Soo.. what's everybody thing about the D'Kora Jr.? I like the "Security Transport" idea that's kind of neat.. and the fact that it's handled like a shuttle.
I just hope it's gonna cost no more than 50.000.000 on exchange. Have been grinding ECs for the D'Kora but I guess the freighter will do. As I play only doffs lately it will come in handy to have a bank with you all the time.
Now that I've looked at it.
I LOVE it !!!
(Not Kidding)
I have been talking about wanting a ship like this since i started.
I used to run the transport freightor Holo Emitter on everything till i got a DKora
I'd say it's a much better version.
You guarenteed get something worth having, and get something else too.
Plus the cost of the doff pack doesn't change.

let's see...
- i have to buy DOFF space - 580CP for 100 Doffs
- i have to buy the DOFF pack - 220 or more for this pack
the chances were app. 0.5 %
conclusion: that's a hell lot of Doffs ill have to dump, plus, i wonder how the prizes of powered alien artifacts will change..?
for me it is a no buy ( these are just the normal faction Doffs, nothing new or special - i don't do carriers)
it would also help a lot if this freighter would pose as a cargo space, or there were SOME missions for it.
Do we have info if with this the lockboxes are definitive away, or will we now have 2 simultaneous lotteries ingame?
I would also LOVE to expand my account bank by some 24 slots.. i don't seem to be able to do so..
any info on this`?

And you don't have to constantly jettison them to keep them from overcoming your inventory, and they don't fill up your screen with green spam during STF's.

Guess I have never felt the need to expand my Doff Roster. I am constantly trading up 5 whites for a green , and so forth these days. Packs that have a decent Green , Blue or sometimes purple, give me long time additions to my crew.
With the trading up, I always have room for more and have never come close to needing more than 100... And i am always capable of keeping 20 missions running.
From the start I have never understood why someone would buy more Doff roster slots.
So , for me it's just the 220 for the pack, which I might have bought anyway for a chance at that new active roster Energy weapon officer power.
The cannons bonus.
The new active roster abilities are indeed new ... and special.
I also wonder what will happen to the 'Alien Artifact' powered and not market on the exchange. Should be interesting.
Whether lockboxes are gone for good (please By all that's good and pure in the universe) or not, this is a far more attractive way to sell this idea or rare /non faction ships to me.
All the extra prizes are decent, and I am definately getting a few doffs out of the pack. And they are trying to make them cool doffs.
Plus , as beezle said ... if we get this lottery method, all that visual , horrible, lockbox spam and constant need to click 'pass' will go away.
I think it's fantastic. An even better ship for doffing, and even better doffs. My only regret would be the silly bound limitations we get with lockbox ships. There should be an option to repackage it and sell. The D'kora will be worthless as far as I care once I get this new ship, which sort of frustrates me but whatever, there's too many perks to pass up, and there will always be that dabo table(I guess...)
I was going to open a few more packs for chances at an extra Jem ship but now, I think I'll just save my money for tomorrow's new pack.
Not a fan of gambling period, but at least this won't make the game feel as cheap as those infernal lockboxes.

It depends on how fast you want to grind things out. It can certainly be done with 100 slots. But that severely limits how fast you can do things. I ran with 150 for a long time, and that way optimal. It allowed me to gain and keep high-end officers for regular things I wanted to do, such as assignment buffs, yet still gave me space to bloat other areas, such as having so many diplomats and advisors that, given there were enough missions around, I could run 20 diplomacy missions at one time.
Once those were ground down, I sold off or sent to alts all the diplos I no longer needed, keeping the really nice ones, and bloated myself with traders, and ground that out. Then medical, and so forth and so on.
Now I have 175 slots, which allows me to bloat up with Support crits and refugees to trade for salable doffs (and store those doffs until it's time to sell or pass them to alts) while still retaining a more simplified version of my original crew for trade missions and tac/engineering assignment buffs.
I don't know that it's necessary to have the max roster, but having more can make life a little easier.
I'd like to buy the ship... but unfortunately I can't. I can only buy a chance at getting the ship...
And given how my luck with their "random" factor is in this game I'd probably end up having to spend a $1000 before I got the ship so I have to pass on this and all "luck based purchases", which is a shame.
All this luck, chance and gambling may be the new hotness in free to play MMO gaming but I can't believe I'm the only one that wants to have the opportunity to just pay a fair price for something and know what you're getting.
Not a fan of gambling period, but at least this won't make the game feel as cheap as those infernal lockboxes.
See, it doesn't feel like gambling this way. At least to me. It feels like I am buying a DoFF pack (which I might have anyway), and getting something extra.

Thanks for the explanation. I am definately not a PRO at this Doffing system/game. I just enjoy it.

I agree. Rather than buying a lottery ticket, it feels more like getting a toy prize inside your box of cracker jacks.
It would be nice if the DUty Officer packs only gave you green quality or higher duty officers and no white ones. As for the freighter, I think they could've done better and gave us a Hirogen, Breen or some other ship. A freighter, seems the ships are getting worse and worse. Makes me sad! :frown:

I'm in total agreement with you, I spent too much on the Cardassian LOckboxes and actually had to buy the ship off the exchange, tried for the Jem'ha'dar recently and after 30 Duty Officer packs had to give up, it's a real shame and rip off to the consumers imo. I'd more than happily pay 2000-3000CP for the ships even if they were only available for like a week or two, but this gambling based rewards I'm not interested in.

You're not alone.
I actually think this is faaaar worse than the lockboxes.
Atleast with lockboxes you know you can eventually get enough crystals to buy what you want. With this you could potentially spend hundreds, if not thousands and not even get the item you actually wanted.
I'd like to buy the ship... but unfortunately I can't.
Oh but that's where you're quite wrong.
Just like every ship before, there is in fact an alternative to spending real money. No, it won't be quick or easy, but it will be 100% free and 100% guaranteed. But how, you ask?
Because, inevitably, someone, sometime, will put some on the Exchange. It's really the greatest feature in this whole lockbox/rare ship setup. There are in fact three methods to getting any given ship; Cash + luck, Dil + luck, or EC + Exchange.
I like them going on different tangents with ships.
This freighter really does cater to those who want to be civilian captains, traveling the dangers of space. Hopefully Cryptic is re-thinking the possibility of privateer or trader professions for players intead of being a Starfleet Captain or a Klingon Raider.
If you think about it, it could replace NPC commodity vendors (which really have no use due to replicators) and have people travel around, hauling commodities and other goods. Somewhat similar to the old Starflight PC games, where you go place to place, buying from one place and selling it in another. Which eventually you build up funds to upgrade your ship with.
So if it was expanded enough, it can really change STO's to be more of a player-driven economy.

What are you talking about ?
The latest encouragement to buy Doff packs in droves is a Tuffli freighter.

Bravo.
Cannot wait.
Must have.
That's what I think.
I suggest an attempt at an STF with nothing but merchant freighters.
That would be hilarious.
