying to get on STO for ages, I checked every folder I possibly could and no e-mail code! I sent a problem report to the technical team but haven't heard back from them in days and I really don't want to create a new account because i'll have to start from the beginning! How long ago did this account verification thing happen?

PWE/Cryptic should get their act together. I started playing in january when the game went FtP. I spend perhaps more than a 100 EUR on this game, character slots, inventory space, ships, shuttles, etc. I have no problem with that. I have fun with the game, a like it a lot and I do not mind spending some money on it. If they bring out cool stuff that I like, I will probably buy it.

However, thanks to the whole security guard situation I have no access to my account with all the cool stuff I bought.

Now here is a funny situation. I have a second account. It was an old PWE account that I made long time ago to try one of their games. So when PWE accounts and Cryptic account merged, I brought it back to life to play STO. It was meant as a sort of mule account for my main account.

Right now it is the only account that I have to play STO. I haven't spend anything on it. So no cool stuff here for me. Yet, the fun I have with the game is as much as the same. This means I certainly won't buy anything from the shop untill my problem is solved, but also, before I will buy anything I will really think about it if I need something.

That is not a good situation for a game that relies for income on a shop.

I really don't think there's anything we can do if the developers doesn't want to do anything bout it.I too spend quiet a sum of money on the game and have recently sent a ticket notifying them on my problem and it's pending. My Hotmail has been ban and there's no way to retrieving it with their outrageous way to backtracking. I honestly want to choose to give up cause there's no solution to way to retrieve the access code if this continues and we're ignored.

I can't play the game either because the one time code never arrives, in addition I can't even start a thread because it says my account is "too new" (I've been a lifetime subscriber since it came out of beta). Since my tickets are being ignored and I'm being denied service, I'm begining to think that the only thing left is some kind of lawsuit, I'm certain there has got to be something under consumer fraud.

Check your spam folders, and what not to see if it's come through as the system works fine.

I just checked it to get access to my account guard settings and it was sent. If you have been able to get it on the website, you can visit https://secure.crypticstudios.com/startrek/account_guard/list and disable it completely though I wouldn't recommend it. The only other option is to contact support either by the link in my signature or via email customerservice@perfectworld.com and they can go from there.

Also, closing this thread as it's months old. If you continue to have this problem then your options are available in the above paragraph. You may also open a new thread to discuss it however as a rule we don't want necro posts from over 30 days ago to pop up. It tends to have misleading information
