Commodity Cheat Sheet

In the beginning, commodities were only needed for Aid the Planet missions. Then came the DOff system. Now with the addition of the fleet system, you might want to know where best to spend your hard earned money. Fear not, fellow captains, I have done the shopping for you!

Originally, all the commodities had 4 prices. From least expensive to most: Special Vendor, Space Trader, Base Price, and Replicator. For the basic and advanced commodities that translates to 50%, 75%, 100% and 150% cost. (For some reason the special commodities are always 100% cost except from the replicator where it's 150%). A patch changed Special Vendors to match Space Traders at 75%, so no more half price. The commodity vendor on the Tuffli freighter matches the Space Trader's prices.

Ferengi Lobes discount gives 20% discount on ground vendors (not space freighters). So buying Med Supplies from Semek on Vulcan costs 60 EC rather than 75, etc. (When I have more free time, I'll integrate those prices into the cheat sheet)

List below is Name Base Cost (special vendor and cost)

Basic Commodities (all available from Fhoss on ESD or Gren on Qo'noS)
Medical Supplies 100 (Semek Vulcan 75)
Provisions 100 (Taryss Andoria 75)
Shield Generators 100 (Fhoss ESD / Gren Qo'Nos 75)
Communication Arrays 200 (Taryss Andoria 150)
Industrial Energy Cells 400 (Semek Vulcan 300)

Advanced Commodities (all available from Lt. Marrien on SB39 or Trenk on Ganalda)
Antigens 400 (Rek MA 300)
Astrometric Probes 400 (Rek MA 300)
Water Purification Systems 400 (Lt. Marrien SB39 / Trenk Ganalda 300)
Weather Control Systems 600 (Rek MA 450)
Industrial Replicators 800 (Lt. Marrien SB39 / Trenk Ganalda 600 / Romulan Embassy 600)

*note all of the basic and advanced commodities can be found via space traders (the cargo ships, not ferengis or Mudd) for 75% base cost (which is better than the base cost, but the same as specialized vendors for most items).

Special Commodities (all available from Konzaar on DS9 or Odenk on Drozana - both locations are cross-faction)
Warp Coils 800 (also Talut K7) (Romulan Embassy 600)
Self-Sealing Stem Bolts 800 (Romulan Embassy 600)
Entertainment Provisions 800 (also Ariana Risa) (Romulan Embassy 600)
Seismic Stabilizers 1000 (also Melangogg Risa) (Romulan Embassy 750)
Terraforming Systems 1200 (also Talut K7) (Romulan Embassy 900)

*note, the specialized vendors and space traders do not give a discount on the special commodities. Not sure if this is working as intended or a bug.

**Tier 2 Romulan Embassies have special discounted specialty commodities at a console in the shipyard (next to the shuttle to the starbase). No Ferengi discounts apply

Gamma Quadrant Commodities (these are obtainable through "Haggle" DOff missions in Cardassian space* or as drops from certain boxes)
Bataret Incense
Ferasan Nepata Leaves
Jevonite
Shapeshifting Lockets
Tulaberries
Unrefined Ketracel

* Cardassian space is Alpha Trianguli, Beta Ursae, Zeta Andromedae, Deep Space Nine, Rolor Nebula, Betreka Nebula, and Zenas Expanse. Bajor has missions in orbit, but not planet-side. I have been unable to find Haggle missions at Bajor

Klingons do not have specialized vendors (except for the few sold by the main commodity vendors)

    R&D Materials
If you were like me you stumbled around trying to find rare particles for your crafting/R&D. Here's what I have so far (mostly unconfirmed)

Argonite Gas (VR) any elite undine space queue
Beta-Tachyon (R) undine infiltration elite - mine trap elite
Craylon Gas (VR) defend rh'ihno station - mine trap - Transdimensional Tactics - Self Destructive Tendencies
Dentarium (VR) any elite undine ground queue
Plekton (VR) any elite borg ground queue
Radiogenic Particle (VR) crystalline catastrophe elite
Rubidium (R) crystalline catastrophe elite - undine infiltration elite
    Tetrazine Gas (R) unknown
Trellium-k (VR) any elite borg space queue
Z-Particle (R) science and exploration duty officer missions

    Coming soon: Food locations.

    Here's a cliff's note version.
Earth Spacedock (Club), Starfleet Academy (Club), Deep Space Nine (Quark's), and the Captain's Table (Cap) all sell the exact same foods.

Drozana sells the same as the other Fed vendors, but also sells the Comet Cocktail.

Deferi Snow Tubers are only available on Defera

Qo'nos sells different food from the Fed vendors (more of a klingon flavor)

Bajor sells Bajoran foods (at ridiculously high prices comparatively)

Starbase 39, K-7, Ganalda, Vulcan, Risa, Andoria all do not have food vendors.

Pricewise: Replicator and Fed vendors are cheap (like 20 EC for everything). Bajor and Qo'nos are expensive.

    Thanks!

It's always nice to see people putting in an effort to help out other players. Don't get me wrong; most players help each other out when someone has a question or an issue, but threads that help the masses out from the start always make me sm:)e.

    Keep up the good work!

Can't you simply speak the the space freighter just outside sol system and get the cheap commodity prices instead of flying all over the place?

Thanks, that might make a difference when getting commodities in the thousands. :)

Short answer, yes the space freighters outside Sol are the cheapest/ most efficient way to get commodities. I don't recall traders in Klingon space, though.

I keep hoping they'll bring back special pricing for the vendors to make it worth your while for a little extra effort. Maybe I should bring it up in next months ask cryptic.

Yeah, that's a good one for the cheap and most used commodities. 75 EC each.
Nothing there is over the value price.

So, unless you are hurting for EC, I'd not bother flying all over the quadrant. ;)
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Would you dare mention to the throngs that the quartermaster in the rear compartment of the Tuffli cargo ship sells commodities at a significant discount?

Would love to... if someone would give me the prices. I don't have my own Tuffli freighter, and the Tuffli tribble is not very forthcoming on commodities.

I'm pretty sure the same freighter captains are in regulus sector for the klingons but its a bit of a further distance for them traveling from Qonos.

Bit old, but it's less about "hurting for EC" and more that the savings add up significantly when you're buying the stuff up by the hundred-thousands for Starbase work. Also, for some reason, the Ferrengi Lobes bonus does not work on sector-space traders.

Aw man, I hadn't been paying attention and was still flying around according to the earlier list. :(

So I guess I just have to lurk around Sol and grab a space trader, eh?

If you're at Sol, just head to the Kei system (it's SW of Sol on the map). Freighters tend to get 'stuck' there. It's a feature, not a bug

The Tuffli Class Freighter matches the lowest prices available for each commodity

Data Samples are also required for Starbase projects if you are in a fleet, for some Rep projects and there some DOFF Projects also.

    Same with the particle traces.

Thanks so much - this list has helped me a ton in the past. Thought I would add a couple things you might want to include in your post.

    1. Ferengi Lobes discount gives 20% discount on ground vendors (not space freighters). So buying Med Supplies from Semek on Vulcan costs 60 EC rather than 75, etc. I believe running the D'Kora with the full space set from the lobi store adds the 20% discount to the space vendors as well.

    2. Tier 2 Romulan Embassies have special discounted specialty commodities at a console in the shipyard (next to the shuttle to the starbase). No Ferengi discounts apply
    • Industrial Replicators - 600 EC
    • Warp Coils - 600 EC
    • Self-Sealing Stem Bolts - 600 EC
    • Entertainment Provisions - 600 EC
    • Seismic Stabilizers - 750 EC
    • Terraforming Systems - 900 EC

Specialty Food and Drink can be added to your Replicator (cost 20 EC) by adding different species and rarities of Chef and Bartender Duty Officers. See:
