There's Nothing I Want in the C-Store

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I wanted to take advantage of the sale but...there's zero that I'm interested in.

What would be nice to add to the store, ESPECIALLY now that the game's been out almost a year. All the preorder folks have certainly gotten their money's worth at this point. This is a shamelessly easy revenue generator. No more than 240 points each please!
  • Del Taco Type 8 Shuttlecraft
  • Red Matter Capacitor (especially since this is equivalent to EPS Power Transfer)
  • Automated Defense Turret
  • TR-116A Rifle
  • Forward Phaser Bank and Rear Phaser Bank Set (would be nice on Excelsior maybe)
  • Neodymium Deflector Dish
  • Multi-Spatial Personal Shield
  • Chromodynamic Armor

Make all these items level up with the player (infinity symbol). Alternately if you don't want them in the C-Store, dump them on the lifetimers. But none of these are gamebreakers.

I would argue that flooding the game with Breen BOs (serving on Federation starships no less ) is miles more gamebreaking than these few devices. Going forward, for the weeklies, your "big gift" should be an infinite level item like this and other items should be little trinkets that are interesting collector's items but not necessarily useful. And one per week please, at this rate we'll all need wayyy more inventory space.

The bottom line is you're giving out a little too much "stuff" and you need to stretch the assets you already have.

Plus!
  • Constitution Bridge
  • T3 (TSOS) Excelsior Bridge
  • Proper Sovereign Bridge
  • "Updated" Excelsior Bridge for T5
  • Ambassador Bridge (when it comes out of course)
  • "Sutherland" Nebula Bridge
  • Maybe an "updated" Nebula Bridge
  • Decorative Stuff for our Ready Room and Lounges
  • Cloaky Klingon subcraft
  • Delta Flyer subcraft
  • Cloaky Romulan subcraft (Sen. Vreenak's shuttle)

May I suggest that your viewpoint is biased.

Some of theese items, especially when leveling with the captain are "game breaking".

Also half the stuff you want isn't in the game.

[*]Red Matter Capacitor (especially since this is equivalent to EPS Power Transfer)
It's actually an Aux to Battery Engineering BO ability, but with a 4 minute cooldown; and it throws all other batteries into a 2 minute cooldown. I'd rather use Aux to Bat every time then my RMC. :)

You're going to need to do better than those three lines to make this case...as for the stuff at the bottom those are wishlist items (i.e. new suggestions). Did a ninja edit to rearrange it to make it more clear.

    Nps :)
    • Del Taco Type 8 Shuttlecraft
    • Red Matter Capacitor (especially since this is equivalent to EPS Power Transfer)
    • Automated Defense Turret
    • TR-116A Rifle
    • Forward Phaser Bank and Rear Phaser Bank Set (would be nice on Excelsior maybe)
    • Neodymium Deflector Dish
    • Multi-Spatial Personal Shield
    • Chromodynamic Armor

Shuttlecraft: A pet... a useless one at that... Knock yourself out.

Red matter capacitor: If this one levels, it would eventually add up to +25 to all systems (if memory serves it pr default (T0) adds +5, so 5 tiers would probably end up somewhere between 15 and 25 extra). I'd call that gamebreaking. Big time.

Automated Defence Turret: Using this one only (no other plasma weapons), I completed the entire Plasma space damage Accolade before I hit Lt. Cmdr. Pr default it does 46 DPS (i think) If this one leveled up with the captain it would prob end up at around 200 or more... Sure you cant target anything specific with it, but still... Would be gamebreaking.
Pr expirience though it is very handy at taking out mines, Plasma Torpedoes and Tricobalt devices. Trust me: It is good as it is.

TR-116A Rifle: It should be obvious why this would be gamebreaking if it leveled with the captain. In PvP this would be devastating to the oppersite team.

Forward Phaser Bank and Rear Phaser Bank Set: I take it you mean the TOS ones.... As there are already equal items like this in the game i have no issue with this.

Neodymium Deflector Dish: no clue what this does, so i have no opinion.

Multi-Spatial Personal Shield: as previous statement.

Chromodynamic Armor: Considering the strenght this armor has, this would again unbalance PvP if it leveld with the captain. I have it as well and it served me all the way to commander, better than anything the game could provide.

I am suggesting you are biased because you want theese things, and I understand your position, but theese items were intended to give you an enjoyable start into the game, not serve you all the way through.
If you want them the way they are now, fine with me... I mean most of the other pre-order stuff is already in the C-Store, but they shouldn level up with you.

It's a long list but this isn't pie-in-the-sky stuff. It's stuff that's already in the game on the top.

The bottom is just additions to existing ships (Sovereign, Nebula, Excelsior)...it's Cryptic coming out with this stuff, not me. These are suggestions to make them more complete.

But I think your point is you don't want to see more stuff in the C-Store...which isn't what this thread is about...

At what point did I mention C-Store?

Personally, I'd rather the devs spent their time creating actual content, like missions and factions etc., things of substance, rather than more tat for the C-Store.

Oh.. whaddaya know? I did mention C-Store :p

I'm good with Mission Replay and UGC for now to help fill the content gap. I'd like to see Cryptic take advantage of this slightly lowered demand and do more stuff like weeklies, bug cleanup, and C-store stuff.

There's some severe game design issues as well but that's another thread.

As for the items at infinite level:
    • RMC: You already get EPS Power Transfer as an Engineer which gives you +25 to all systems for 30ish seconds. Not gamebreaking, sorry.
    • Automated Defence Turret: Will take your word for it, ok. But would be nice to jailbreak this for the masses.
    • TR-116A: Don't understand how this is obviously game-breaking? It's just another rifle as far as I can see.
    • Chromodynamic Armor: I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this too but again would be nice to jailbreak this.

    [/LIST]

In PvP,it can shoot through walls.

In 2375, Science Officer Chu'lak used a TR-116 rifle to murder fellow Starfleet officers Hector Ilario, Greta Vanderweg, and Zim Brott aboard Deep Space 9. Chu'lak modified the rifle with a micro-transporter, which allowed him to beam the bullet into another room, only 8-9 centimeters from its target. An exographic targeting sensor allowed Chu'lak to scan through walls and target victims anywhere on the station from his quarters. -Memory Alpha

    Indeed.
If you target through a friendly you can stay safely hidden behind several walls and snipe in piece. (literally)
Not that I ever done that and made the opposing team RQ...

Even in PvE it can be somewhat game breaking. Bypass shields you say? Why I never...
(still using it once in a while at Admiral)

I'm for them putting it in the C-Store but should come with a jumbogigantic price tag.(talking Gal-X price range here)

Thats exactly the point: You get this ONLY by being a engineer (or having choosen it from preorder). It is class specific, and adding that particular device would not only take away somthing from that class, but also add a advantage to people with too much money. Now if the item remains at it's current settings (hence not leveling with you) I am fine with it in the C-Store, but not if it levels.
    • Automated Defence Turret: Will take your word for it, ok. But would be nice to jailbreak this for the masses.

Ya... This would greatly help people in Terradome... again... it shouldn level.
    • TR-116A: Don't understand how this is obviously game-breaking? It's just another rifle as far as I can see.

You don't???? A weapon that pr default can shoots through walls? You REALLY don't see how that is game breaking? Imagine if a whole team had theese weapons and the other didn... They could just stay hidden throughout the entire match.
    No...
    • Chromodynamic Armor: I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this too but again would be nice to jailbreak this.

Sure... in it's default form, to help you get started I can only support this one...

It comes down to your suggestion that they should level... I hate that idea. I have no issues with people being able to buy theese thing from the C-store (well actually I do, but I accept that it will happen eventually) to give new chars a good start in the game, but making them level just adds unfair advantages in high end play, especially PvP.

You may have the cash to vaste on digital stuff but not everyone does. This stuff is overpowered for it's level, but where it is atm it dosn't make much diffrence, becasue you can barely PvP down there. So eventually Star Trek Online would become a game of "who has the most money".

Leave them as they are, and add them to the C-Store... That's OK, but no leveling.

This levelling items fad is brought about by WoW's new thing where you get a suit of armour that levels up with your character.

I have it. It's on a 5 minute cool down and triggers battery cooldown when used. It's not a game breaking item, and I don't even slot it for many of my builds.

My point is if it was leveling with you. I am fully aware that it is not gamebreaking as it is (as clearly indicated by my posts).

This is ridiculous. You contradict yourself at every turn.

If there's nothing left in the C-Store you want to buy, well, you should have waited until the sale before you went and bought everything. Now you expect the developers to turn over our pre-order and lifetime rewards to you?

The sad thing is they probably will so they can turn you over for an extra few bucks.

RMC for everyone would indeed throw balance off, and especially greatly in favour for engineers.

With EPS + RMC you can get 100+ on ALL power levels for 10 seconds.
Weapons, Shields, Engines, Aux, the whole bunch.

And that extra power can easily tip the balance of power.

    your precioussssssssssssss :D

Yeah, you've had your fun with it. Time to let everyone else have a crack at these items. Many of us don't even have a Del Taco in the state so getting some of this stuff wasn't even possible. And before you make any more points, some of the preorder items (Borg BO, Rivera Tribble, NCC-1701) have already made it into the game and nobody died. I think you protest far too much. It's a video game.

Also it's quite short-sighted of you to not want a few extra bucks in revenue to support the game...as I've stated before $15 barely covers lunch...

When you've paid them for 2 years worth of game time, then I'll be ok with them letting you have a red matter capacitor. Like I said, if you're bummed there's nothing you want in the C-Store come sale time, you should have held your wad for a while.

Not that you could have known there was a sale coming, and I can understand if you're now a bit peeved at having bought everything full price.

As for the 2 years, I'm not impressed. As I said, preorders have had their fun. (But I'm sorry the idea of others having what you have in a video game is such a big deal to you. I recommend getting some perspective.)

It's been almost a year, set the preorder items free! :D

I'm not talking about pre-order items I'm talking about lifetime items, which the red matter capacitor is. Until you've forked over the amount of clams that I have to have one, I don't see as you've any right to it, that's all.

The RCM is not a LT reward. Not a pre-order either for that matter. (oh it's a pun... how clever)

It came with the *insert whatever edition they sold in you the reader country here*.
Actually... It was not even advertised to be with the edition I bought but I got it anyway. :p
