I know what happened to the Enterprise-E

I just picked up STAR TREK THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE #40. There is a very interesting "original fiction" write up called "UNEXPECTED HONOR" by Christine Thompson, whom i believe wrote most of the major plot lines for STO.
Anyways the story reveals what happened to the ENTERPRISE-E ! and has a very awesome conversation between Captain Shon and a certain retired android!

All i can say is WOW. Why isn't this in game? Is this approved by CBS? and if it isn't we NEED it to be!

Has anyone else read this and what do you think? Should this be made cannon? Do you like this explanation?
I personally love it and think this story should be brought into the fold of STO!

    Yeah I read that earlier today also and I think you are right also this actually might be coming in later when they talk more about the New Enterprise remember back during the 2 year anniversary event one of the Dev's posted that they will talk about how the Enterprise-F was commissioned at a later date.

    I hope this becomes cannon it would make a great follow up on how the Enterprise E was decommissioned and the F was commissioned (I will not post what happened in the article so I do not anciently spoil it on someone or on Cryptic if they do place it in the game.)

    I beleive that all stories within STO are accepted by CBS and I would think that the "official magazine" would be also accepted by CBS so I'm hoping that this article gets itself into STO. I think ALL STO players and lovers of the Enterprise legacy have waited 2 years (since The Needs of the Many was published) to long to learn the fate of the last ship named Enterprise.

    The publication of that article was linked to via a STO news bulletin on the main homepage a while ago. I doubt we'll see any ingame representation of any of Kestral's vision until at least Season 7. =(

    Yes i remember the thread about the magazine but i thought this thread could be more specific and draw the attention to this particular article and what it's about. I think this, if it were to become canon, is pretty HUGE in it's effect to fill in a very VERY important piece of Star Trek lore.

    Well see, now we have a problem, there is no more story to STO so we will never know now. :(

    Just picked it up:

    Well, we almost get it spelled out for us. I can deal with that.

    Data made it back. It seems the ship was less fortunate although the extent to which it did or didn't survive remains up in the air.

    Two notes of interest:

    - Data is a professor at OXFORD now? He was a professor at CAMBRIDGE in "All Good Things." In general, most of the references to AGT/Endgame/Challenger/The Visitor have been direct lifts. Geordi has the same kids by the same name. He commands the same Galaxy class ship. This IS a shift. Instead of serving in Isaac Newton's and Stephen Hawking's role, he's at Hawking's first school, one which Hawking has a dismal opinion of:
    The prevailing attitude at Oxford at that time was very anti-work. You were supposed to be brilliant without effort, or accept your limitations and get a fourth-class degree. To work hard to get a better class of degree was regarded as the mark of a grey man - the worst epithet in the Oxford vocabulary.

    As for the ending, I don't see it as a DRAMATIC twist aside from the fact that Data is already in B4's body, which begs the question of whose body is on the table and why he's keeping it such a secret.

    Two options, as I see it, are that he's building B4 a new body to load B4's backup into... Or that he's reassembling Lore with the intent of wiping Lore and putting B4 in. Which is a bit creepy.

    Maybe, but I'm not sure how effective a cannon made out of a magazine would be - Creative though.

    If I were in charge:

    The Enterprise-E gives Starfleet decades of quality service and is retired with great fanfare and placed in the Starfleet museum where tourists, cadets, and history buffs visit regularly to take turns viddying themselves sitting in the captain's chair saying, "Engage" and then giggling.

    Remember, that episode took place in but ONE of the possible futures that Picard experienced. Even though it was only a possibility for his own future, it doesn't mean that the futures of the other characters was set in stone either. We do know that Beverly Crusher becomes the captain of the U.S.S. Pasteur regardless, but perhaps Data had a change of heart as to just what university he wanted to teach at.


    .... Or the writer of the story just forgot to double check. Whatever..


    So what does it say about the Enterprise E? Any more details besides "It may or may not have been destroyed"?

    Yes, I too would like to know what happened to the E. Even if it's just a brief summary of the otucome of it investigating that starbase.

    Well, I'd still suggest getting the magazine but, basically, we know Data wound up on a mission in fluidic space that averted full scale war with the Undine. And that whatever happened to the ship, it went down on the books as a disaster that may have prompted Data to retire from Starfleet and that he was lucky to get the crew home alive.

    I really need to pick up this issue it sounds like a good read.

    Has for the Body that Data is protecting I’m hoping that it is Lore.

    Lore was never destroyed only deactivated and disassembled and it would be huge to have a reoccurring villain like him in STO.

    I hope that Perfect World steps up and pays for the likeness rights of Brent Spiner; however, I imagine Cryptic could still use the character of Lore by changing his appearance in game and adding some kind of back story for the change.

    I’d like to see Lore brought in has the leader of some kind of Android / Artificial Life Extremist group that sees all organic life has inferior and should be made to serve them.

    Lore could be a great floater villain that can be trouble for all factions.

    Lore’s return could go something on the lines of Data was trying to integrate B4’s programing into Lore’s body.

    The integration would seem successful; however, unbeknownst to Data, Lore had a failsafe installed that would reintegrate his programming in the event that it is over written or wiped.

    This article might be just what Cryptic and PWE needs to turn the page and take STO to the next level.

    I whole heatedly agree with this!

    And just to speculate a little I think it is Lore's body and Data is trying to "unlock" B-4 for download into it. It would be just perfect if Data somehow screws up and Lore is once again unleashed on the galaxy.

    And even so if is not a Soong Type Android, why it can not be a new type of Android body with B4 memories?

    All that I said is that we don’t have information to make any conclusion. And I remember this same discussion about the Enterprise E fate. Many people believe that she disappear because we didn’t know what happened after the last reference of the Path to 2409.

    Does anyone know where we can read the story without buying the magazine? It's a shame such an important piece of STO story was created and published with little to no notice to the actual players, and no way for them to read it.

    I think those are supposed to be the ones from a Voyager episode: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Automated_Personnel_Unit As far as where it's established that players can't have Soong type androids, there was a dev post or two way back when. Good luck finding it!

    Never hard anything about this and it seems many others too. Any link / pic of the portion in question?

    Also we were told that the mystery of the Enterprise E will remain that way - a mystery until CBS allows a story for STO.

    Sounds like the Enterprise E completed some kind of mission in Fluidic Space that averted a war with the Undine.

    I believe the Enterprise was lost in the process, though Data managed to save himself and the crew.

    Would be nice to see this ingame someday instead of hidden away in Star Trek Magazine! ;)

    Automated Personnel Unit is just a name, look at the DOFF and any Lal picture and tell me that they are not identical

    We can t PLAY them as captains (they will be too much overpower), but they never said anything about BOFFs. And anyway, like I said, the Androids Boff (call them Maddox android, or what ever you want) can be use as body for the B4 memories. Is more easy to assume that, than the fact that that is using Lore body.

    As I recall, B4 was completely erased from the B4 body as told the the Needs of the Many book. Data's essence was in B4 and was working on a program to permanently delete that essence. B4 found the program and used it on himself seeing that people needed Data more than they needed B4. Could be recalling that wrong. Been a couple of years since reading that.

    well this was a useless topic. saying i know what happened to E-E and not say anything about it, useless. Not everyone has the money to spare to by a magazine to find out.
