Did you get my original message? These cubes nearly broke past the Sol system defences. They're no ordinary cubes! And they're probably using the Bassen's Rift as a staging point. you may want to try and remove them from your space. We are here to assist you if you should want it.

All messages were received. We chose not to answer until now. This will our last transmission to you until we have a mind to do so again. Do not concern yourself with the Borg or what you class as 'Bassen's Rift'. You do not have clearance to enter our space. Any attempt to do so will be met with ultimate force.

    Ores: Aye captain.

Soval: Romulan Star Empire, this is Vice Admiral Soval of the United Federation of Planets. I request permission to meet with a representative from your government to discuss the current situation at Starbase 39. Please respond with your answer and the time of the meeting.

Soval: What are the chances that our Romulan friend was sending orders to investigate Bassen's Rift?

    Gardra: Pretty high I'd say.

Soval: If we warn the Sao Paulo we'll give the game away. Keep transmitting that last hail.

Nothing new so far. I've sent a cloaked scout ship into Bassen's rift to investigate what the Borg are doing. I've already received authorisation

    Soval: Anything?

    Ores: Not yet sir.

Soval: Open a channel. Romulan Star Empire this is Admiral Soval. We have picked up a distress call from one of our Defiant Class Starships. Their Navigation SSystem has failed and they've drifted into Romulan Space. Request that you allow us to send ONE ship to recover her.

Soval: Are you sure this report's accurate?
    T'las: Yes, sir.
Soval: We're in so much trouble. Apprise Command of the situation.

    *Meanwhile, on a Romulan Warbird*

Romulan Commander: Gentleman, the Romulan Empire has little tolerance for spies.

Captain Cromwell: We're not spies! Our ship suffered a navigation error. Before we could clear it we were in Romulan Space and your vessels had attacked us!

Romulan Commander: Navigation error? Do you take me for a fool?! I know there is no force I can use that will force your Vulcan friend to talk, but you captain, are a different story.

Commander T'rok: You needn't resort to such methods Commander. I say now, and for the record that Captain Cromwell took the Sao Paulo across the neutral zone on his own authority, without the Federation's consent.

    Cpt. Cromwell: Shut up Commander!

Comm. T'rok: He is not sane.

Cpt. Cromwell: My god man! I'll kill you! I'll kill you!

Soval: This is Admiral Soval to Rator III. We are aware of your attack on the U.S.S. Sao Paulo. We had already told you that the Sao Paulo had drifted into Romulan Territory due to a Navigational error. We would like to negotiate for the return of the Sao Paulo's crew to Federation Space. We await your illustrious response. If you should choose not to return our people, know that your glorious Empire will have damaged it's relations with our Federation.

Cpt. Cromwell: Cromwell, David. Rank: Captain. Serial number: Z2133456AS441F90.

Romulan Commander: Let's try something else.

    Cromwell: there are 4 lights

*Romulan Commander hits a button on his remote. Cpt. Cromwell receives a strong shock*

Mister President, of the United Federation of Planets. It is our intention to inform you of the illegal transgression of a StarFleet vessel, on a mission of espionage, and the detainment of her crew under Interstellar Law. Repeated requests by StarFleet to enter Romulan space were refused by our soverign right. Despite this, U.S.S. San Paulo was instructed to cross our border under cloak, in an attempt to circumvent our refusal. Border interception forces apprehended these criminals and are now being held for processing.

The Romulan Star Empire is open for negotiations, but we demand the immediate removal of Admirals Ryan, Soval, Black and Prime for their actions in this matter as a minimum response.

Soval: As I've already explained to you a hundred times Commander, the Sao Paulo was forced into Romulan Space by a malfunction in her Navigational Systems. We attempted to inform you of the situation and request permission to retrieve the Sao Paulo but received no response.

    Anything from my sources?

Ores: We got a communique from a man named Sarok. He says that the Sao Paulo's crew is being held in the Brea System. The Sao Paulo is there too.

    *Opens secure channel to Obisek*

Soval: Obisek, our people our being held on an orbital base in the Brea System. I need you to rescue them and destroy the Sao Paulo.

Obisek: Don't worry Admiral. It will be taken care of.

*2 hours later a Reman fleet decloaks around a Romulan Base in the Brea System, beam up all 50 of the Sao Paulo's crew, destroy the Sao Paulo, and cloak again*

    (LOL!)

An interesting scenerio you wish for, Captain. Sadly, we have no facilities in the Brea System. Your desperation for rescue is evident. Now...where were we...?

We do not negotiate with criminals. All communications on this matter will only be tolerated by the Federation Council and its ambassadors. I am additionally surprised you are so concerned with this issue during a supposed Borg invasion. Perhaps there is no invasion after all, as you are clearly able to waste precious time...

Commander, let's drop all pretence. I ordered the Sao Paulo to the Federation side of the Bassen's Rift, what you call "The Great Bloom" to analyse the threat the Borg pose to the Alpha Quadrant. That information is stored in the Sao Paulo's sensor logs. I will give you the information's location if you release the Sao Paulo's crew. I'll also surrender myself to YOUR custody to help you decrypt the data. After which, you will be able to predict the Borg's defenses. If you wish, this could be a joint Federation-Romulan Endeavour. If not, I will order my Fleet back to Starbase 39 after I enter your custody.

    T'las: Soval, I can't accept this!

Soval: You must Commander. Under the circumstances this seems to be the only logical course of action.

    T'las: But--

Soval: I've already sent a transmission to Starfleet detailing my request for an extended leave of absence. If you don't here from me in seven days, I've prepared my letter of resignation from Starfleet. If you don't hear from me, send it.

    T'las: Soval...

Soval: I know. Live Long, and Prosper T'las.

    T'las: Peace and Long Life.

Admiral, time is of the essence. The Borg are more than likely massing a huge armada in that nebula. Without the Sao Paulo's sensor logs we don't know what to expect. The crew may have the information we need and even if they don't, I can help the Romulans get the data out of the ship's databanks. This seems to be the only logical course of action.

I'll need more information before I abandon this course of action.

But admiral at what cost. Who is to say the romulans will let any of you go when you get there. But I can't tell you how to act admiral I will leave it up to you to decide. Ad vanguard is not a group per say. Just so you know.
