So if it was expanded enough, it can really change STO's to be more of a player-driven economy.

The extreme boom/bust cycle would be exciting.

I agree. Rather than buying a lottery ticket, it feels more like getting a toy prize inside your box of cracker jacks.

I miss when you actually got toys in Cracker Jacks. And they used to come in a box.

Now they come in a mylar bag and the "prize" is a stupid paper thing.

    About the ship itself...

I like the "commerce" features like the D'Kora had. I like the Transwarp to exploration clusters. I like the fact you can access it from your starship. I think this is a great ship for doffing, even better than the D'Kora.

My real dilemma, if I ever get one, will be whether to give it to my Ferengi character or keep my options open in case I ever get a D'Kora. Certainly there will be no good reason for one character to have both ships.

I am not willing to grind my non-virtual cash to get this, any more than I was willing to grind it for the D'Kora. I have a budget that I'm sticking to. It might encourage me to spend a little more on DOFFs than I might have anyway, but not much. If I get it, I get it. If not, I'll deal with it.

I'm ok with this, the ship is fun and functional but doesn't outclass other, more readily available ships like the Bug did.

    No harm done I say.

I like the concept. I think it's cool. I just wish we could sell stuff to other players with it for dil. Right now the only things you can sell for dil is cpoints and the stf stuff.

i like it. its a cute ship for a specialist role. roleplayers and doffers will love it.

some fool will being one to an stf but such is life.

lol you're being more generous than I am.. if they drop to .. 30mil I _might_ considering picking one up.. but having a D'Kora already makes it less... shiny.

I'd like to buy the ship... but unfortunately I can't. I can only buy a chance at getting the ship...

    Exactly.

Its a Doffers ship . . . . it will not have a wide appeal. IMO should be in the C-Store for 800-1000CP. I'd probably pay that for it.
I will not however spend a single penny on these silly gambles.

If the exchange price comes out at 30 million EC or less, I might buy one there.

The only thing THIS is missing is "Cargo Space" - additional bank space for the owner !

    They won't do that.

Sure, it would be nice, it would be convenient, it would be mildly realistic. But they still aren't going to do that.

    1. They already have four forms of storage in the game: inventory, bank, account bank, fleet bank. Five, if you count mail. Six if you count the Exchange as temp storage. All of which you can easily get at from the Freighter's service contacts.

    2. You can already buy additional storage. Might be nice if they bundled a little of that somehow, but it would add to your existing storage not create yet another bucket.

    3. STO does not currently have "container" items like bags. Maybe we'll get it someday.

    4. If we did get "container" items, they would be in the form of crates or maybe buffer patterns that you would stick in a normal inventory slot.

    5. An object that could be both a ship and a container at the same time would most likely break a lot of the existing design rules, require a lot of unnecessary coding to implement, and very likely be buggy as all get out.

I'd rather just buy it in the cstore than buying doff pack after doff pack after doff pack after doff pack. Ugh!

Me, too, really. I'm sure I would have paid 800-1000 CP or so for an account wide version.

But this is obviously one of those ships they want to keep on the rare side and probably wasn't going to make a lot of money in the C-store if they did.

They didn't stick the Armitage in a pack because they want to see a lot of people flying it, and they expect it to sell well in the C-Store.

I do hope the odds of getting one will be better than a lockbox, though I'm not optimistic about that.

Needs price capping or making "bind to account" on pick up

some people are already selling these at 100 million and up

Life bans from the exchange is my suggestion
    that and tax at 400%

SO DON"T BUY THEM.... Sheesh... price regulation is only for necessities and even then gets overused.

You also fail to understand the market system. People are OFFERING them for 100m. That doesn't mean anyone is successfully selling them at that price.

It sounds to me like it won't just be for DOffing or RP. It has all the things a starbase has (bank, mail, exchange) AND crafting. And based on the dev blog, you can switch to it from your ship and back quite easily. So really, it's for anyone who's transwarp is on cool down, or who doesn't want to travel a few sectors to get to a starbase's functionality. Which makes it super useful, imo.

I actually didn't think I would ever get one and was just buying the new DOff packs for the newer DOffs...

Well, to my surprise on the fifth pack I opened, I got one...

It was the same with the Galor ship, I didn't really want one but got three... go figure.

I really wanted a D'Kora to be able to RP a Ferengi toon... of course that hasn't happened ... (yet) :frown:

Now I'm not sure if I wanna keep it or sell it..., I'm gonna sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning.

I suppose I could do the Ferengi RP with this, but it would be cooler to use it as an Alien Merchant Captain ...

I may just hang onto it Until/IF(?) Cryptic adds that kind of game-play.

Lack of price regulation and rampant capitalism is in the process of killing over a dozen nations in the real world

do we want to go the same way?

The interior makes me think to a pirate ship. And it's a good ship for doffing / farming. Will definitely buy one at some point.

    Congrats!

And I'll have the same quandary if I ever get one... do I give it to my Ferengi, or keep my options open for a D'Kora I may never get? But do I really want to "waste" a ship selection?

I like it. It's definitely a "bonus", and it serves that role nicely.

I like them going on different tangents with ships.

This freighter really does cater to those who want to be civilian captains, traveling the dangers of space. Hopefully Cryptic is re-thinking the possibility of privateer or trader professions for players intead of being a Starfleet Captain or a Klingon Raider.

If you think about it, it could replace NPC commodity vendors (which really have no use due to replicators) and have people travel around, hauling commodities and other goods. Somewhat similar to the old Starflight PC games, where you go place to place, buying from one place and selling it in another. Which eventually you build up funds to upgrade your ship with.

So if it was expanded enough, it can really change STO's to be more of a player-driven economy.

Idiot consumers who can't accept that what they feel they want might cost more than they feel it should is what is putting economies in jeopardy.

Nations are going into unsustainable debt because people want services (many of which are justifiable) but no one wants to pay for them and have convinced themselves that everyone except them should work for less... usually at the same time complaining they are underpaid.

'Tis true. We don't learn to live without while we can afford it. And eventually we can't afford to live except without.

I have one thing I'm really dissatisfied about the Tuffy Freighter...

It has No Engine Room...

The back of the ship is a BAR... WTF???

Why the hee'll didn't They give it the AZURA Engine Room?

But to be fair... it is, my only complaint.

    Addendum:

    I LIED...,

I've got another complaint... No Customization for the outside... poopies...

I wanted to put some Stripes and colors on it to make it more personal.... double-poopies.
