Hi, I got past the patchclient error i'd been getting with the download of the file that is linked to elsewhere in the forums. But now I get an "unable to authenticate" error when I try to log in with the launcher. I've checked other people's posts on this subject and have opened ports 7000-7500 in my firewall, and will try opening them on the router too. I know it's possible the servers are just overloaded and that I should come back later tonight. But I've tried logging in several times and I keep getting this error message.
Been discussed at great length and should come right up via a search of the error. You some times see that error when the server is overloaded and the queue is filled. May have to come back later. The network may also be blocking access via an outright ban to the servers. Ports may have gotten closed as well.
Can you run the tests provided in this stick and copy and past the result please?
Since I haven't seen any other folks reporting a problem recently, I have a feeling that it;s an issue with your connection to the server. Something may be blocking them.
Just did major update of .NET. I don't know if it is making a difference, but I could not even run tests. Just kept getting "Unable to authenticate"
I went into the firewall and the launcher was not in the allowed programs. Once I added that, it works fine now.
from yesterday everytime i tryed to log into STO the launcher says: unable to authenticate.
first i tryed with my old cryptic account...then i've linked my new PWE account with the cryptic one. i've tryed to log in with the new PWE account but i always had "unable to authenticate"....

Someone mentioned a recent upgrade of Microsoft NET but I don't recall anyone following up on that.
