I used most of those in the individual missions themselves... the wrapper mission is the sortie...

    It means this...

Can I disintegrate a crewman, like Cmdr Kruge did to the tac officer that blew up the Grissom in Search for Spock?

If anyone can come up with an alternative to Sortie... that "fits" and I like... sure :)

    Pirate? Plunder? :3

    Both are applicable. :p

If I were a Klingon, I would likely consider most of Pi Canis to be Klingon territory. Therefore, they see this as protecting what they interpret as already theirs. They would consider the Federation presence as an incursion. So these sorties are striking fear into the hearts of our enemy.

    In my handy, Klingon Dictionary:

    wa'DIch means First
    cha'DIch means Second
    vang means Act, Take Action
    mup means Strike
    noD means Retaliate
    Duv means Advance

If one wants more Star Trek/Klingon feel, then maybe...

noD mup wa'DIch (retaliatory strike first)
noD mup cha'DIch (retaliatory strike second)

The new missions are great fun on my Tac/Raptor and terrible on my Sci/Carrier. I love especially how the BoP pets blow up the stopped freighters on their own after I've stopped firing myself. Also the fact that the carrier needs 3 min to launch its firepower means those other optional objectives are not fun at all.

I like sortie. It makes more sense and encompasses the variety of missions in the two mission groups.

The individual missions may be raids, assaults, etc. but sortie makes sense as the wrapper.

    Keep it, Gozer. :)

Spend your time on making new/cool stuff like these cool missions you made. :D

whilst i love the new pi canis missions, the federation freighter one, near xarantine,ie the one not around a planet\system (at my work pc so don't remember exactly) is extremely frustrating.
it says scan 3 freighters or 5 optional, the most i've managed in my Lt science ship is two before the invisible timer runs out.
I have to spend most of the time taking on the fed ships that protect them.
I don't know how it is in a tac or eng build but any way of making the "timer" slightly longer in general or for science officers ?

WoW doesn't hold a patent on the word Raid. That is exactly what these new Klingon dailies are, raids.
As much as I dislike the word Raid, it fits best in my opinion.

And this doesn't help. Klingons wouldn't know peaceful penetration if they were hit over the head with it. :p

Well if thier hitting klingons over the head with it becareful as that may qualify as foreplay and few things are more grumpy than an excited and unsatisfied Klingon, male or female.

Tip for whom is concerned: Take your weapons off auto while doing these missions to avoid killing frieghters.

This is something that Cryptic should absolutely not give in to the complainers on. At last, the game is asking you to use your brain and not simply obliterate every enemy that crosses your path. So the people who max out their damage like maniacs, ie the insane pvp-ers, are forced to tone it down a notch if they want to do that mission right. Don't give in Cryptic!

Have to agree with my fellow warriors. "Raid" sounds perfect. :)
It immediately calls forth mental images of Klingon ships striking fast at unwary targets deep inside Federation space.

Hmm... "Pi Canis Raid, Group 1" and "Pi Canis Raid, Group 2"?

The term "group" could refer both to a series of strike targets as well as to a formation of KDF ships assigned to this task ...

I don't like "Raid". "Sortie" was ok...but "Assualt" or "Battle Group" is better.

    "Pi Canis Incursion Forces"

    "Pi Canis Spearhead"

    "Pi Canis Strike Force"

"Pi Canis Interdiction Group or Force"

I think Piracy would be better, since it's basically what it is. :p

Then we could get titles like "Corsair" "Buccaneer" and "Pirate Queen / King" :3

Pfshh, piracy is for Orions and Nausicaans. Klingons and Gorn conduct honorable confiscation and redistribution. :D

(imo, another good thing about the term "raid" is that it sounds ambiguous enough to describe both a military or a criminal operation!)

lol then call them "Honourable Redistribution of Wealth" missions, instead of "Sorties" :3

Though that does sound a bit Communical or Robin-Hood-esque :3

Sure it's a long title/name, but hey.. look at some of the random missions for KDF:

"Patrol the H'bvu vsd sdfne assne gnehgt snsehg msdeht djseht nsheth ghsehght e dddgd system"

That is totally offensive, no Sovereign State considers its war time interdiction of logistics and supplies Piracy. Piracy is a term generally used by the victims of sound Operations of such supply interdiction.

The term Piracy or Pirate would never come out of the mouth of any self respecting Klingon Warrior with regards to military actions against an enemy and thier lines of logistics.

Its like people think Klingons are just mindless brutes, anarchist and criminals. Please don't confuse thier willingness for combat to equate to random violence and overall illicit behavior. If anything, our conquering of the Orions and the Nausicans is in away a social excercie in "cleansing" them of such primitive and barbaric views on honor, combat, etc, etc.

Klingons would stick thier nose up at the idea of piracy...right after they slit your throat for even allowing such a vile term in reference to the Empire to escape your breath.

To say a Klingon participatesin acts of priacy is like saying a Samauri takes part in acts of thuggery...either assertion is likly to get you cut and ceremoniously disembowled due to the insult to their honor and sensitivities.

In fact, as a Klingon player/enthuthiast...I'm a bit insulted by the idea...can you tell?

I prefer incursion myself... Incursion Pagh has a nice ring to it, but even Pi Cannis Incursion Alpha sounds 'tougher' than sortie, or even just Alpha Incursion.

(Or ..maybe.. Alpha Incursion: Feddybears without toys, part 1 - but we may want to save this one for when we get a mission to blow up ESD or something )

All I find troubling about the "frieghters" mission is that the 5-6 civilian escorts keep me from transporting materials and hound me like ticks, making it difficult to catch the frieghters. Its troublesome but wonderful.
