We're setting up a spceial tool for you to submit your designs, and it'll appear December 9, 2010. Be sure to check back in for your chance to Design the Next Enterprise
Hrm. I'd rally like to parttake.. but I wager that the contest is, once more, only open to US citizens (or in best case, Canadians additionally). Le sigh.
No love for Europeans, for all the understanding I have for the legal reasons behind limiting eligibility for winning..
Oh well. Guess I'll just start building my own next Enterprise
baring they give us a better system then what they used for that other starship website this will be interesting. True cryptic is becomming more usa orientated i do think they might be interested in having it open to all. I would like some more info how we will be allowed to make this new ship and what tools they will give us to make such a ship. I really dont want weak ship parts or pathetic ship parts. Also dont forget peolpe we might be on the enterprise E or F and the J'ish version will have to be worked up to. while I like the contest and it seems cool i dont hope they ship designers are not burnt out. from some of the klingon design they look to be out of ideas which wouls suck. This is my speculation although having the Dev personnel only issuing small bits of info is kinda bad in its own sense.

Nor any for the Koreans nor the Japanese. Yes, there are fans over here in Asia too. One could argue that Japanese Space Opera Anime is in some shape or form influenced by Star Trek.

Hah
Well, we will see. No matter what kind of tool Cryptic/Intel is going to offer, I'm probably going to feel severly limited. I dabble in 3D as a hobby.. and that's ultimate freedom in design
I have two or three design ideas in my head already that might be kick-TRIBBLE. Need to sketch them out first, to see which of these actually 'work' in terms of Star Trek and the context of the early 25th century.
Maybe it'll pop up in Ten Forward even.. I doubt custom-made high resolution 3D models are going to be eligible to be submitted to the contest
Someone please explain how a simple question became a discussion about how racists Cryptic is.
Hey, I'm a pasty white guy who is working over here in Korea. It is more about our disappointment that customers in other parts of the world are being left out.
The point was location or how stuff is seen... Not race. Rasism is hate or exclution of people based on small genetic diffrences that alter appearence.

 Racism, as the name implies, targets race. I think I made it clear that I referred to the legal complications for Cryptic going outside North American territories, and thus, 'Europeans get no Love' is a statement of feeling left out.
[edit] Great. Now I see anazonda already replied to that. Now I feel like a random jerk.

Actually, It's not just North America, it's just the US. Canadians always get left out of these things as well, and I can't see Mexico being any different.
There's something to be said for a singular planetary authority.
Still not happy about the US only thing, but heh, what can we do.. darn laws.. but just out of curiosity.. did i miss something in the PATH to 2409? Why are we designing the Enterprise-F? What happened to the Enterprise-E and Captain Data?

Seems it was send to an explore mission, and was lost...
I wonder if this whole new Enterprise thing is a prelude to a new Trek Series ? It seems odd for CBS to be so involved in this game (never seemed to be this into the other trek games and yes I know it was paramount then but still) its like they are trying to make sure everything is clear to not conflict with something they have in the works.
Just design the darn ship and have an american friend receive the gifts etc, who cares. You get to show off your name and brag with the credit. That's what I'll do. I'm sure random Joe doesn't mind to say his name is Hanzel or common Sue saying her name is Gretel. Sure, you don't get the lifetime subscription etc, but she can mail over the rest. There's nothing illegal about that, Joe or Sue just lied about their name and decided to 'gift' their reward to a European, Canedian, Austrialian or whereever-you-are-from friend.
Besides who knows, maybe there'll be modding options in a future to replace models with your own. Then you can still feature your own design for yourself.
And why the heck do we not set up our own little contest. There's some perfect 3d printing services out there, the winner can have their own design printed out. Sure it isn't used ingame, but it's still fun participating in.:) Now if someone'd actually host that. :P

I don't belive in excluding or being excluded based on nationality, religion or political beliefs.

Don't... I like when people agree with me...

God bless america but TRIBBLE everyone else as always :P

Creative, eh?
In this case, it's our own governments that are TRIBBLE us over in matters such as this. It boils down to taxes, and government looking for their cut.
