In preparation for Season 6 which does have new, cruiser-recommended modes of gameplay, we are creating a "Sacrifice of Angels" style Galaxy Wing purely for fun.

Or maybe not just fun - but an experiment to open one's mind for new possibilities. Many of us already own the 'most powerful' c-store ships money can buy right now. Those who fly the Galaxy R do so not because they are trying to compete for bragging rights, but because they can make that underdog work and work very well in their operating environment.

Starbase defence, freighter escort and No Win scenarios require a cruiser's superior resilience. Why not create the basis for a Galaxy Wing, since there appears to be community interest in doing so?

    Hello and Greetings, Rednecks!

I am Firefox, an Admiral with the Starfleet Temporal Investigation Agency (STIA), and I am in charge of inter-fleet relations. I was wondering if you would be interested in forming an alliance with us for mutual co-operation in PvE/STFs as well as friendly PvP to hone both our fleet's skills.

I have been reading through your thread for a while, and I am very impressed by your approach to the game as well as your approach to your members. Our Agency is just getting underway but growing quickly with a good mix of newer and experienced players.

I invite your members to click on the link below and check us out or just say "Hi!" I look forward to hearing back from you. May your country music continue to annoy the Borg for many years to come!

Thank you for the kind offer.

At this time our fleet is focused on offering basic training to the many new players of STO and are not geared for inter-fleet operations and competitions. In order to remain accessible to new players, we must devote full attention to managing PUG queues and responding to in-game requests for assistance, thus the bulk of our operations are decentralized and so is our timezones, in order to maximize community coverage.

I will however contact you in future when the force is joint-operations qualified or (being a pilot-run organization) when such ventures are desired.

Again I thank you for your time in writing to us your proposal - but at this time we have our own pilots' development to consider, as well as adapting the unit for Season 6 operations by way of our own strategy for training and ship development.

I understand the need to focus on your pilots' development, and again I am very impressed by your dedication to training and supporting those new to STO. I have to admit that some of the things I have learned since starting STO have come from your posts.

Should you happen to desire a friendly PvP session for your pilots to practice in, we at the STIA would be honored to assist. We will bring the beer if you bring the BBQ!

    Good luck in Season Six!

    Hello!

I would like to join the Redneck Academy, if I may.

I have been playing STO for a couple of months now. Having been made aware of your fleet group via the forums, I have researched your group and thought it sounded fun. Besides, I would love to be a redneck in space.

I believe I read where you send folks invites in game if you want them to join.
If so, please send me an invite, if you would like. I promise to be a member in good standing. I am a Commander running a modified Escort right now. Soon to have another ship.

Thanks! I love your YouTube videos, as well.

    Wing Commander's Starbase Construction Log
    Stardate 17072012

Thank you all for attending groundbreaking for Alamo Station last Thursday. In just half a week we're almost ready to activate the Tier 1 shipyard, which, given the tiny size of our fleet, is an outstanding accomplishment.

Now that starbase construction and fleet deployments are well under way, I thought to put the limelight on some brave gentlemen who have boldy led us to where no STO fleet has gone before: -

Hippie@HippieJohn is our strategic operations officer, who like Worf on DS9, is in charge of team deployments and leads task forces into glorious battle. His Vulcan science vessel acts as an AWACS during fleet missions, designating targets for destroyer wings with blue lasers. You won't go wrong following the blue lasers, especially if you're new to team ops.

Voriz@gpgtx is the Starfleet Intelligence operative, who keeps abreast of latest Season 6 developments and recommends strategy to our operations crew. He specializes in cruiser wing operations ala Sacrifice of Angels Galaxy Wings.

Andreas Cruise@son_of_ramon is our FCA attache, who specializes in "Profit and Acquisition" related activities. If you need 1,000 kilotons of provisions for base construction and shanghai 125 colonists for a project, he's your go to man.

And lastly, because we want to allow as many pilots as possible the chance to take up fleet management tasks and to have your own special field of specialty, we're going to re-structure the fleet ranks a bit starting from today.

Don't be alarmed if your rank shifts a bit, you will all have the same or better bank and command authority than before. The purpose of creating more ranks is to allow us to empower more of our pilots with management rights, creating a true NEWBIE-LED organization :)

    Sincerely

    "Whiskey Rose" Carmen
Secretary of Aggression of the Republic of New Texas Navy.

    Wing Commander's log supplemental:

There is no need to be taken aback by the high cost of starbase construction. That's what economies of scale, and corporate management strategies are for.

In our fleet, NEWBIES are project managers by setting goals and expectations. We then conduct a strategic needs analysis, formulate an action plan, and deliver results on target.

I would like to join if you'll have me..

I am thinking that joining a fleet maybe the best thing to get a real feel before I commit max time, max money & max effort into STO. (i'm already loving it but it can't all be about away missions & warping)

Having read your very eloquent post...

I'd be very interested in joining this fleet as well. I'm relatively new to STO, but have acheived the rank of Commander. Looking to maximize my multi-player experience by joining a friendly fleet as well as to learn from some veteran players.

Sure thing, look out for in-game friend requests soon. My weekend 24/7 STO routine starts tomorrow, so there should be no problems finding me.

Last weekend during major deployments, this topic came up from some of our starting pilots: -

What do you spend cash on in STO?

    My answer, nothing.

Here's how you manage Star Trek Online, keep it fun and prevent it from being a major cash sink:-

This message is to inform all - Redneck Academy - pilots that we have started a Klingon fleet. Should you wish to partake in a life of honor, glory and marauding, send me a message and I will reply with an invite.

The KDF side will focus on starbase Engineering ops and can run joint STF missions with Federation pilots.

To make communications between both units easier, I have created a global chat channel named "We are Legion". Both KDF and Federation pilots (and their unfleeted alts) will be able to use the channel to coordinate activities or just chat across factions.

All active Redneck Academy pilots have been invited to this new channel, all you have to do to activate it is right click the top border of your chat window, and navigate to the Channel's directory, and click "Join".

Should we have enough KDF pilots active this weekend we will try to run some fleet operations and share KDF shipbuilding and strategies too. They're vastly different from Federation combat and is definitely worth a try.

    Best Regards
Whiskey Rose / Legatus Catherina Magna
    LEGIO XVI "CARDASSIA"

ps. The KDF fleet depicts a Cardassian-Klingon alliance as in the Mirror Universe counterpart, to set us apart from the run of the mill "Great House" style traditional KDF fleets.

With veteran Rednecks acting as a seaasoned unit by instinct alone, it's no question how the Legion style identity appeared.

KDF pilots are already leading PUG STF and fleet action groups as of now, demonstrating Imperial Cardassian skill at arms and bravery under fire.

Hey Carmeownara, I wanted to e-meow you as well, butt it says you're ignoring me and certainly that can't be since we've always been friends for the time we know each other in-game. ^^

This "ignore" thing is happening throughout the game to various players. I've seen it happen in my previous fleet as well.
