Nova Class definately has my #1 on my favorite ship.

I know the Mvam is a nice tactical/sci ship.. but Come on reverse the role and you'd end up with something like a Nova. It was the Original defiant / pathfinder, meant for combat. The science people just picked it up when the borg came around because for some reason it wasnt 'good' enough. All they had to do was strap on 2 giant sensor pallets to the front.. and boom.. awesome survey ship.

Science ships allready are kind of.. well they suck... Theres no way around saying it now. They have no firepower, wierd skills that dont really damage or destroy anything.. And support powers that are either useless or forgotten about. Science team and Hazard emitters are like the top 2 science powers that people use in space. Well ok Polarize hull.. but Attack Pattern Omega is way better anyways.

I do have to say the Romulan Raptor class was a nice ship to me too...

Akira was also great for a torpedo boat.. but thats probably a star trek legacy thing.

Wow, you must be using the wrong weapons and skills with sci ships. There is a lot more than polarize hull let me tell ya. The "weird powers that don't really damage or destroy anything" you mention seem to do just fine with the right skill points and consoles. So far I have used all of the ships minus the star cruiser cause I just don't like it. Pound for pound, when it comes to a well rounded, agile, game-ender, the upper class sci ships do it for me with no sweat. When I can fly circles around a Tactical Odyssey, knock it out and come out on top with a few minor repairs, I would say sci ships will stand their ground with the bigger ships any day. The Odyssey guy immediately went to ESD to change his boff skills because my wee bitty Luna class sent him home. IMO naturally. I'm not sure if this got mixed up cause you say the Nova is your number one, which I loved flying BTW, then come back with they suck. If I am confused I do apologize.

Your funny. Look I use the ship as a support vessel. Sure it does some damage, but nothing compaired to a cruiser or escort.

Worthless powers like transfer shield strength... tykons rift... Photonic Shockwave.. Photonic Fleet.. well ok that one sometimes is nice, but mostly just a waste of time. Mask Energy Signature is neat but ... futile in the end.

Hmm I know I'm forgetting something, but after doing stf's for the last 2 weeks, I really don't feel like logging in and getting the full list of next to worthless skills out.

    1) Akira Class beautiful ship
    2) Yeager Class always just looked like it could hold up like a BoP in a fight.
    3) Saber Class the history on that ship is fun.

Well I'll second this for #1 and #3, I'm still a Nova fan though.

My favorite has to be the Sovereign!

I remember the first time I saw it in First Contact. I thought she was gorgeous! She still looked like an Enterprise, but so sleek and elegant. I also love the Galaxy class...

btw... I was watching TNG the other day, and it showed the Ent D turn around as if it were simply rotating where it was at. Why are we so bound to these slow turning ships in space. Are there not some form of thrusters to turn the ship in a reasonable amout of time...? anyway...

I also love the Connie. I grew up watching TOS with my Dad and was thrilled with The Motion Picture so shes a favorite too.

I think the Akira is awesome looking.

I think the D'deridex is amazing (and am looking forward to eventually being able to fly one in game)

I think my favorite Klingon ship is the Negh'var. Just a big scary warship. That thing screams..."Run! While you still can"... ;)

    Great thread!

    Thanks guys

I'm boring, I like the Sovereign. It looks like it's going at warp speed even when it's standing still...

Oh and the Negh'Var... "get out of my way!"

I'll take that as a compliment. To each his own I guess. I have no probs with STFs either, so I guess I don't know what to tell you. I do not think any of those are lame abilities, well the mask signature is a bit lame; that's probably why I never select it. I have had better luck with the science ships than either Cruisers or Escorts. I like a well rounded package though. Not too hot, not too cold. My porridge is just right. I do have 2 Nova class ships, 3 Long Range, 1 Luna, and 1 Deep Space. I also have all the escorts, and cruisers. I just prefer the science abilities. Put a Tac Officer in the seat and you still get your attack patterns, put an Engineer in and you still get your support. Put the right officers and the right skills on any ship and you should have no problems. I like em better on science ships is all. Nothing overly funny about that, but I am glad it gave you a chuckle.

If your boring you wouldn't choose the sovereign class! :P

She is one of the sexiest ships out there.

    Overall Favorite: Galaxy Class
The Enterprise-D will always have a special place in my heart.

After that, the D'deridex. First time I saw a warbird, I thought it looked SO cool.

Well obviously I agree, but I've met some people who think that I only prefer it because it is the true star of the movies.

well just ignore them, its a matter of opinion anyway, as tech advances it will become obslete, sad to say, happens in real life. And it is one of the best looking and unqiue ships out there. As the true star of the movie well ya "ITS THE ENTERPISE" next time ask them what is their favorite ship.

I did seem to miss the point. I guess the thread does not say from STO :) Movie and series wise, my faves are the 1701-A and the Excelsior and on the Romulan side the D'deridex, but the Mogai is pretty snazzy too.

Akira class is my favourite. Before then it was the Nebula, and before that it was the Miranda. Before the Miranda I didn't have a favourite trek ship because there was just the one and I never really liked it that much.

A close second to the Akira, now, would be my custom Avenger class with Vanguard pylons and Celestial nacelles.

    Marquis Raider.

Why? The flight scenes during Sisko's first encounter with them in combat are awesome.

That point-blank wingover right in the face of the runabouts was like doing a hair-toss maneuver IRL. Haughty and fun :D

K't'inga/D7 is always gonna have a special place for me, it just looks like it was designed for smashing other ships up, it's menacing, looming, lean and aggressive.

But, I think the D'deridex edges it out for me. That sucker decloaks and the Enteprise D crew fill their pants. It's all stars on the view screen one moment, and a big green hurtin' machine the next. And it can cloak. It's probably watching you read this post. Judging, violating the neutral zone, ready to disrupt you with... well, disruptors, actually.

Oooh totally misunderstood and thought we were only talking about Starfleet ships... Because I'm an idiot. >.<

I don't really have an absolute favourite, then. It would have to be a 3 way tie between the K't'inga, the Klingon Bird of Prey and the D'deridex. I would never be able to choose between them.

I do also love the STO Vor'kang. It seems to be a much more intimidating and classically styled successor to the K't'inga class than the K'vort.

My all-time favourite ship is probable thy Romulan D'deridex, I still have the toy version on my shelf!

The runner-ups would be the NX-01, the Nebula, the Intrepid and the Ferengi Marauder. Oh, and the Nova class. Cute little ship!

EDIT : And the Miranda. Woaw, I almost forgot it. I love the Miranda, it was a great idea to have it as the starter ship of STO! =)

Sovereign class. I've loved it ever since I saw First Contact on the big screen. My first Rear Admiral ship was the Assault Cruiser, and I still fly it, 2 years later.

    DY-100 class standard interplanetary transport

The S.S. Botany Bay, Nuclear-powered vessel of the DY-100 class, which was Earth's standard interplanetary transport of the late 20th century. Named after an infamous Australian penal colony, the S.S. Botany Bay was converted into a "sleeper ship" and launched in 1996 with refugees from the Eugenics Wars

    Interesting choice.

Then again, as Grand Nagus, it is a logical favourite. That sleeper ship, stripped out of life support systems for human cargo, means immense cargo bays.

    Huge cargo capacity = profit!

Even in an age of warp propulsion making nuclear power obsolete, it can still be converted into a luxurious accomodations facility. I.e. Grand Hyatt Trismigistus :D

Now, being a cruiser and fleet escort pilot, the Defiants always stand out to me as tiny little puppies that run all over the place going PEW PEW PEW. Just when the Borg starts to get ****ed at the tiny little things running all over the place they will PEW PEW PEW even more and furniture, carpets, laundry, bookshelves, everything start to crumble...
