New Sortie Missions - Freighters Blow Up Too Easily

Once you disable a freighter it can still take some damage from a last round of weapons fire, meaning they tend to go boom to early robbing you of a chance to pick up the loot.

the button asking you to beam over supplies stick around for a few seconds as well but as the freighter is destroyed you can beam anything aboard.

I assume this is not working as intended as a i had no problems on tribble and it makes the optional objective even tougher if your last salvo takes out the freighter before you beam aboard supplies..

Actually, I had that happen on Tribble once, too.

I consider this an additional challenge, or a glimpse of realism. Sure it's bothersome, but at the same time it feels strangely fitting. Personally, I don't mind, as long as it doesn't happen every time. And you can still lower the weapon energy settings, or deactivate (read: de-slot) one of your guns entirely.

But you know ... I totally felt reminded of Star Trek III as that happened:

-- Bird of Prey decloaks and fires, freighter explodes --
Valias: *bangs fist on chair* "I wanted data samples!!"
Gunner: "But Captain, you said ... fire!"
    Valias: *draws disruptor pistol*
    Gunner:

    :D

I like it - I was failing the mission itself (even on Normal Difficulty) until I stopped the usual 'brute force' approch one gets so used to in STO. Here's a mission where judicious use of Jam and/or Scrable sensors nets you something.

That said, I think the optional objective is impossible to do solo - even on Normal (at least on my LC8 KDF character)- and actually I don't mind that either. YMMV.

That said, I think the Eriksson System optional objective is borked in that I think the two frieghters you release from the Forcefield SHOULD be able to count for the optional objective if you namaged to get 2 of the roaming frieghters before they all escape; but I fail that optional even IF I'm able to do that. Why is there some arbitrary time limit and if that's not what's causing the optional to fail - why can't the 2 frieighters released when the power nodes are destryed still count towards the optional objective?

Erisson is annoying ya. I have yet to finnish the optional on that one.... also annoying that the freighers will warp out even when there in a grave well and a tractor beam :)

Gozer, are there plans for releasing these missions for non-Tac's on steroids?

On my extremely overnerfed Sci officer, I have no way to stop 6 freighters and destroy 2 cruisers, by the time I get the 2 cruisers down, 3 of the freighters are gone.

Honestly at this point, you guys should just remove science from the game, because there is no way to balance PVE to the extreme nerfed state you left it in from all the PVP nerfs.

I've just been playing through the missions, and found the Eriksson bug... I'll fix it :) The optional objective used to be 5 frieghters, but i dropped it to 4. However I must have missed the failure condition on the mission.

Apart from farming the T1 zone, is there any way to get low level crafting items?

Doing Pi Canis has given me around 100 crafting items that seem to be high level.

Minor/trivial bug: the Klingon Pi Canis missions appear under the title 'Klingon front'.

Second bug: Keffani mission, (the one with 4 docked ships that you have to stop from starting their engines) doesn't seem to have any timers for the ships - either the optional mission cannot be failed, or the timer isn't appearing? /shrug

As I recall, the missions are going to have 3 objectives, one for each class, but there was only time to put in the Tac one, so you'll be fine, eventually...

Could you check the patrol mission too please gozer? I just had the same thing, grabbed 5 freighters worth of goodies but not only failed the optional also failed the main mission afterwards!
    Not good for me!

All of the crafting drops in these missions scale to player level.... so your getting the appropriate resources for you level. The only way to get lower level ones will be to go to the appropriate KDF exploration sectors.

The timers are working.. the timer "display" above the ships broke aomewhere between Tribble and Holodeck... Tech team is already looking for the problem.

WoW doesn't hold a patent on the word Raid. That is exactly what these new Klingon dailies are, raids.

There are more synonyms of course.
maneuver, foray, incursion, inroad, attack, invade

Here are the synonyms from dictionary.com:

    invasion
    assault
    mission
    offense
    charge
    strike
    raid

I just have hard time imagining the word "sortie" coming out of a Klingons mouth :p

Sorry my fault. I'm refering to the patrol mission in the sortie where you have to find the patrol of freighters. Then for the main mission you have to loot 3 frieghters and the optional mission you have to loot 5, well by loot I mean take the crafting thingymajigs. I guess beam out the cargo would be the technical term!

Anyway... What happened was after I got all but one of the freighters cargo I still failed both the main and the optional mission I think this happened after one of the first group of freighters warped out.

For added clarity it is the mission where there are two groups of 3 freighter arrayed in a kinda triangle formation each and then a federation ship flies in twice during the mission to 'protect' them...

    Hope that is clearer!

I used most of those in the individual missions themselves... the wrapper mission is the sortie...

Well... uh... that's the reason I would really like a feature that tells me who wrote a mission. So I can avoid certain authors who write missions that are ... well... too annoying for my tastes :P

Btw I would use heist instead of sortie.

Since sortie, according to m-w.com also means: a short trip for pleasure <an occasional sortie to the city to rummage through some of its numerous used-book stores...

which may be the reason why some people have their difficulties with that.

Ah but for Klingons, a "sortie" to raid Federation space is a trip for pleasure! Qapla'!
