I think we need one. Post your random PvP thought of the day, be it a word, a sentence or several paragraphs, be it an observation, a question, a remark, a witty comment, a complaint, an inspiration.
My random thought was this:
The Rythm of PvP is determined by cooldowns and durations.
15 seconds System Cooldown.
30 seconds EPTS, duration, 30 seconds global, 60 second cooldown, 30 seconds to next EPtS
10 Seconds Cannon Rapid Fire III, 30 seconds global, 60 seconds cooldows, 30 seconds to Cannon Scatter Volley I
Beam Overload 1 shot in the next 30 second, 30 second global, 60 second cooldown
Transfer Shield Strength 15 secnd duration, 45 second cooldown, 30 second global
Tactical Team, 10 second duration ,30 second global
Enemy RSP running out in 10 seconds
Next Allied Subnuke in 20 seconds
Tactical Initiative ready in the next 30 seconds

i have recently put all my weapons on autofire except my dbb and/or torp.
did you know you can only hit 3 buttons at a time in this game? or something like that....
my weapons and powers had been misfiring a ton. now they don't.
i should prolly get around to keybinds and the such.
but yes. cooldowns. ummmmm...yeah.
now i dont miss them as often! yay efficiency!

That is actually a limitation of a non gaming keyboard called ghosting. This game does suffer from lost commands but the input number seems to be well over 7 abilities "simultaneously".
Don't leave home without your DOff's equipped. They're every bit as important a piece of equipment as your shields (NOTE to KDF: Not if you're doing "A Good Day to Die") and guns.

Why does cooldown seem to mean something different to each person in this game?
Because there are so many things that act as cooldown?
Global Cooldown
System Cooldown
Power Cooldown (Actually this may be called Recharge)

More confusing are hull resistance and shield resistance (or rather: shield damage reduction), and the way they stack internally (each differently) and on each other (not at all or only indirectly).

Hopefully the new STO Starbases will give us acces to even better ships.

I wonder who will take over, if any, when Gozer leaves? Will there ever be a PvP Season?
take over what exactly? General brainstorming about things that one could do? If Devs need at least 6 month to get the ropes and become a productive member of the team....well S7 is about story, S9 seems like a realistic time for thinking about pvp again.
Is there even a displayed Global cool down in this game? Cause when I activate a power all my powers do not go on a brief CD where I can't activate them. So no global cool down. Unless "Global" in this game means "Not Global" but just "Some Stuff".
I guess a system cool down must be where if you activate one power in a system all powers in that system go on a cool down for at least the duration of the activated powers effect.
I dunno imma start drinking again. any suggestions?
There is a global cooldown for the same kind of skill, for example rapid fire, you can have multiple copies of it, but when you activte one, all other go into a 15second cooldown as well. while the rapid fire you activated has a 30 second cooldown.
Or torpedoes have a 1 second global cooldown, which means that no matter how many launchers you have, you won't be fireing more then 1 launcher per second.

It's not TOR global. I'd call it more shared cooldown, but that was also sometimes the name for the system cooldown. Snix used the term Global Cooldown.

It took 2 Years to get a developer to start to take full time notice of PVP...
Will it take another 2 Years before that not only happens again, but we actually get the PVP that we sorely need? One that is fun for everyone. One that provides Rewards that we can all enjoy and use. And one that is balanced beyond what we have currently. And one that we can stop complaining about and start praising...
You think that your beta test was bad?

Yawn... we have a challenge system use it all you want.
3v3 perhaps.... still not needed. But at least that could be interesting... honestly though 3v3 would really really make pug vs premade an issue... one junk teammate and its pretty much over. At least in a 5v5 if it ends up being 5v3 it can still be a good match... a friend and I beat up some feds the other night 2v5 that was fun.
1v1 outside of shuttle vs shuttle or escort vs escort ... its like watching paint dry.
I can no longer fly healing Cruisers. I thought I was doing okay once. But these days, when I play with a Cruiser, I suck. :frown:
ive found that im incapable of focusing more on the team mates that need heals then i am on killing this guy im shooting at, guess thats why i resign myself to playing what im flying as tactically as possible, and why i haven't touched my engineers in months. i still through about 5 times the number of heals then the majority of pub mates though.
i sort oh hate that killing and healing are of equal importance in this game, this is the 1 mmo that doesn't have magic in it that can explain everything, star ships healing as effectively as they can damage is absurd, and an affront to the ip.
nothing around here seems more sacred then the team. glory to the team, which is what mmo game play is about, and those who are loners are playing wrong.
nah, i like loose teams fine, i just don't like that healing is as as good, more powerful, and more impotent in a match, then killing the enemy. it makes a talented team invincible, you cant even TRIBBLE their armor unless you bring an equally good team.
teems shouldn't be able to give hit points faster then the enemy can take them away, instead of giving hitpoints they should only give resistance, it should be up to the player to repair his own ship.
For example, the knowledge that you should run high weapon power, because it gives you the most bang for your buck (literally).
So we shouldn't just teach distribute shields, EptS and tactical team. We must even teach weapon power is important if you want to damage. This may not be aimed so much at PvPers, but more at PvErs, but never the less.
Startrek Online's PvE is way too easy if you know what you are doing. But if you don't know, you can be totally screwed in some situations, like when you try to deal with an enemy that can heal himself.

And will someone for the love of ..., please tell me why I am an ensign!!!!
Or are you meaning something a little less, humorous? (though I was serious when I told someone this)
Is anyone that uses Tractor Beam spam going to hell, or just Federation players?
Why is inertia reversed in this game anyway?

We don't need a 1v1 Queue, there are already easy ways to 1v1 in game, how many mmos have you played with 1v1 queues in them anyway?
There is a reason they are not integrated often if at all, PVP combat in classed based mmos
is not balanced via 1v1!
